      Why?

    2. ldstlou on March 15th, 2007 7:42 pm

I agree…WHY? This one has me all choked up…so close to my son’s age. May he rest in peace now.

I want to know what this little boy, who looks Spanish or African American, was doing with these white trash so-called parents?
What is the story on this?
I hope they are convicted and receive the death penalty.

What is wrong with these people that hurt and abuse kids?
I can’t understand why someone would even consider hurting a child. This just breaks my heart.
God will be with the family and friends of Christopher.

Good God we just got through with putting lil Jessica Lunsford’s killer away on death row and now its happened again. And again it seems that family members of these scumbags are helping their criminal sexual deviate offspring.

Why are we as a society bending over backwards for child predator’s rights to live close proximity to young children?

Since Aruba isn’t fit for tourists i suggest we just send all the pedaphile’s there.

    7. Helen on March 15th, 2007 8:33 pm

klaasend: Thanks for the comment. I re-read the information and realized I had misunderstood. The mother and father referred to the suspect, Edenfield’s parents, I see now.

    8. ldstlou on March 15th, 2007 8:38 pm

moons…I think that is brilliant!! send them all to Aruba!!

    9. Richard on March 15th, 2007 8:42 pm

News like this makes me want to question the theory of evolution. Does any animal known to be on earth do this?

    10. Richard on March 15th, 2007 8:46 pm

If anything can be more disturbing than the news of such a horror, it would be that such things seem, these days, to follow one after another, as poster #5 (Mayan Moons) notes.

I’m old enough to remember when guns in schools, and kids plotting to shoot each other and their teachers, were things that nobody could believe, or even comprehend.

      Then came Columbine.

And now there seem to be teams of “grief counselors” at the ready.

At what grisly point in our society did we come to accept the idea that there are entities (I won’t call them people) out there who abduct and abuse children?

WHEN DID IT BECOME A ROUTINE NEWS ITEM? WHEN?

    11. Kat_Gram on March 15th, 2007 9:36 pm

      Why is a good question.
Why is a predator allowed to live close to children ?
Better yet, why are they allowed to live at all.
There is no cure for this illness, mental disorder or whatever label you put on it.
Just once you have them don’t let them out. I know all about rights… blah… blah… blah…. but what about the rights of the rest of society ?
Canada and the USA need a tune up when it comes to the laws that deal with these types of offenders.
Find out how you can become active where you live. We can all write ( some of us more and better than others ) to our elected officials and make this an issue.
Want us to vote for you ? Then make it clear what you want.

    12. mayan_moons on March 15th, 2007 9:56 pm

      Hey Kat_Gram!

If i were calling the shots these bastards would be shot or banished to Aruba’s penal colony for the rest of their pathetic lives. This ankle thing is better than nothing but i resent paying for that when the money could go to giving children a better education. Taking care of less advantaged children with enough food, clothing and hope for the future.

It just ticks me off that there is money for everything under the sun except our children.

    13. mayan_moons on March 15th, 2007 10:01 pm

Every dollar that goes into trying to understand and probation these rejects in my eyes is taking it away from children.

I had a dream last night that Aruba’s economy totaly collapsed but to help em out we agreed to use the island for a landfill!

    14. mayan_moons on March 15th, 2007 10:11 pm

      Yeah ldstlou!

      Works for me!

These kind of degenerates…..most of them contribute NOTHING to this society. They just drain & drain the system with few of them gainfully employed i bet!

    15. R-squared on March 15th, 2007 11:20 pm

      To Kat_Gram,

Your question was a bit too long.
“Why is a predator allowed to live close to children?”

      How about
Why is a predator allowed to live? Period.

    16. Patti on March 15th, 2007 11:52 pm

      No more 3 strike rules,

No more 2nd chances for child predators,

String them all up the first time.

(And for God’s sake, get rid of child pornography)

Are there words to discribe the filth that can do this? and his freakin parents???? This is beyond horrible. Mayan your right…send them to LIERUBA where the rest of the pedifiles[sp] are.

    19. skeeter2 on March 16th, 2007 10:49 am

I live in brunswick. This little child was going from grandmas to dads. He just wanted to be a kid and play on the swing set, he is just six. Well Mr.molester man took away a precious little boy and mommy and daddy tried to cover up for him. They should keep his picture up on the cell walls and put on there you killed me. This is so sad.

    20. Miss-Underestimated on March 16th, 2007 11:15 am

This just smelled bad from the get go. When is the judicial system going to protects it’s citizens and our most valuable resource “Our Children” ?

Guys who cook the books or embezzle get more life or time sentences than the monsters who molest or harm and kill our children.

No tatoos, no rehab, no parole, just put the shit away forever, and fry-em if they kill, we have seen this one too many time. Judges do your jobs like you were appointed or elected to do. Where are the legislators?

May the child rest in peace and pray for his family, what a horrendous crime against this child and the family.

    21. slogmonster on March 16th, 2007 11:24 am

My prayers go out to the family of Christopher Barrios. May God grant them strength, comfort, and peace as they travel down this long corridor of horror.

What were the parents of the perp thinking?! Protecting their son at the expense of an entire family?!

Why, oh, why, oh, why? >(

    22. Leslie on March 16th, 2007 12:02 pm

There is something very wrong with this entire story:
“Christopher lived with his father in a trailer park of about 50 homes. He often stayed with his grandmother, whose trailer sat about 60 metres from his father’s home.
Earlier this week, police arrested 32-year-old George David Edenfield, who lived with his parents across the street from the boy’s grandmother.”
It is being reported that Christopher’s grandmother knew about the criminal past of Edenfield and had warned him (Christopher)to not go near the house.

    23. Freebrid on March 16th, 2007 12:14 pm

Why was this bastard alouded to be in a mobilehome park where there were children? Or was he there without consent from the police. I thought sex offenders had to be register and give their addresses at all times of where they are staying. And the killers parents they look like the trash that they are!!!

    24. Brenda on March 16th, 2007 1:01 pm

Richard…YES! Those who think they are nothing more than animals DO act like it.

      Brenda

    25. Brenda on March 16th, 2007 1:06 pm

I’m afraid that the “bad man on the porch” decided (for whatever reason) to stalk the boy that day. No other way to grab the child in such close proximity to the home.

I do not care how “retarded” the younger suspect is supposed to be. Not too “retarded” to plan the abduction…right? How about “evil”? Anyone still believe in that word other than those posting here????? It cannot be understood, only destroyed like any other human disease.

      Brenda

    26. skeeter2 on March 16th, 2007 2:55 pm

There were three sex offenders living in that area, including his father. That was for statutory rape.

    27. pdh3 on March 16th, 2007 3:27 pm

This story just breaks my heart.

    28. azsunny on March 16th, 2007 11:02 pm

Such a beautiful child. You can see his love and energy. This breaks my heart. He is with a great caretaker now.

    29. H. Goodson on March 23rd, 2007 10:50 am

I just read the details of this little boys murder and the things that they did to him right before, and I find myself so saddened to know what this little boy experienced, that it makes it almost impossible for me to catch my breath. I just don’t understand why would anyone do this? What kind of people are allowed to run around like this? The only thing that gives me comfort is to know that he is with GOD right now, to know that he is safe. I just really hope that these people get the death penalty… even God said, “An eye for an eye..” I am praying so hard for this boys family and for every other family out there that has experienced this or has a child that is missing.

    30. Robert Riley on March 23rd, 2007 1:51 pm

God chose this boy to ignite a fire in all of us here, and in many more around the world.

Dealing with such a story is beyond human thought. I gave up long ago, understanding deep in my heart that the motivation of God is not something I will ever or should ever understand.

More importantly, and this is for so many of you out there as well, I firmly believe that God has the power to remove our sould BEFORE instances like this take place. That is to say that what the media portrays this poor young boy going through in his final moments on this planet was only something for us to read about….he was already gone before it even started. I hope and pray this is the case.

What about the underlying theme of racial hatred, alive and well in the deep south? We also have that issue to deal with, on top of the growing problem of where the molesters need to be placed.

I was not sure before, but now I am. Pure evil is walking this planet amoung us. We must all take notice, pay attention and do our part to be on watch, at the movies, at the mall, at the store, at the McDonalds, everywhere there may be a child.
