In the brushy area to the north of the Marriott the police are doing an intense search. Press and all have been moved far away. Roads are blocked off.

Also in that area there was found earlier in the day a pair of women’s underwear and a number of condoms. However, this is a lovers lane type area. Not sure what to make of this last fact yet.

However, the stories now coming from the arrested group would likely place evidence in this area of the island.

From ABC News, Aruban Police Launch New Search for Teen

Nearly three dozen police officers launched a search Tuesday along a beach near the Marriott Hotel for Natalee Holloway after a former security guard alleged that one of three youths seen with the missing teenager had lied to police.

Antonius “Mickey” John said he was detained in a cell adjacent to one of the young men, 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe, and that the two spent time talking.

John, 30, said Kalpoe told him that he and his 18-year-old brother, Satish, and their 17-year-old Dutch friend never went back to the Holiday Inn the morning of May 30, the day Holloway disappeared on this Dutch Caribbean island during a student trip.

Kalpoe said they instead dropped the Dutch youth and Holloway off near the Marriott, located just north of the Holiday Inn, on the same beach.

Police cordoned off a three-block area near the Marriott, and government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg confirmed it was yet another search for the 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Ala., High School.

Update: According to Canal 90, one of the 3 boys told the cops that they burried Natalie at the Fisherman’s Huts and that the FBI has two dogs on the scene.

From Fox News, Aruba Authorities Begin New Search for Clues

ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Investigators in Aruba began searching Tuesday in an area near the island’s hotel district following a new tip in the mystery surrounding Natalee Holloway.

A boy who found a pair of women’s underpants, used condoms and condom wrappers near a small pond in the Palm Beach area north of the Alabama teenager’s hotel phoned his find in to police.

Authorities said the area was a popular hangout among teens and that the items were nothing unusual, but a dearth of clues to Holloway’s whereabouts was prompting police to follow every lead.

A representative of the Aruban prime minister’s office and the police commissioner were on the scene, yet another indication of how eager the tranquil island paradise is to show the world how seriously it is taking the Alabama teen’s disappearance. Police Chief Jan van Stratten was to speak at a press conference Tuesday afternoon

Video from MSNBC

News update 4:33 same as before search in very thick brush, fire truck being used, paths. Draining the draining ditch. Police dogs being used by the FBI.

Lessons From A Court Room

I have promised myself this is the last post I will do on Michael Jackson. The verdict is in and although many may not agree, we all have to live with it. I think we can learn two very valuable lessons from the charade that was the Michael Jackson trial.

1. Settle your case and do not ever let a jury “of your peers” decide your fate.
2. ‘Don’t snap your fingers’ in Court.

“I disliked it intently when she snapped her fingers at us,” said Juror No. 5, a 79-year-old great- grandmother.

“That’s when I thought, ‘Don’t snap your fingers at me, lady.’ “

Jury of your peers. Who’s peer’s?

But somehow juror #5 did not dislike intently the idea that a 40 year old man admittedly sleeps with boys that are of no relation to him in a palatial mansion with how many bedrooms? Juror #5 better get a sense of perspective. Oh, but know his lawyer says, he is not going to do that anymore. Atty. Mesereau, do what, exactly?

Then there was juror #1 who made this brilliant comment,

I feel that Michael Jackson has probably molested boys,” Hultman said on CNN. “To be in your bedroom for 365 straight days and not do something more than just watch television and eat popcorn, that doesn’t make sense to me.

But that doesn’t make him guilty of the charges that were presented.”

WHAT!!! This man just admitted he thought he was a child molester and thinks that it only happens on occasion. This jury put the mother ahead of a suspected child molester that many of them though had in fact committed the crime? (Red just shakes his head in disbelief).

The Moderate Voice asks, “will he change his lifestyle”? Red says, “nope, his handlers will just do a better job of covering it up in the future. Or maybe Michael will just buy an island with no media accessibility”.

CNN, Attorney: Jackson will be more careful

Michael Jackson’s lead defense attorney said Tuesday that he believes his client’s behavior will change now that Jackson has been acquitted of charges including child molestation.

Yeah, I bet he will. Atty. Mesereau, Gee ya think?

VP Cheney; Dean Has Never Won Anything

Yesterday, Vice President Cheney basically called Howard Dean a horse’s a$$. Wait a minute I can’t use dollar signs after the amount of money that Dean has raised as compared to counterpart, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman. Howard Dean has made his Chairmanship all about himself instead of about the Democratic party. Dean wants to use the excuse that Republicans are trying to distract from the real issues. Howard, YOU ARE THE DISTRACTION! In a verbal tapestry of political drive by insults, VP Cheney let Dean have it.

Howard Dean is “over the top,” Vice President Dick Cheney says, calling the Democrats’ chairman “not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party.”

“I’ve never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I’ve never met anybody who does. He’s never won anything, as best I can tell,” Cheney said in an interview to be aired Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes.”

I guess we know for Dick Cheney stands on the Green Mountain state of VT. No maple syrup for you Mr. Vice President.

“So far, I think he’s probably helped us more than he has them,” Cheney said in the interview taped Friday. “That’s not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party.

The vice president added: “I really think Howard Dean’s over the top. And more important … I think many of his fellow Democrats feel the same way.”

As much as the Democrats want to look the other way, Dean is a liability to the party. And why shouldn’t he be? Dean is really a Carl Rove mole.

An Island’s Reputation

This post was originally posted at Aruba Girls Weblog

CasibariAn Island’s Reputation

I’ve been spending a good portion of the weekend on a message board, trying to defend Aruba’s name and honor, and help answer questions anyone might have about Aruba, police system. Most of the posters were normal, reasonable people. There were several, however that were not.

Let me hasten to point out that the moderators of this site are excellent, and they allow a free discussion to flow, banning the most egrerious of trolls inmediately and generally try to get everyone to stay on topic.

There were moments, however, where I was fully expected to get banned when I saw red after reading the words ‘cover-up’ and ‘corruption’ for the umpteenth time. The arrogance of these types of posters is amazing. If an apparant crime against a high-profile Aruban took place in, let’s say, England, I don’t think I would start shouting these words so soon. I wouldn’t start attacking all police officials and prosecutors because the system is different there, or that they are moving at a different pace.

There I was, in any case, trying to answer questions about dumpsters and grey dust and press conferences and translating, all the while defending the cops and prosecutors.

Which leads me to ask myself, why was I so zealous? It’s not as if I love the cops here. They aren’t perfect, they can be incompetent at times, yes. The prosecution can be overzealous and sloppy. So why was I posting that ‘everyone could stick their cover-up and corruption theories up Clinton and Nixon’s asses’? [Cringe]

I think it’s because the cops are our husbands, wives, sons, brothers, nieces, friends. They are us. They are me.

And by God, I’m not corrupt, and the sooner this is over, the better it is for everyone involved. We’re tired of Nancy Grace implying our ineptness, while Nancy Grace knows jack shit about our legal system. Having Fox let Bill O’Reilly us a bunch of prostitutes and criminals while paying Mark Fuhrman to share his infinite wisdom with the masses is beyond the pale.

We like America. We like their people (mostly), we like their attitude, their movies, music, products. But right now, disillusionment is setting in heavily with these clowns that they’ve sent here and carry the title of reporters. We have Geraldo here, for crying out loud.

We’re just getting tired of being the scapegoat of a young girl making a foolish decision.
