Wishing He Were Dead

An 103 year old man in Patna, India wishes he was dead so desperately he is lying in his grave every day. Basanta Roy dug his grave in the Hindu tradition next to his wife. For the past 6 years he has tended the grave and lay down in it waiting to die.

But in true adherence to Murphy’s Law, poor Basanta has been denied the death that he so craves. Instead the site of his grave has now become a quasi tourist attraction as people from the surrounding region come to view him laying in his grave.

The perverse side of me laughs at this story, but the other side admires a man who so loves his wife that he wishes for death to be with her. So when you all feel melodramatic and say you wish you were dead, think of poor 103 year old Basanta Roy who embodies that sentiment every day.

Joran Van der Sloot’s Book … “The Case of Natalee Holloway” … Keep Talking . SICK, SICK, SICK.

Joran Van der Sloot … Keep Talking, it will be your undoing.

“Lying makes it easier for me”. (Joran Van der Sloot)

No truer words have ever been spoken.

This is just another example of what’s good for Joran Van der Sloot is terrible for Aruba. Maybe one day the people of Aruba will wake up and smell the coffee. Also maybe more American tourists will come to realize what really took place.

Comments from American tourists in Aruba regarding the Joran Van der Sloot book.

“I think that’s sick, I really do. To be able to profit off of something like this is horrible. Whether he did it or didn’t do it doesn’t matter, just sick”  (Will Formato)

“I am disappointed kinda that he would capitalize on something bad that happened like that and feel like he could make money on other people’s unhappiness.” (Janet Beatty)

Reviews state that the book takes swipes at Natalee’s family and the American people.

“I don’t like the idea that somebody that was so closely involved to the situation would then write a book to profit from it.” (Fox)

I would ask the people who commented on Joran Van der Sloot’s book below the following question: If it is so sick as to what Joran Van der Sloot is doing in profiting from a book of a terrible ordeal like the disappearance of an American teenage girl, then why are you vacationing on an island that knowingly tried to cover up and did little to really and properly investigate Natalee Holloway’s disappearance? A place where the chief investigator told Dave Holloway to go to Carlos N’ Charlies and “have a beer, she’ll show up”.

Dan Abrams: The letter goes on to say that when Dave Holloway asked the policeDave holloway sign to begin a search for Natalee two days after she went missing, the detective in charge of the investigation answered, this happens all the time. Just go on down to Carlos N’ Charlie’s and have a beer. She’ll show up sometime. She probably got drunk or fell in love and ran off with someone for a few days.

When you went to the police department to report Natalee missing, Dennis Jacobs responded with the following inappropriate question. How much money do you have?

Dave Holloway: That’s correct and there were two witnesses there that can confirm that.

WOULD NOT THAT BE CONSIDERED SICK AS WELL!!!

Aruba facade

(Hat Tip Vanderbilt – 06, What happens in Aruba, Stays covered up in Aruba)

Its not just Joran Van der Sloot who lied and tried a cover up to save the tourism of Aruba. That would have been a decision by Aruban officials. So the question is why are you vacationing in an island where if something happened to you, the same treatment would be afforded to you and your loved one’s. Would not that be sick as well?

American tourists in Aruba, you are staying in a place that disregards American’s life for the benefit that no harm would come to their tourism. They thought this would all blow over in 4 days. You people are in Aruba making negative comments about Joran Van der Sloot and his profits? What do you think Aruba is doing by you being there while they always wished to look the other way? WAKE UP!!!

Is this where you want to be searching for your missing loved one?

Earth to American tourists … Joran Van der Sloot took swipes at you too.

Who do these tourists really think tried to profit off the cover up of this crime? Who do you think pulled strings and allowed this crime not to be investigated until nearly two year later when Dutch investigators searched the Van der Sloot property?

Dave Holloway, “Corruption in Paradise”.

Corruption, yes. There’s a lot of things that occurred on the island before Natalee got there and we addressed some of those issues. But, you know, you have a 17-year-old kid that basically runs the island. He’s 17 years old. The legal age of gambling is 18. The legal age of drinking is 18. The legal age of driving is 18. And here he does all three.

You know and then this happens with Natalee and then you get a low level police officer trying to make a decision, “Do I arrest these boys or do I turn my head and look the other way?” And we think that they’ve turned their head and looked the other way.

To American tourist that think its OK to selfishly look the other way when grief, pain and despair are brought upon others … You to could have been in the same shoes as Beth Twitty. Will you only care when it directly affects you? What a commentary that says about people and their selfish, self-centered actions.

“If the investigation had been handled properly during the first 10 days, the world would not have witnessed and experienced the pain and suffering my family and I have endured,” Holloway Twitty said, choking back tears as she read from a written statement. “For the rest of my life, I will continue to be the voice for my daughter, seeking justice in Aruba. Every parent would want the same justice for their child.”

Equal Rights for Monkeys (Hiasl) … Monkeys are People Too

Its a case of Monkey see … Monkey Sue.Hiasl_monkey

Hiasl enjoys a pastry every now and again. He enjoys to paint and to just relax and watch TV. There is probably a litany of things that Hiasl (pronounced HEE-zul)  enjoys doing similar to you and I. The only thing is that Hiasl is not a person, at least not yet. He is a 26 year old chimpanzee. However, if animal activists get their way, he will be declared a “person”.

“Our main argument is that Hiasl is a person and has basic legal rights,” said Eberhart Theuer, a lawyer leading the challenge on behalf of the Association Against Animal Factories, a Vienna animal rights group.

“We mean the right to life, the right to not be tortured, the right to freedom under certain conditions,” Theuer said.

“We’re not talking about the right to vote here.” (Breitbart)

The shelter that Hiasl and Rosie have lived in for 25 years went bankrupt and activists are looking to ensure the two monkeys do not wind up homeless. It appears that the two have already had their share of suffering.

Activists want to ensure the apes don’t wind up homeless if the shelter closes. Both have already suffered: They were captured as babies in Sierra Leone in 1982 and smuggled in a crate to Austria for use in pharmaceutical experiments. Customs officers intercepted the shipment and turned the chimps over to the shelter.

Monkey Texas Holdem

Primate rights for monkeys, what a novel concept … Monkeys are people too.

Austria isn’t the only country where primate rights are being debated. Spain’s parliament is considering a bill that would endorse the Great Ape Project, a Seattle-based international initiative to extend “fundamental moral and legal protections” to apes.

Battle for a chimp to get ‘person’ status

Isn’t this how the Planet of the Apes movie series started?

In a closely watched test case that could set a global legal precedent for granting basic rights to apes, Austrian animal rights advocates are waging an unusual court battle to get the 26-year-old male chimpanzee legally declared a “person.”

Hiasl’s supporters argue that he needs that status to become a legal entity who can receive donations and get a guardian to look out for his interests. (CNN)

TSA Loses Hard Drive With 100,000 Employees Personal Data

TSAlogo-sm

Imagine you were the federal agency that was in charge of making sure that the borders and entry points of the country were safe. You know terrorists are looking to find ways to infiltrate your organization and coerce, bribe, or blackmail your employees to circumvent the regulations to cause grievous harm to the country.

Don’t you think that having the personal data of 100,000 employees of the TSA on a hard drive that was accessible a major security breech unto itself. And to now have lost the data is putting national security at risk. These employees of the Transportation Security Administration are now in someones hands who it should not be.

If that person is a bad guy, then we are in a heap of danger. They can find the weak link in the chain, coerce that person by whatever means to do their dirty work, and potentially help another commit a 9/11 type tragedy to happen.

Come on TSA, get you act together.

Authorities realized Thursday the hard drive was missing from a controlled area at TSA headquarters. TSA Administrator Kip Hawley sent a letter to employees Friday apologizing for the lost data and promising to pay for one year of credit monitoring services.
“TSA has no evidence that an unauthorized individual is using your personal information, but we bring this incident to your attention so that you can be alert to signs of any possible misuse of your identity,” Hawley wrote in the letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press. “We profoundly apologize for any inconvenience and concern that this incident has caused you.”
The agency said it did not know whether the device is still within headquarters or was stolen. via FOXNews.com

Cinco De Mayo Brought To You By Coors

CincodemayoLeave the tequila behind and head for the mountains if you want to celebrate a traditional Cinco De Mayo. We all wonder where these holidays come from, but this has to be the most narcissitic one I have seen for a long time.

If you do not have time to read the excerpts, here it goes. Coors pisses off Mexicans and is looking to find a way to get the college students to drink more beer in May. They create the Cinco de Mayo holiday even though Mexican Independence Day is in September.

Add a strong dose of marketing dollars, a little bit of hubris, and you have given the hoard of bar owners, radio DJs, and booze salesman a bonanza. If I was Mexican I would be a little bit pissed.

In the 1960s, Chicano activists in Colorado promoted a boycott of Coors beer in response to employment discrimination against Latinos at Coors breweries. Coors had two problems. They had to fix their image with Latino consumers, and they had to figure out some way to get college students to drink more beer in May. The solution: start sponsoring Cinco de Mayo! Thus, even though Mexicans in Mexico celebrate their independence day on September 15th and 16th, Mexican-Americans are more likely to celebrate the May 5th anniversary of the Battle of the Puebla, which is not even commemorated with a national holiday in Mexico. In fact, the Battle of the Puebla was a skirmish in the Pastry War, a French intervention in Mexico that began because a French chef demanded several thousand pesos to compensate him for Mexican military officers looting his pastry supply. via MetaFilter.
