Lionel, you know your career is over when … your name on the billboard comes after the 
puppet show. Thus is the case of Lionel Ritchie and his desperate attempt to hold on to his music career. Lionel Richie played at the Aruban Music Festival which as reported by Amigoe, was not without its issues. What’s next in Ritchie’s career, opening up at the demolition derby?
But on Saturday night there were a few issues. During Richie’s performance the music in back was not loud enough. When the public reacted to something Richie had said, you couldn’t hear him anymore. At the back of the field of the Entertainment Center people were able to have full conversations even during his performance, which didn’t do any good for the music. Also the opening acts ended too early and it was a full half hour before Richie took the stage. The music that was played in the interim was okay, but not a good warm up for the audience.

ORANJESTAD – Lionel Richie took the stage on Saturday night during the second night of the Aruba Music Festival. He warmed up the public with well known ballads, who calmly enjoyed the scene and moved along a little with the tunes of this often romantic music. Until Richie played ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’, announcing the festival had now really began.
To the sounds of this hit people took to their feet and everyone in the Entertainment Center danced along. Richie did a good job setting the tone and atmosphere. Particularly with his encore he really brought down the house. For their last tunes Richie and his band played the world renowned ‘Hello’ and ‘All Night Long’. Between the songs the singer kept seeking out contact with his audience, achieving a truly interactive show. Richie’s concert was a mix of recent numbers, golden hits, and songs from his days with The Commodores. The people who came to the show knew most of the music from their youth and sang along loudly.
The Aruba Music Festival was successful and well organized again this year. But on Saturday night there were a few issues. During Richie’s performance the music in back was not loud enough. I hear ya on taking abit of a break…..i was pulled away too for alittle bit. I’ve spent alot of time pouring over the stills you’ve captured & highlighted here, i’m sure everyone has. More than anything in the world we wish it was not Natalee in these stills, but it is, and J2K & Paul put her there. The Van Der Sloots & Kalpoe’s hurt her so bad from looking at these injuries to her face, head & hands. There are defensive knife wounds/slices in the hands, they cut her face & her throat and her skull bashed halfway in. Natalee’s death was no drug & or alcohol interaction or overdose, if that was all that happened there’d be no need to hide her body. Natalee wasn’t just raped that night, she was stabbed & beaten with something and kicked by these punks. The hand injuries tell it all. She was being stabbed first & used her hands to ward off the knife, getting cut in the palm’s of her hands. She was grabbing at the blade trying to protect herself, thats why there are cuts to her fingers. She was grabbing for the blade of that knife because she knew they were trying to kill her. She knew after the first or second time she felt that knife that she was not going home and thats why she grabbed that blade.

I’ve been a Lionel Richie fan for a long time and have been happy to see him back in the limelight. Unitl now. Thinking of him singing in Aruba is a real let-down. Granted, terrible things happen every day around the world, but if letters were actually sent asking him not to go and drawing Natalee’s story to his attention, then that’s a real let-down. Especially when he has a young daughter himself.

I don’t believe in vigillante justice, but I do understand when some people want it. Let the system work is a joke. The system hasn’t been working the past almost 18 months.
