The Birmingham News, Progress of Aruba probe under question
The release from jail of a party boat disc jockey a day after the freeing of a second suspect raised questions Monday about the progress of the investigation into the disappearance of an Alabama teenager on a school trip to the Caribbean.
The three people who remain detained in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were among the last seen with her on May 30. The next day, she didn’t show up to fly back to Alabama.
Aruban officials say a murder conviction is possible without a body, but requires strong evidence such as a confession, reliable statements and forensic evidence of wrongdoing.
Massive searches that have included Aruban authorities, FBI agents, Dutch Marines and thousands of islanders have found nothing.
Attorney General Caren Jannsen declined to say whether the judge’s decision to free the two men harmed the case.
“We are still hoping to find the truth,” Jannsen said.
To further add fuel to the fire with questions of the investigation, it has been reported by Bill O’Reilly on The Factor that the Aruban government has not given the OK for 200 Dutch Marines to help in the search further insinuating that the Aruban government was not interested in solving the mystery. A rather peculiar situation as the Dutch marines were part of the initial searches for Natalee. As per Aruban sources,
“According to an old interview in the beginning, the marine spokeswoman said that the government requested three additional days, and that’s all that the marines could give them. Why I don’t know, it’s not like we’re at war here”.
It was also my understanding that seems to be backed up by some in Aruba that it would be the Dutch who would control the Marines not the Aruban government. Although because this is an Aruban police investigation, the Aruban government would need some type of formal request. Seeing that they allowed it in the beginning, it is rather peculiar they would not continue.
Also according to our sources in Aruba regarding the search of the quarry today into this evening, nothing was found yet.

I give up, at least for a while. I am becoming very frustrated and letting this story consume me . I wish only the best for NH and family……….I will continue to bounce in here and channel surf but I am flat out of scenarios. Is there ANYTHING we have not covered yet? In my heart I feel Joran and dad are in kahoots and hold the key to the Holloways closure that they so desparetly need, until there is evidence to clear him of his digusting lies I will point my finger in his direction, of course with help from the rest of his buddies and pops. If that makes me a bad person for not having blood stains on his clothing to incriminate him then so be it. You can tell he was guilty. and the fact that they have not showed him in any footage latley leads me to beleive that the polis do not want Mr Self-incriminating to have access to cameras so he can strut his bad ass and make a mochary of everyone. Sorry for rambling, half of which I am sure makes no sense. I am going to need medication soon. I cant even imagine what this must be doing to Mom and family.

Hi everyone, I am another very frustrated individual wanting to hear that Natalee is found alive and well. This site provides good updates, thank you. I wanted to ask if anyone heard Joran’s mother say how upset her son was to have missed a dentist appointment when he had to go answer questions at the police station a couple days after the disapperance of NH. I felt that was very insensitive on his part and even if he was/is innocent, that is not the appropriate reaction to take when hearing that the girl he had been having a romantic moment with is missing. Also both stories he gave made him look bad even if he thought, saying those things would let him off the hook. dropping her off at the hotel even though she was falling down because she had been drinking, then later the story changed to spending time with her at the beach and leaving her there by herself, because she wanted to stay there. What kind of uncivilized human being does either of those things? I think he incriminated himself with those stories.
While I’m at it, i think people like S Says need to pray to God you never have to be in the position of having a child missing like this, or you will painfully eat your insensitive words about this case.
I want to do something more. I am willing to pay for the psyhic that finds missing people. Someone mentioned her in a blog and said that she only will do it if the family requests. I will search the blogs and see if I can find her name. In any event, if you know the psyhic can you add her name in a blog. I’ll get it, contact her, arrange payment and I will contact the family in Aruba to tell them that, if they want to try this avenue, I’ll pay for it.

Assuming you are a forensics professor, you are entitled to an opinion just like everyone else.
Regarding lecturing others to write better, you should get to the point instead of trying to sound intelligent by digressing and citing Harris.
Moreover, your abrasive tone and confrontational style of writing would lead me to believe that you are either in high school or junior college. If you are a professor, you need to reenroll in a writing course. You are not a good writer, so you should not lecture others on how to write better.

I dearly hope Natalee will be found alive. I wish everyone the best. I just dont understand why it seems to be only ok to say gentle words and not critical. If we all would say the same things there would be no use of blogs. We couldnt read all types of opinions and see a case from different sides. The different opinions are the main reason I read blogs. I dont have to agree and I dont want to be right, I just want to broaden my look.

Rudy Croes conversation with a Minister of Justice in Holland is basically an admission by the local Aruban authorities that they are no longer able to manage the situation….and that powerful underworld forces have penetrated the local government to the point they are all most powerless to protect tourists or even themselves.
There were press reports earlier this year (before NH’s disappearance) that Rudy Croes had received serious death threats as a result of trying to fight crime in Aruba to the point he needed a beefed up personal security detail. This point was lost on American tour providers who keep booking people in there w/o sufficient warnings….no group of naive young people should have ever been sent to the Island.
The drug related Enterprises on Aruba could care less about the Island’s tourist economy because their markets are in North America and Europe i.e. Aruba is just a convenient distribution point ….and the tourists are now just a source of amusement for them. Initially tourism provided a bit of a cover for their drug related operations but their control over the Island has grown to the point they no longer need tourism.
I think that the NH case is tangled in the Dutch immigration politics. I think the pressure is coming from the Dutch government not to implicate any authentic Dutch. The Dutch want to stop the Arubans from coming to the Netherlands and take up employment. If they implicate a local it would be a very convenient political slogan. The Antilleans are criminals…they murdered an American girl..now they are going to attack “our” girls. This pressure may have resulted in the arrest of the two black chaps early on. They probably thought that the Holloway women everyone of them are racist and afraid of blacks and they would be out to lynch these two black men legally or otherwise based on southern history. But, that ploy did not work with NH’s mother. I thnik the Aruban authorities are under pressure from the Dutch government to implicate a black..or the Kalpoe brothers. Implicating the Dutchmen is a political disaster for the government of the Netherlands. especially the anti-immigrant wing. Larry I don’t think there is any benefit in using time to hide a story. I think the government is fearful of the repercussions of this high profile investigation. The prosecutors wouldn’t want to be remembered as those who couldn’t solve a case. We, the Aruban people want this issue resolved as soon as possible because we can see how devistating this is to the Holloways and Twittys.

Comments like those made by the Minister of Justice shows that Aruba is more concerned about its image than it is about Natalee or for that matter, protecting any other tourists. I may not be a rocket scientist but I am intellegent enough to read and formulate my own opinions. With the proposals of Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, it shows that even the Netherlands have had enough with the Antilleans. I think that the ONLY reason that the Netherlands is not dispatching their Marines is because it will blow the island wide open and expose and implicate just about ever appointed and/or elected official. Like others that have posted here, I too have been to Aruba and I have seen with my own eyes the openess of the drug trade. I was approached on four different occasions by teenagers who were advertsing “marijuanna or anything else you wish”. My girlfriends and I have been going down to Aruba every December for the last 3 years for our yearly “girls paradise” trip. There is a group of 8 and we always go down in December for a week to get away from the duldrums of winter here in the U.S. and enjoy “summertime in the winter”. You can rest assured that we will NOT be returning to Aruba. Cancun is beginning to look more and more attractive.

Larry, remember that for them to keep the individuals detained, every time the judge has to approve a prolongation, the prosecutor must present additional information. With this in mind – there must be new news that they are getting.
I wish I could tell you what is precisely going on – I wish I knew. The police are keeping this investigation very tight as to not damage any potential evidence or tip anyone off. Anything procedural that did not go as the stipulates would constitute reasonable motivation to dismiss the case and then, the guilty might go free.

I for one do not believe in the sex slavery issue. Women kidnapped in America, may be sold as sex slaves in America…but as far as I know, there may be only one case of an American woman as a sex slave abroad…and perhaps more likely she purchased some drugs from the suspects and could not repay them, and hence they took her to be sold as a sex slave!

It is my understanding that the polis must be with the cowboys and basically lead them around the island….The issue discussed this morning early, was they were being led the wrong way on purpose.

Equu have been happy with the local official’s cooperation in this. I think they would be smart enough to think that if they believe in a conspiracy somehow that they would be more inclined to go where they are told not to.
Here is my theory. NH was with JVDS at the beach that night. JVDS left her there like he told the authorities, maybe NH wanted to reflect on her life and have some alone time. NH who was drunk or something began walking to the hotel alone. A mysterious car pulls up to her asking her if she needed a ride and she willingly gets in. JVDS is on his way home at the same time she gets into that mystery car. NH vanishes without a trace. If she is captured her hair is dyed and she is being held against her will or possibly murdered because she is all over the news. There are no eyewitnesses to verify who she got in the car with. The case goes unsolved and 3 boys who may honestly be telling the truth are sent to prison. Just a thought…I could be wrong.
Larry – the Equu team has already searched where the police has searched before. they are going over all coastlines as was already done. I think now, they will try the center of the island I would guess.
PErhaps they will find something there…I still lean to the house in the country idea, yet can not get the caves out of my mind.

Carly- that is a plausible theory; however, the 3 boys’ detentions are being prolonged and that must mean something more. But then again, they can be detained on suspicion alone with minor advancements in the investigation for prolonagtion. As long as the judge agrees with the prosecution that releasing the boys will hinder the investigation, they will remain detained.

All theories are welcome and thanks for yours however, we must not forget that the JVDS and the Kalpoe brothers have told 3 different lies already and retracted a confession therefore, they DO know something as to what happened to Natalee. The day after her disappearance mother Kalpoe told authorities her sons met with Joran to all get their stories straight. This implies that they all had to corroborate each others versions. During intense interrogation, some did not remember exact details and theirs stories began to fall through the cracks etc….. mommy Kalpoe did say her sons arrived home between 3a.m.-3:30 a.m because she woke up at least twice beginning at 1:15 a.m. to check their bedroom and they were not home. The last time she checked on them was around 2:50 a.m. and they still were not home.
I don’t think he would take her home; he wasn’t allowed out that evening – taking her home would mean getting in trouble for being out.

Did anyone read an article on the board yesterday about Joran seeing a psychiatrist since a few months ago regarding anger management and also daddy VDS has been under the judicial microscope because of some of the cases he’s judged and certain dealings with other officials that were not so scruptulous?

I dont’ know where exactly they live but in the Montaà ±a area, there are a lot of abandoned houses, houses in construction and a lot of land covered with cacti and bushes. Maybe they walked there together. It seems unlikely that he could carry her all that way, besides they could be seen.

Some tin gods in a corrupt government that live off the incomes of tourist dollars shaking their glasses at cocktail parties living high off the hog, while you the people of Aruba suffer but now want to pretend that its not so.

I usually try to keep from getting personal, but I feel that I must correct you. Except for a few in here that are obviously on drugs, the idiots are not in this site. There are some exceptionally bright people here that have a better chance of solving the case than Aruban officials. If you want to call someone an “idiot” try starting with the Aruban police. They have botched this case to the point where I will be shocked if it is ever solved.
Now, they refuse to use any of the dutch marines to search because their marines are there to fend off an “invasion”. While putting on a good show to make it look like they are working hard to solve this case, their is strong indications such as this that tell me they really want the case botched.
This site has become a canvas for the self serving. Opinions both positive and negative are only opinions; not information. Bickering, whining and finger-pointing are playground activities. What is so disturbing is the way people lose focus; obviously, at least one crime has been commited and the suspect has done something which he felt he should lie about rather than tell the truth. Well good morning all I hope that the quarry will yield the results. Seems it is deep and full of junk. I wish everyone would not bash each other. If we all worked together with finding Natalee as the goal then this would all go better. I question the judicial system myself but its what we got so it must be accepted. The people of aruba have been way good to the family of Natalee. If there were killers all over the island as some people seem to be posting then where are the bodies. Its absurd. This is an isolated incident. Im from utah so I have no personal knoledge of aruba, but its happening there. You get more from people by being nice than by criticizing and berating them . I. We are starting to loose our perspective and have begun to forget why we all joined this board. We are going around and around. The lack of results on the investigation has been exhausting for everyone, including us, and especially for Beth Holloway. In her case, excessive expectation that Paul van der Sloot’s detention was what she needed to find her daughter, contributed even more to her feelings of despair and impotence.
The van der Sloot’s theory is one that we all gave validity immediately, because Joran was the last known person to see her, him and the Kalpoes had concocted lies to cover where they had been, and Paul acted funny, ran to his car, kept his head down, told Joran to keep his mouth shut, for seemingly obstructing justice, etc. At the beginning, I too was ready to lynch the van der Sloots.
But the question is, do we want to punish anybody quickly, to ease some of the pain, or do we really want to find out what happened and who the real guilty party is.
What Natalee Holloway and her family need is justice. The only way to do justice is to punish the true guilty, whether a van der Sloot not. For that, we all need to open up to exploring other possibilities, even if it seems farfetched. The alternative explored so far apparently leads to a dead end.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they star letting the boys go. First Satish, then Deepak, then …
The authorities need a break to be able to move on. Where will this break come from I don’t know, but continuing to open a door with the wrong key, will keep us all in the merry-go-round.

The only good thing in all this is the day I heard about Natalee (Tues. 5/31) (a tiny article in our newspaper at that time), I began a diet and have lost 12 lbs. I am losing these pounds for Natalee.

Through the whole NH story one thing bothers me. Where were the adults during the trip. Were there no rules in place, time to be back at the hotel, bed checks, head counts, a curfew?…anything? Not even a head count before going to the airport. My boys play on a travel hockey team and there are rules in place for them. Rules protect people. I hope that all parents learn from this tragedy.

Lisa – there a many who have fallen for the bad ol’ drug and have been banned from their families – these crack house are actually what we call ‘choller houses’. A choller is a homeless drug addict. They find an abandoned house and make it their shelter, where is also used to get high and sell drugs.
The police are aware of these houses but cannot get rid of them yet. The govt is fixing up an old motel where these chollers can clean up but it is not fully ready so until then …

There are alot of unsolved cases even here in the US that is not as easy as it seems. Last night for example, MSNBC ran an unsolved Palantine case that took 10 years to solve. Only through a tip of the murderer girlfriend did the case break open.
Frankly we do not know what information the Arubian Gov’t has, so we are working with bits and pieces. Do not let the inability and the impatience to solve a case make you upset or cloud your thinking, instead use the time to ferret details, and follow up with references, the source of rumors, heresay, or posting.
On the way to work I was thinking who has what to contribute, and given the fact that we are on a board will probably never be privy on the real facts…I’d love to have the following information tho.
1. Joran/Paulus/Deepak/Satish current confession or report of the events.
2. MB students who was involved in the altercation at CnC, any other altercation previously to the May 2th with Joran.
3. The exact confrontation chaparones had with drug dealers pestering around the pool.
4. A summary of all jewelry that Nat may have worn, and possibly use metal detectors in the area of Marriott.
5. The flight records, plane tickets of Paulus to see if what time he arrive in AUA.
6. All the Leads that police have gathered and hopefully recorded.
7. Any and all credit card transaction Nat had made, any ATM transaction that may have been used, photos that may have been taken during financial transaction.
8. All and any of the digital cameras used by MB student that might give a clue if there was person or persons that appear in the photos..
7. All clothes of all the suspect that night. Even washing if there is always chances of something that can be used or collaborated. Any dissapearance or absence of specific clothing have to be explained.
8. All the information that may have been on all the suspect computers, and Nat as well.
9. Any diary of any suspect and victim if any, With the help of FBI, any blog or ISP will have backup to confirm or dispel stories given.
10. Detailed itenary list of the day of dissapearance, where was she every hour up to the the dissapearance of 1.30 am. I d also want to know all the itenary of all suspect, including description of places and things they may have seen. I’m talking down to the food they ate, and accounting for every 15min of that day.
11. Confirm all alibis, and also record all the events of persons supporting alibis down to the minute. For Example, Satish/Deepak Mom how did she know the boys came at 2am.? How do we know Paulus is a deep sleeper that night? How do we know the 2 black guards were at SBF? With other words take no verbal alibi as a given.
12. Have the actual suspect trace back the exact route, and do time study, use stop watch.

There was some discussion yesterday about Joran taking NH to a rave or drug party where they were both confronted by a guy that NH hung out with earlier in the week, and for some reason (either intimidation or a gang rape that began), JOran left her there. The guy at the party and his friends were possibly Columbian and connected with the drug trade, and everyone in Aruba seems to be scared of them. Questions…

Assuming this theory is correct, don’t you think those at the party might be monitoring this site, and will try to crack down locals who are posting such details about this party (guys like Simian and some others yesterday). Would’nt the real bad guys harm Joran or the 2 brothers in jail through their connections there in order to silence them? If you guys are truly scared to speak up to the authorities, talk in code and suggest that the 3 boys would not blame the real culprits because of the Columbian’s wrath, why post all that on here. First of all, I am an American. It is amazing to me to see so many Americans blame the Aruban government for botching this case. You seem to fail to see the news in your own hometowns. In America, without sufficient evidence to charge someone with a crime, a suspect can only be held for like 48 hours. If you want to look at mistakes that were made, look at the Jessica Lunsferd case. The police went to the house that she was being held at in the closet ALIVE and did not find her. What happened? about a week later they found her body that was buried ALIVE because they spooked the kidnapper. Now all of the people in that house who had to know something are not being charged for obstruction of justice.
Just because the public does not know all that the Aruba police have as evidence does not mean that they have NONE! They have their system just as we have ours. You should be glad that information is not getting leaked out to the media to compromise this case. Just becasue you don’t know what they are doing doesn’t mean that they are doing nothing.
I do agree that if that earlier post was true about the police chief being the godfather of Joran, then maybe more impartial people should come from Curacao to help or monitor this investigation. My only concern is that there might be a select few in the Aruba authorities that may have too close of ties to the Van der sloots and may feel the need to protect the family if they are in fact guilty.
All in all we cannot keep blaming Aruba because we don’t know anything that they are doing. And I’m sure that all the Americans there that are helping (family, Equusearch) are also bound from talking about things that they know.
Before you start blaming other governments for their shortcomings, you need to look into your home town deep and see how perfectly Americans have solved every crime committed here. May I just remind you that it has taken a couple of decades to catch the BTK killer.

CRS, part of my frustration stems from the fact that my family suffered a tragic situation in a developing country in central/south america and it was very difficult to get answers and see any progress. There was always an excuse given for delays (certain person being on vacation, bureacracy, etc.), and we understood that money payoffs further delayed the case. Yes, I get a little “crazy” because it’s frustrating now to watch the anguish on the HOlloways’ faces while other who pretend to have knowledge advance theories or ideas without facts or without doing anything about it. There honestly also seems to be an attitude of denial here — it’s not the pace of the investigation as much as the attitude around it.

The support was wonderfull this weekend. The fund raiser was quite successfull. We also were able to send baskets of food, fruit, and other bath products, and water along with the money to Mrs. Twitty. It was amazing to see the turn out. Nat is going to love seeing all the pictures and videos of the entire day. People from all over the country came to show their support and it was just amazing.

Observer~ Nat did not spend time with any guy on the island to our knowledge. If you classify spending time with Joran, then that would be 1 guy, but there was not any guys out of the ordinary around any of our groups. Let me put it into a perspective. Nat is a popular person, and all of us are very close friends and a tight circle. However, we all do not like to do the same things as everyone else. I think it’s great that FOX is still all over this story. I think the Aruban gov’t. is indifferent when it comes to solving the case. This is my personal opinion. I believe they want the case solved from a tourism (revenue) perspective, but they’re not really anxious about potentially exposing character flaws in Sloot Sr. (aka judge in training) and his son.
I’m sure people in the States are getting tired of seeing the same news clips on FOX every day, but I’m sure the Holloway/Twitty familise appreciate the support.

Lucy~ There were a lot of Aruban people in the Ca$in0 on a daily basis. We were not rude and smug and did’nt have conversations with people at the tables and around us. We were all very friendly to the people, they are extremely friendly people in Aruba. We would ask questions about where the action was in Aruba and what not, Other than that I can not really comment, but I can say for sure that Nat did not hang around with an Arubian/Columbian drug lord.

If we are getting frustrated, I can not even imagine what her parents are feeling. It is such a sad situation for everyone. Teenagers will be teenagers. Marianne Croes said last night that he is still a suspect, but now that he is out it will be harder to get evidence against him. It is so sad that there are people out there will the key to this lock, but they will not give it up.

I can assure you that there is no Dutch conspiracy to keep miss Holloway prisoner. I think the Arubuans ARE trying their best to find NH, of course they don’t want this case to go unsolved. But you can’t deny the fact that many mistakes were made, and number one mistake was letting the three go when they were first arrested. That was a major error.

I am very tired of rehash and hearing them ask the same questions, but, as Buyme points out, at least it is keeping it in front of us and therefore keeping the pressure on the Aruban authorities. i believe they all know what happened to Natalee since May 30th, van der stratten (the chief of police), van der sloot (one of the criminal), and caren janssen (attorney general) all knew it: It was murder, and kidnapping that resulted in murder. Those were the charges waiting for the criminals since May 30th. The problem they are unable to solve is who should pay with his own life for the crime. They tried to use two innocent security guards, and it did not work. Since then, caren janssen only says “no comment” or “we will not go like cowboys, and arrest the criminals”. Though they immediately arrested the two innocent security guards on a tip from the three boys who were with Natalee, and lied.
They all know who did it. They are just not willing to prosecute them. So they put on shows, arresting some people and releasing others, to conclude at the end that they have no case.
It’s a shame.

Lucy~There were many people around us while we were in the ca$in0 when we were there, and many of the same ones kept coming back. I myself met many Aruban people while there in the ca$in0 that I continued to have conversations with on other days, but none of them went to dinners with us, or hung out at the pool with us, or went to the bars with us, or even came up to our rooms. The chaperones monitored that closely as to not lose count of all of us. We mostly hung in groups of our own like I said before. Joran was even thrown off by all of us bunching together and not really wanting to just spend time with him singley. There is not much more I can give detail about.

Here’s a novel idea for the US media, why don’t you devote some of your free time to Amy Bradley. Since it appears that there is not a wealth of new news coming out of Aruba, help out another family that has lost a daughter in the area. The way I see it, not only does another family get attention drawn to their missing child, it also keeps the media in Aruba/SA to continue reporting about Natalee Holloway. As it was previously mentioned, Greta and the majority of Fox will eventually pull out of Aruba as the NH case becomes more cold, so reporting on the disappearance of another American girl in the area keeps them around longer. Ultimently, I hope that NH is found asap, as well as AB and there is no further need to report about that part of the world. Ohh, if the FBI (since they are in the area) is not being permitted to help the Aruban Polis, why not go out and investigate Amy Bradley, which should not be encumbered by the Aruban Polis/Dutch Legal system due to the nature of her disappearance. Just some novel thoughts being that the current state of both investigations is soo completely frustrating….

Horror, I’ll try as best I can to explain it to you…every once in a while, an event comes along that many people can relate to, for what ever reason. Many of us on this board are compassionate people who have children of our own. To see the pain of this Mother and her determination and will to find her daughter, well quite frankly, it pulls at the heart strings of anyone with a heart. Initial reports stated that when Natalee was in the car with the three suspects friends approached the car and asked Natalee to get out. Someone said she was acting drunk or out of character then. Later reports said that she was not drunk at all. What really happened.

The motivation for my posts are simply this regardless of whether or not Natalee Holloway is found alive or dead (I pray that she is found alive), her disappearance has generated a lot of attention by the world media. This is attention that can be used to help solve the disappearance of fellow American’s (eg Amy Bradley). Judging by how Natalee’s character has been described, she and her family would be all for channeling the attention on their case to helping the families of other missing Americans. Also, we have witnessed so many (proceedural) mistakes in the handling of Natalee’s case, I think it would be a huge mistake if more attention is not drawn to Amy Bradley. Especially since the nature of their disappearnces are soo similar. It is time to bring these girls home. Amy Bradley and her family will definitely benefit from all of this current media attention, attention that was not there eight years ago and I think fellow Americans/humanitarians along with the Holloway family would agree.

There are many, many things we do not know involving this case. Maybe some forensics were found in some of the cars impounded, maybe there were bruises, cuts etc…on the three suspects from the time they were initially questioned and later to have had their phones tapped etc….Why in the heck would Joran and the Kalpoe brothers blame two innocent black men? Really, think about it?
How many cases in the US have been blamed on black people that were innocent only later to find out the real criminal was not black at all. People commit crimes of all races. We know that for sure but just maybe daddy Van Der Sloot convinced all three boys that blaming a person of color would CAUSE AN IMMEIDATE arrest and by them more time to clean up, get their stories straight and deter attention from themselves! Two arrested immediately just simply by saying they saw two security guards approach her stumbling versus the three that actually were spotted by a crowd of many leaving in Joran’s car! Again, IN IT UP TO HIS RECEEDING HAIRLINE!
So Joran hit on other MB girls as well? For me, then, the next question is why? Simply because he fancies himself a ladies man and is a big fish in a small pond? Or, was he scouting for victims to trade or sell, like whomever sold Amy Bradley while she was on her cruise?
If I’m reading Simian and Shango correctly, then they seem to think that she was killed or sold at a rave party, that Jordan and his friends are indeed guilty of SOMETHING, that the Aruban police and their higher-ups are corrupt, that Joran and his friends/family are afraid, justifiably, of exposing the corruption, and that behind the scenes the authorities are nervous about the scrutiny from the US and the rest of the world due to this case and are considering sacrificing someone involved in order to make this all go away.

Natalee is a young girl who travelled to a resort foreign to her country. This is common practice to many, many countries. Her group trusted their safety would be protected and valued. Carly, I am not naive. I was Natalee’s age. Even if she was at the bottom of “his totem pole” if he were ANY KIND OF A HUMAN BEING he would have been out there to help find Natalee a few days later when he realized how serious it was. He would have wanted to look innocent. His father would not have told them to say nothing right after the Holloways and Twitty’s got there.
Joran and others think they have gotten away with this. People will not forget. Beth H Twitty will not let them forget, nor should she. Many will not let them forget.
This is about the future of young Americans travelling and others getting ideas in their head that they too can get away with it because their laws are different. That is the message that will be sent.
Natalee is there. She is waiting to be found. Patience will enable those to do so.
I would like to readdress the Mercenary comment. Mercenaries are different than in the movies. Mercenaries are able to move about and find information, learn things and discover answers because they have skills such as: covert operations. That does not always mean violence and killing.
