Pelosi’s First Test – Promotes Anti-War Murtha Over Hoyer
So now that the Democrats have won the House of Representatives they are forced to make leadership decisions. Thus, the newly minted “moderate” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is forced to choose between anti war John Murtha or the present house whip Steny Hoyer for the House Majority Leader position.
Well folks, she has choosen anti-war Murtha, even with a majority of the Democrats already saying they will support Steny Hoyer. So the “moderate” Pelosi is going to fight a likely losing battle to get her anti war candidate Murtha elected Majority leader. That sounds very moderate, doesn’t it.
It all happened with a five-paragraph letter circulated to the press on Sunday night. The current number two in House leadership, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), says he has enough votes to score the majority-leader slot when Democrats meet on Thursday. But he has been challenged by Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), a decorated Vietnam War veteran who stunned colleagues last year by calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. Pelosi wrote a letter endorsing Murtha, noting pointedly in the first sentence that he had asked for it. Praising his “courageous leadership” on Iraq “strong voice for national security,” she wrote that she is “pleased to support” his candidacy.

BIFF … TWACK … POW. The Dynamic Duo Batman and Robin Catch Drug Suspects
Truth is always stranger than fiction, this story is no different. These guys also get an “A” for originality. The Caped Crusaders to the rescue. The Dynamic Duo … Batman & Robin, Sgt Tony Smith and PC Mike Holman put on the masks, tights and utility belts to catch some bad guys. They pretended to be drunks looking for a costume party, how funny is that?
They pretended to be drunks looking for a fancy dress party and knocked on the door of the suspect’s home.
Those inside refused to answer the door to the loud, comically dressed visitors – which was what the officers wanted.
Batman and Robin then went around the back of the property in Weymouth, Dorset, while seven uniformed officers went to the front door.
Then the super hero’s took action. Don’t mess with Batman and all his gadgets. Leave it to the Caped Crusader to chase the villain and jump over a fence in costume. Sgt Smith (Batman) even commented, “the Batman costume was quite comfortable and not too restricting”. Why, why did now one have the video camera running?
However, one of the men inside the house ran out of the back door on seeing the policeman – to where the superheroes were waiting for him.
Batman – Sgt Smith – gave chase, jumped over a fence and BIFF, POW, THWACK, arrested him. (The Daily Mirror)
