Another Candidate for Teacher of the Year … Kama Sutra meets Sesame Street … Brought to you by the Letter E
It is being passed off as a mistake, yet I am not so sure. It would almost have been better if someone had said the mistake was intentional as it is unbelievable that so many people within the school system missed this incredible gaff. The blunder you ask?
MONROE, N.Y. Sep 18, 2006 (AP)— School officials apologized after an X-rated font was used on a third-grade spelling packet handed out to parents. The font showed male and female stick figures in provocative poses to form the letters of the alphabet. (ABC News)
(Click on the “E” to see font, warning sexually graffic in a movie‘Bird Cage’ kind of way)
If “E” is for embarrassment … then “L” is for the lack of attention provided by the entire school system.
Central Valley — “E” is for embarrassed — like the teacher who inadvertently used a kinky alphabet in a handout to parents. “C” is for the calls alerting school officials to the sexy script. And “A” is for the apology that followed. A veteran teacher used the font — depicting quasi-anatomically correct male and female stick figures contorting into letters of the alphabet — on the cover sheet of a spelling curriculum given to parents at a Pine Tree Elementary open house last week. (Recordonline)
School administrators said the teacher did not use the font intentionally. I am tending to agree with Michelle Malkin on this one. How many packets were compiled and yet not one was checked. Intentional or incompetence, neither is really acceptable.
Riiight. The teacher’s fingers just accidentally slipped and downloaded the font, then accidentally slipped again when pressing print and compiling the packets.

Attention, class: ‘D’ is for ‘D’oh!’
An undoubtedly red-faced elementary school teacher in Monroe, N.Y., inadvertently gave parents a lesson in the ABC’s of XXX at an open house when she distributed a spelling curriculum handout with pornographic print, the Times Herald-Record reports.
Can you spell H-U-M-I-L-I-A-T-I-N-G?
The frisky font consisted of male and female stick figures … ahem … working in titillating togetherness to form the letters of the alphabet (Fox News)
The Caribbean Society of Hotel Association (CSHAE) Meet to focus on Media Relations and Advocacy
The Caribbean Tourism powers that be still think its about media relations and how to manipulate marketing campaigns to travelers. You may want to rethink this one.
the meeting in Barbados this week for a two-day workshop on media relations and advocacy.
One wonders if you are even capable of implementing your stated goals of “enhancing the flow and substance of accurate and timely information to the media on the tourism industry.” Do you people not understand that declines in tourism have nothing to do any more with “timely spin” that tourism associations put out as to writing fluff pieces on an island’s tourism. In a post Natalee Holloway tourism world in the Caribbean its about safety. Its also about trust. Tourists need to know that their safety and prosecution of crimes is even a concern.
Tourists are more worried whether they are going to be robbed, raped, attacked or murdered while paying to be in the Caribbean on vacation. They want to know whether when they go on vacation prior to college, they will actually return safe and not vanish and have their disappearance covered up as in the case of Natalee Holloway. Tourists want to know whether local police have the competence to solve crimes or even the where with all to even care to.
If the Caribbean Islands cannot instill any confidence into the paying traveler that they will be safe or cronyism will not play a part in the investigations of crimes, then the Caribbean has a huge problem. It is all going to depend on how each island in the Caribbean handles itself. There are too many places for people to travel, people will make up their own minds as to safety and respect. All this conference needs to do is take a look at Aruba and use it as a “what never to do” example.
… designed to guide chief executives and presidents of national hotel associations in the Caribbean in enhancing the flow and substance of accurate and timely information to the media on the tourism industry. “The media, the Fourth Estate, shapes public opinion,” said Susan Springer, Executive Vice President of BHTA and President of the region organization CSHAE. “It behooves the industry to be an effective facilitator that stimulates comprehensive coverage of tourism-related issues in order to sensitize Caribbean residents about the huge role of tourism to the development of healthier and wealthier communities.” (Hospitalitynet)

NBC Doesn’t Find Madonna Crucifixion inappropriate During TV Concert … Do you? Religious Double Standard?
It would seem the networks find little inappropriate these days by what in on TV programming. According to The Drudge Report, NBC has given the green light to include “Madonna-on-the-Cross footage in an upcoming November Sweeps concert special”.
NBC suit Kevin Reilly said Madonna considered the crucifixion a highlight of her show. “We viewed it and didn’t see it as being inappropriate,” NBC explained.
NBC, besides being inappropriate, its also offensive. But what does NBC care of mocking Christianity. There is an open season on networks criticizing Christianity. Think NBC would have allowed it if Madonna was using the Koran as a prop or mocking Allah or Muhammad? No double standard here. Come on NBC, why don’t you allow equal time and have Madonna desecrate an Islamic symbol as well? What are you afraid of?
However, NBC thinks its perfectly OK for a crucifix to be used in this manner.
UPDATE: Could NBC be feeling the pressure? Do they really want thi head ache that may turn out to be a ratings ploy nightmare? Now NBC TV undecided about Madonna mock crucifixion
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The NBC television network is still making up its mind about whether it will allow pop star Madonna to stage a mock crucifixion on its airwaves as part of her upcoming prime-time concert special.
Her stage act drew storms of protest from the Roman Catholic Church and Russian Orthodox Church during recent performances in Rome and Moscow, with church leaders condemning the mock crucifixion as blasphemy.
