RSSRest in Peace Jamie Skeeters … Official Obituary
Jamie Skeeters, a retired commander with the Oxnard Police Department passed away suddenly Jan. 24, 2007, while away on business in Memphis, Tenn.
Jamie was born March 14, 1941, in Muleshoe, Texas, to Gladys Skeeters. He was a resident of Ventura County for more than 40 years. He was very proud to be a U.S. Marine. He served as acting gunny/sergeant from 1961 to 1966. Before joining the Oxnard Police Department, he served as director of Boys Clubs in Oxnard from 1966 through 1967. In 1967 he joined the Oxnard Police Department and rose quickly through the ranks, achieving the rank of commander in 1993. Jamie served in that capacity until May 1996, when he retired with nearly 30 years of service to the Oxnard community. After his retirement he continued on to serve as chief of police for Ventura College.
- He spent many years living in the Ojai area with his wife, Kay. Together they owned and operated Ojai Valley Farms, a first-class equestrian center, until recently when his polygraph career flourished.
- Jamie is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Kay; loving daughter, Kim Skeeters; sons, Trace Giove and John Skeeters; and four beautiful grandchildren, Trevor, Morgan, Ryan and Melissa.
- We deeply grieve the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and love of our life, but find great comfort in knowing he was loved by so many.
A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, with rosary recited immediately following, at Clausen Funeral Home, 316 E. Matilija Ave., Ojai, CA 93023; phone 805-646-1451. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 185 St. Thomas Drive, Ojai, CA 93023; phone 805-646-4337.

Rest in Peace Mr. Skeeters. Based on Jamie’s history and credentials, I am confident he has dotted all his i’s and crossed his t’s in regards to the EDITTED TAPE. The world has lost a good soul. A man whose quest it was to find Natalee Holloway. On top of all his accomplishments, a Marine. Semper Fi.

My condolences to Jamie’s family. His record speaks for itself, he led an honorable life and brought that same honor in search of Natalee. He did what no other could, he got Deepak to talk and recorded it for all to hear.

Unless I missed it, no specific mention of cause of death is given. Is this normal in such obituaries, or does it mean that they are not yet sure? (Or were not when it was written….)

My condolences to Jamie’s family at their loss. He was an honorable man who will be missed by many. He’s in God’s hands now.
He died as a defendnat in a serious civil trial, with his integrity questioned on a national level. Now his estate will be paying out legal fees, and his beneficiaries may well be the Kalpoes.
I wonder, if his tape was so important, why didn’t he run down the street and give it to the Aruban authorities? Why did he spend months shopping it to the highest bidder? Natalee may well have died during that time, and his information might well have led to finding her alive. If so, he will be in God’s hands only for the minimum time necessary to drop him down to a warmer place.

My condolenses to Jamie’s family and to all of us who he might have helped. We lost a great man.
Gary or whatever alias you are using today. Please provide us with evidence Jamie Skeeters shopped this tape around to the highest bidder? Nice of you to come here and try to blame Jamie Skeeters for Natalee’s death. When you get your head out of clouds, try looking at the 3 last known suspects with Natalee who lied about everything concerning the night they were with her. They lied about where they took her and only changed the story 9 days later when the tape proved she wasn’t taken back to the Holiday Inn. There could’ve been lots of evidence where she was last at, but they chose to lie so noone would know where she was last at for a good reason. Who would run the Aruban authorities that was handling this case with anything? The lead cop was Paulus’s buddy. They watched the tape of Natalee not returning to the Holiday Inn within a few days of her being gone and still went out and arrested the 2 black security guards. They knew Joran lied the first night when he said he didn’t know Natalee or her name. They knew they lied when Deepak and Joran couldn’t point out the guards at the HI when they went there. Joran and Satish even pointed out 2 dif places they dropped her off at the Holiday Inn.
It says more about your character, coming to an obituary paying tribute to Mr. Skeeters and trying to spread your trash, then it does about Mr. Skeeters character. You can only hope your obituary would read 1/4 as good as his. Serious, civil lawsuit my aunt fanny..

Thank you to Jamie Skeeters for getting the truth out of the Kalpoe slime. If it wasn’t for the so-called Aruban Authorities covering up since day 1 of Natalee’s disappearance, Aruba might not be in the shape they are today! It’s too bad they had to hide all evidence from the American authorities i.e., Kalpoe car interior washing, bloody mattress, belt, blonde hair, bone, etc. They did all this covering up just for the stupid VDS’s because he was a “Judge-in training”. WOW….Big Deal! Now they can suffer and suffer and suffer from less and less tourism! I HOPE ONE DAY THEY ARE HIT WITH A HUGE TSUNAMI! WHOOOOSH!!

#14. At least I am not sick enough to wish a tsunami, with no doubt many deaths, on an island, most of whose citizens had nothing to do with your imagined wrongs.
Let us see how the facts come out in court and we will see how this man, who died a defendant accused of wrongs, fares. The ill that men do often live on after them.

In reality, the only tsunami washouts that I would want to take place would be the residents of the Van der sloots, Kalpoes, and all the so-called Aruban authorities that lied, concealed evidence, covered up facts and know exactly what happened to and who did what in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway!

I haven’t been reading the front page lately and am shocked to see that Mr. Skeeters has died! Being my age also, it is not “old”.
I am sure that the court case added stresses that didn’t need to ever happen in the first place.
So Mr. Gary, how do I know this… well if someone were looking to “sell something to the highest bidder” the person sure wouldn’t just be giving it away to the FBI like he did and long before it would even be expected to do so! ie: long before the court case but after a version of the tape came from Aruba that was different than on his hard disk drive which he gave to the FBI when the media reported a different tape that was supposedly sent from Aruba govt. officials ie: prosecuter and head police (Dutch) to the Holland FBI
And you might ask why do I think he is an honest man… I emailed him once way, way before the court case about something private having to do with the parties mentioned on his team and he gave me a very honest email back, the content in which indicated his honesty… there were only two ways to answer my email based on what I had emailed him and he answered it honestly, for I knew enough info to know if he had taken the higher road in answering me honestly or not.

My Dad is an amazing, beautiful man who gave the shirt of his back for anyone in need. I deeply appreciate all of your kind words of support during this difficult time, it really helps. I met Jamie when I was hired at the Oxnard Police Department. Jamie was a man of integrity, loyalty and the highes character. I truly admired Jamie and I hope you rest in peace.

Today Paulus Van Der Sloot died. Father of a should be convicted killer. We should thank god every day for people like Jamie Skeeters. He was an honest and caring person one that was not trying to make money on Natalie”s death but one that was trying to gain closure for the family. It is poetic justice that paulis has died. Im sure we would have been a lot happier if it had been Urin dying because we all know he is the demon that killed a young beautiful Natalie that had her whole life ahead of her. Well we know that Jamie will not be doing any interview from heaven with Paulus because there is no dought that he is going to pay in Gods eyes for the coverup of the Murder Of Natalie Hollaway.
