From Aruba Today: Joran Leaves Aruba

So today, we have the end game played by the Van Der Sloots. Joran has left Aruba, odds on to never return again. Joran flew out of Aruba to the Netherlands yesterday, according to Aruba Today, to attend college.

The Dutch law says he can not leave Dutch land, but the enforcement of such within the open boarder policy of the European Union, will be very difficult to enforce.

Remember Those that are Really Important; the Missing children of Katrina

Michelle Malkin has an update from her original posting, LOST CHILDREN OF KATRINA: UPDATE. Some of the children have been reunited with their parents as the LA Times has reported.

So far, parents displaced by flooding have reported 220 children missing, but that number is expected to rise, said Mike Kenner of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which will help reunite families. With crowds churning at evacuation points, many children were parted from their parents accidentally; one woman handed her baby up onto a bus, turned around to pick up her suitcase and turned back to find that the bus had left.

Michelle’s post has some encouraging and wonderful stories of children that have been reunited and other links to still help find the many others that still need our help.

Those that Help: India

The United States, by far the largest donor to the world, has gotten some help in the Katrina crisis from India. India has faced the Tsunami last year, and beyond that has had trouble with water purification issues throughout its history.

So India is sending over a team that specializes in water purifications and a medical support team. So remember those countries that have and will step up and help the United States in this time of turmoil.

From the Telegraph of India:

If all goes well, an Illyushin-76 Indian military transport plane loaded with large water purification systems both for households and communities and critical medical supplies will take off in a day or two from an airfield in India for the southern US which is reeling from a killer hurricane which hit the area a few days ago.

The Russian-built military transporter has been readied in anticipation of clearance by US authorities of an offer by New Delhi to “stand in solidarity and sympathy with them in these trying times” of death and destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

The Illyushin, which will bring its own naval boats and dinghies for a “self-sustaining and self-supporting” relief operation in the US, will also carry a medical team from the Indian Army Medical Corps.

The team will include a surgeon, an anaesthetist, doctors, nurses and paramedics who have had first-hand experience in handling the effects of natural disasters.

Natalee’s Aunt Linda Allison Speaks Out Regarding the Recent Events In Aruba

I spoke with Linda Allison, Natalee Holloway’s aunt, yesterday regarding the most recent events that have taken place in aruba; the release of Joran Van der Sloot, the Kalpoe brothers and Beth’s decision to come back home to Alabama . She told me the following:

“I am hopeful that charges will still be brought against the three suspects”

“It is a depressing and confusing situation for the Kalpoe brothers to be rearrested one week along with Joran friend’s Freddie one week and then be dealt with the setback of them all being released the following week”.

“I have spoken with Dave and we are more determined than ever to find more information, more evidence and more witnesses against these suspects that can bring light on Natalee’s disappearance.”

GWB Nominates John Roberts to succeed William H. Rehnquist as chief justice

President George W. Bush this morning nominated John Roberts to succeed William H. Rehnquist as chief justice. The President also called on the Senate to confirm him before the Supreme Court opens its fall term on Oct. 3.

“I am honored and humbled by the confidence the president has shown in me,” Roberts said, standing alongside Bush in the Oval Office. “I am very much aware that if I am confirmed I would succeed a man I deeply respect and admire, a man who has been very kind to me for 25 years.”

“He’s a man of integrity and fairness and throughout his life he’s inspired the respect and loyalty of others,” Bush said. “John Roberts built a record of excellence and achievement and reputation for goodwill and decency toward others in his extraordinary career.”

Now let the escalation of political partisanship begin. Roberts who all but looked assured to pass as the next Supreme Court Justice as many democrats appeared to be on board with his nomination will now be pressured by the Democratic hierarchy.

Democrats said Roberts will now be held to a higher standard, although they had found little in his record to suggest they would thwart his nomination as associate justice.

“Now that the president has said he will nominate Judge Roberts as chief justice, the stakes are higher and the Senate’s advice and consent responsibility is even more important,” Democratic leader Harry Reid said Monday in a statement. “The Senate must be vigilant.”
