Texas EquuSearch Delayed Until Friday

The volunteer group Texas EquuSearch has delayed their arrival in to Aruba to begin searching for Natalee Holloway, according to the AP.

A volunteer Texas rescue group has postponed until Friday a trip to Aruba to help search for a missing U.S. teenager because of delays in getting permits for their search dogs, a group member said Wednesday.

Texas EquuSearch has a verbal agreement from Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber to bring three dogs in, but on Wednesday was still waiting for the official papers, said Joe Huston, a volunteer diver for the group.

Holloway’s uncle, Paul Reynolds, who lives in Houston, asked for the Texas search group’s help because the family was frustrated that three weeks of searches on the island had turned up nothing.

Let’s just hope that someone within the Aruban government cuts through the red tape and expedites the permits for the Texas EquuSearch. The more searching for Natalee the better and sooner rather than later.

Sounds like a stall by Aruban to me.
      - I just don’t know anymore – what is going on?

I have to say, the interest & response ($$, logistical, investigative) by the wanna-be mega-nation known has the EU sure has been underwhelming. No wonder the Dutch rejected the constitution.

    3. Blackspeare on June 22nd, 2005 11:46 am

Omega is more than likely correct. Taking live animals into a foreign country is always difficult and usually requires a quarantine period. Of course it could be expedited, but why. All they have to do is find a mis-date on the dogs papers to make it more difficult.

    4. Omega on June 22nd, 2005 11:49 am

How long did they have to wait to bring the dogs from Miami -

    5. CaveCricket on June 22nd, 2005 12:20 pm

sounds fishy to me…..lets just hope they (Aruba) speed things up for the family

I brought a puppy back from Cozumel in 1993. Not difficult at all! See:

    7. TexasBelle on June 22nd, 2005 12:33 pm

You would think with the circumstances that they could wave certain waiting periods on animals brought in to their country. When I was little when we moved back to the states from Germany we did not have to leave our cat in quarantine once back. That was in the late 70′s , however in 2002 I sent a Persian kitten to a friend in Hawaii and the kitten had to be in quarantine for 3 months before it went to its final home. I guess the laws are different now, I do not believe you can ship fruit and vegetables to foreign countries either unless you’re like a supplier or something. Any case they should make acceptations here since this is so help solve a potentional crime, and one that could in the long run hurt Aruba’s economy if the case is left unsolved.

its the caribbean, mon, whats your hurry!

    9. Peter on June 22nd, 2005 1:00 pm

Now it’s the RED TAPE game. Slow things down so maybe by Friday we’ll get a confession, the search won’t be needed and all the glory will be Aruba’s. See, we care about you Americans.

Forgive my sarcasm, but it is so bald-faced blatant. A national crisis economically with the life and death orf an innocent tourist in question, and they need to fill out forms.

I also brought a 2 month old puppy back from Mexico. No problems. Spend your dollars there.

Van Der Sloot isn’t allowed to see his punk kid because he advised him not to talk. So much for public concern. Wouldn’t that be an obstruction of justice scenario?? In Aruba, who knows?

And finally, the punk Van Der Sloot is changing his story and it conflicts with that of the two brothers? The scum rises to the surface.

    10. Gail Lamando on June 22nd, 2005 1:05 pm

I certainly hope that by retaining the outside services of a private search firm, they can possibly find the body of Natalee Holloway so that finally, her parents can have some peace. As a mother myself, I cannot even begin to imagine what a horrible state that is to be in. Yes, I do Beth Holloway Twitty credit and I can tell you- I would be doing the same exact thing if it were my daughter. I think she has been tactful, perservering and handled herself commendably given the circumstances of this difficult situation.

For the record, my husband and I visited Aruba last August, and I have to say I definetly felt is was one of the safest, nicest Carribean Islands I have ever traveled to. We even talked of bringing our children with us for the next visit because of how family-friendly the Island was. This has been a very isolated incident, and even in my upper class suburb here in the Northeast, we have infrequent incidents to deal with also. The sad reality is—that one can never be too safe…even in paradise. I do not believe that this is the time for our countries to oppose eachother and let emotions overrun…we do need to stick to the facts(at this point it is difficult since not much information has been released) and let justice be served in it’s due time.

    11. sandy m on June 22nd, 2005 1:10 pm

does anyone know the true facts on this case? i have read and kept up on this since day one but am so confused. first i hear natalee knew joran a few days before her disappearance and that she might have even communicated with him on the internet prior to her trip, but understand now that she didn’t know him? what did he do sneak out to go meet some girl he was gonna take to the beach alone and leave her there after whatever happened was over with. this really bogles the mind, can you imagine if the police are hearing all these different stories too. i still can’t imagine what happened to her body if she isn’t alive and if she is, there has to be someone that has seen something. did anything ever come of the guy who claimed he saw her trying to get money from the atm at the marriot and please tell me if she is not alive, why isn’t there some sign of her purse, clothing or something even if the sharks did get her. please someone try to shed some light on this–it already seems like the biggest mystery book anyone could read.

    12. KKC on June 22nd, 2005 1:22 pm

      Hi Peter,

I just talked with the TexasEquu Search. They have the paper work on the search dogs in order..and Continental has donated free travel for all involved. The customs people are just moving slow faxing the dog’s approved travel documents back to them.

I just wish that Bush would go redneck on Arubas behind already!

    14. Emily on June 22nd, 2005 1:27 pm

I have been keeping a close eye on this story about Natalee Holloway. I am amazed that they have not found anything out about her. I can’t believe that it is taking 3 weeks and possibily even more to find her. I am sure that Aruba may be a safe place to visit, but that doesn’t mean that the people there are. I hope and pray that they find Natalee safe and unhurt. My prayers go out to her family and friends!

    15. Swingline on June 22nd, 2005 1:32 pm

Well, it took the Arubans 11 days to get a tow-truck over to the Van Der Sloot home, they do not enjoy moving too fast down there.

If the EquuSearch group gets there on Friday, they first have to meet with the Arubans to find out what parts of the island have already been searched, which means the Texas Search Group EquuSearch probably won’t actually be out searching until Saturday, and Saturday will be day #27 since the disappearance

It is sad when you think how backwards Aruba is, the USA gives them 70% of their tourist revenue, and then when a family member goes missing there, you have to hope the mother of the missing person comes down to Aruba, and she then has to set up a meeting so she can meet with the Van Der Sloot family, the mother then has to go out and get her own search party, the mother then has to go out and get her own lawyer, and then you get to sit back and watch Mariaine Croes 10 times a day say how she cannot get into stuff and disclose anything.

It boggles my mind why Aruba even has a police department, it seems that the tourists have to bring in their own police resources, it is probably best to avoid the island altogether.

If the mother of Natalee and the international media never showed up, the 2 black security guards would most likely still be in jail, and the Van Der Sloot boy would probably be hanging around the blackjack tables right now.

    16. J.W. on June 22nd, 2005 1:33 pm

I am honestly confused, why is this such big news over there? I’m a Dutch person, and I recall a moment last year when a Dutch woman went missing in South-Africa, and I believe the tragic outcome was that she had been raped and murdered by a South-African man. Yet that story hardly got any media attention at all. Besides from stating the sad facts, that is. And I’m sure there are more plenty of cases like these every year here. Yet we don’t freak out like a lot of Americans seem to do..no offense. Can anyone explain this to me? And for those who are bashing the Dutch judicial system, get a grip..

    17. new to bham on June 22nd, 2005 1:33 pm

think they feel they are close to an ending and want to do it themselves with US help

    18. Diana on June 22nd, 2005 1:38 pm

Emily, you must be used to television shows where the murderer is always found within 2 hours. This is real life, where things take a little longer. And as has been said before, unlike US authorities, Dutch (or in this case Aruban) authorities don’t share everything they know with the general public for legal reasons. I think we must all be patient and pray that all this is over soon!

    19. TexasBelle on June 22nd, 2005 1:50 pm

J.W. That sounds like a question for your fellow country men. If your country did not show the concern that the Americans are now showing for Natalee we can not be expected to answer that.

Yes there has not been as much media attention here that I can remember for any missing person case ; but maybe this will start something new in the fact that there will be more concern and attention given to those that are missing. The main reason that this I believe is getting so much attention is that Beth is not going to let us forget anyone, she wants her daughter and she is going to keep this in the public eyes until she gets answers. Very strong woman to keep up the strength she has through out all of this. Not saying that other parents and loved ones of other missing persons have not tried to do the same, but somehow this story grabbed everyone’s attention and hopefully it will have a good outcome for them.

Keep in mind Natalee nor her family ever wanted nor dreamed of this spotlight at all. So let’s hope this may be a new way of helping other cases similar. Look at the Amy Bradley case nearly forgotten till Natalee’s disappearance now her case is back in the spot light. Wouldn’t it be great if somehow both of these women are found now?

    20. Emily on June 22nd, 2005 1:53 pm

J.W.: No one is bashing on the Dutch, but they are bashing on the Ducth Van der Sloot family.

I mean, if I was Beth (Natalee’s mom) I would beat the $hit out of the boy until I knew were my daughter was. This is ridiculous. I know that the odds aren’t good with her being missing this long, but there is always hope. But, deep in my heart I honestly feel that something bad has happened to her.

Sandy M: I haven’t heard anything about them having met on the computer before she went on her Senior trip. Her friends said that she met him on the last night while they were at the Blackjack tables. They say that Joran wasn’t even sitting near Natalee. They met in the club and went from there. But, what I don’t understand is……if he Joran took her to the beach like he is saying he did, then why did he leave her on the beach by herself? Witch this story might not be true either, but this is so amazing to me that it is taking this long to find Natalee.

      Natalee Holloway Roundup

for those of you that want to cut to the quick, here’s a ‘nut’s and bolts’ roundup on the search for Natalee:

    22. Emily on June 22nd, 2005 2:01 pm

For your information I know that this is the real world, but NOTHING of Natalee’s has been turned up!!!! I mean, don’t you think that they would have found a purse, a piece of clothing, jewelry, or something. I know that they have to hold evidence from the public but, her owm mother is not the public. They should at least be informing her on everything that they find. So get off your high horse and don’t start running your mouth!

    23. Peter on June 22nd, 2005 2:14 pm

KKC – By customs, do you mean Aruban or American?

    24. percey on June 22nd, 2005 2:41 pm

da thing be dat dem peepz just dun wanna talk. I know in da US they use different measures 2 make people speak up (guantanamo bay style). In aruba however, we dun do dat.
Maybe dem 3 dudes do know wa happened, but they just didnt do it. So now dem got a situation dat da police gots 2 search for clues. And dat just takes time. They really doin everytin they can. Dat is wid help of USA and Holland. Its not just Aruba dat is slow. If her body is just dumped at sea, and nobody talks… how can u ever get it back….and how fast could u ever do dat……

    25. William Plant on June 22nd, 2005 2:46 pm

The problem folks is that the Island can not handle a case like this. As we know
they do not have a very strong police force. How can they? They love to say “we
      don’t have a crime problem”.
The case it self is very simple. Natalee was with the three boys and was never seen again. Maybe they should use some old fashion police work and force them to talk.
The Bullshit Dutch law puts the burden on the cops to make the case. So why
would they talk? Maybe a good ass-Kickin will help.
You can be sure of one thing, the only way we find out what happened to Natalee
is to bring in our own people.
No one and I mean NO ONE should visit this island until this matter has been
      fully resolved.
And I don’t care about Aruban’s need for our dollars. This is our power START
      USEING IT.

    26. Emily on June 22nd, 2005 2:46 pm

They say the only thing Natalee took with her that night to C&C was her drivers license and a credit card. I’m not sure if she took her purse with her.

    31. Emily on June 22nd, 2005 2:54 pm

Larry: Stephen Croes, (the boat DJ) knew the one of the Kalpoe brothers from where he worked at the Cafe’. Apparently he either saw or met up with all of them the night that Natalee went missing!

    32. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 2:57 pm

I understand that part Emily…..but why are they holding him just for knowing someone involved? I think the judge may be covering for his son and enlisted the DJ to take care of things

    33. San on June 22nd, 2005 2:57 pm

Yup and Croes knows more that we think. He would be the one to be involved of disposing of any evidence. Has access to a boat and apparently an EMT. He has the stomach for such a crime.

The paper work is delayed from Aruba…That is where they have to clear customs..just like when you fly to St. Maartin or any other non US caribbean destination. When you depart non US islands, you clear customs in the good old USA. (right after clearing immigration).

Maybe I used a wrong comparison, but it just came to mind…
      More measures?? Do share :)

    73. Amy on June 22nd, 2005 3:47 pm

Based on a successful search by Equusearch, if evidence or her body is found, what happens next? Her mother brings her to the US? Aruba sends her to Holland? OR if she is alive, she is NOT on the island of Aruba. Is anyone checking the radar for water-traffic and private air planes in the area of the night/wee morning in question? If alive, she’s hot and being hidden on another contenient…pray for God’s mighty angels to surrround her, expose her to someone helpful, and reveal a plan of escape to bring her back home to Alabama safe!

Also, the suspects clothing worn the night in question should be confiscated and tested for evidence. The surviellance video should confirm their attire.

God’s be on these victims, friends and family during this critical time…may He bless those who are reaching out to help. God’s timing and provisions are complete and perfect!

Thank You Jesus, for your love, peace and comfort & power!

So many conflicts….good grief. Don’t you know that 10 days into the investigation they all had time to get their stories to collaborate? Even after being arrested, they were held together weren’t they? It wasn’t until after they were separated that the stories changed. How about the Holloway family continue their investigation – their way-with the help of the FBI and then ship the four pieces of crap, along with their families, to the US for questioning. It seems Beth Holloway is on to something, including more people involved. Some kind or ring? To me, there are too many people involved for the murder of one person….and with no evidence whatsoever??? C’mon…there is modern technology out there. Do the forensics on the brother’s car – you know, the one that was used to supposedly drop them off, forensics on the party boat, on the computers, etc. This story was featured on America’s Most Wanted which I was told showed websites of the two brothers with girls and Van der sloot’s (or VanderSLUT’s) website was deleted. What is up with that?

    77. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 3:51 pm

The scout was instructed NOT to talk to strangers or confront them. I am so happy he made it……There is a time when common sense comes into play..If I was in the wild for 3 days, I think I would confront the next moving person I saw….I am guessing that MO means Missouri. I am your neighbor then in Arkansas. You know as well as I do that there are many more resources in searching for someone than dogs and horses……It is a small island, nothing compared to our states….. That is why I am saying something is not as it seems in this case

Yepper! I’m from Missouri alright. ;) Hello neighbor!

I agree there are more resources. But….Nat’s Mom isn’t doing half bad on her own investigation! Bring on the mule team, baby!

    80. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 3:54 pm

GO MULES……………don’t tell me Poplar Bluff too?

    81. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 3:57 pm

Nope! But I have an ex b/f from there. LOL

      Clue: Bass Pro Shop

p.s. Had a thought: I say we gather up all the Clydesdales from the Anheuser-Busch family, load up the gang with a supply of brew, get the 3 suspects (or 4) all liquored up, THEN question their sorry asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    82. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 3:59 pm

And bring Josey Wales too??????? Sring I guess then, lol…..love that shop

    83. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:02 pm

Now, would it still be possible to determine cause of death (overdose) after this long in the water? If not, unless her body was weighed down, or a confession (not happening) the boyz will just say she must have gone for a midnight swim….an accident!

    84. crs on June 22nd, 2005 4:03 pm

Mike1 – because of the heat if buried or because of water and creatures – i think there would be little that could be gained from NH’s body.

    85. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:03 pm

      Mike 1

If that theory of yours holds true, she could be tied to the bottom of the party boat and they would not know it

    86. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 4:04 pm

Hell yes, bring Josey! Wait…Isn’t he dead? Oh well! We’ll dig him up! Heard he’d do ANYTHING for a Bud Light.

“Sring” is the correct answer! I have a major investment in that shop…now I’m short on my house payment! Dangit!!!!

On another note…………….ANY MORE NEWS / UPDATES??

    87. San on June 22nd, 2005 4:06 pm

I only hope that if they do find her body (hopefully still alive) that they release it to her mother so she can bury her daughter. I wouldn’t want them to do an autopsy on my daughter because you would never get the right answer.

    88. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:06 pm

Larry – well lets see, if she were tied to the bottom of the “tatoo” party boat, I think it would dispel any notion of an accident.

    89. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:06 pm

what is that internet cafe thingie? Now they’re saying that Croes frequented there. Hmmm……

    90. AUSwerd on June 22nd, 2005 4:06 pm

Anyone think it’s odd that the boy’s mother was out of the country the night Natalee went missing? Anyone find it odd that the nervous-acting father is being questioned, and the latest guy arrested had easy access to a boat? Anyone think it’s weird that divers left the island without putting one toe in the water? My husband and I have had the same theory since the beginning….Kids are partying too much, too much booze, perhaps a GHB-like substance is put in Natalee’s drink. The two are “involved” on the beach (alone) and things get out of hand. I think she either overdosed from a drugged drink or was accidentally killed. The young kid freaked out, had to cover up what he had done and enlisted the help of his buddies and perhaps his father to hide her. I think she was put in the water very far out from land. I find it outrageous that a 17-year-old kid is keeping her family in anguish like this.

    91. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 4:07 pm

      Mike 1:
Determining a cause of death would depend on how much (I apologize for morbidity) remains were found, and how much tissue in tact. Blunt force trauma may be found, but asphyxiation or drowning, not unless an autopsy could be done on the brain and/or lungs.

Not an expert, just from details that I’ve ALWAYS been interested in.

    92. Jerry on June 22nd, 2005 4:07 pm

They probably teach classes in the Netherlands on how to get away with murder. The whole lack of family values is apparent in van der Slut family. The whole country breeds imorality and lawlessness. And Hypertension is on the rise as apparent to Hans the drughead

    93. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:08 pm

San says – you wouldn’t want them to toxicology tests to lock up these creeps and perhaps spare another mother in the future?

    94. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:08 pm

I have not heard or seen anything..CNN does not even have the issue as a headliner anymore..What’s up with that?

Did you get me Bass lures with your investment?

    95. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 4:11 pm

Dunno. Lemme guess…Ummmmm…the Bride has the headliner? Freakin wench!

p.s. I got it all, baby. Bass lures, crappie…whatEVER! Got a bass boat, john boat, pontoon, and paddle boat. Lakehouse is 2 hours away though :(

    96. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:13 pm

I think the Judge may be forced to release these guys this weekend if no confession or new evidence. His hands may be tied.

    97. AUSwerd on June 22nd, 2005 4:14 pm

I HATE that bride. What a pair of phonies. It makes me ill that she has gotten one cent from anyone….I could write about this all day long.

    98. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:16 pm

how come the brothers lied on where they dropped off natalee? First with Van der slut, at her hotel, then the one confessing to the security guard it was at a different hotel. And, what is with the text message that one of the brother’s received from Van? Said he would ‘text’ him when he got home (which never happened). Why are you letting him know when you got home? Odd, isn’t it?

    99. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:17 pm

I guess all high jinks aside, I think they should get really tough on the boys down in Aruba and find out what has happened to this girl…….Yet a little voice in my head keeps saying that there is a thing called free will and common sense………common sense should override free will at times……..

      MOM…..I am about 3 hours from there……..but I ma happily married……friends????

    100. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:19 pm

      Lori….my sisters name too

Would you get into a car at that time of night with 3 guys and think you were going to see Girl Scout cookies?

    101. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:20 pm

I believe Natalee overdosed from a date rape drug. If she is in the water, does anyone know how long are toxicology tests productive??

    102. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:20 pm

oh, I definitely think she was drugged first. I don’t know if I’m following you.

    103. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:21 pm

any theories on the test messaging?

    104. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:22 pm

common sense…….I don;t buy into the drugged thing……..no history on her part and she was pre med..not a dummy

    105. traveller on June 22nd, 2005 4:22 pm

There is something that just popoed up in my mind right now.
Why is that Natalee’s mom didn’t talk to Joran every day in the first 9 days before he was taken to the ploice office? She could have, I guess and maybe she would have taken some information out of him.

    106. crs on June 22nd, 2005 4:24 pm

Traveller – what was she going to do yell over the fence like last night Heelllooo, Heellloooo.

    107. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:24 pm

I think the drugs were slipped into a drink. Again, why is van der slut texting the brothers?

    108. Jerry on June 22nd, 2005 4:25 pm

No hope for any ties to anyone being in the ground or in the water as far as DNA. Physical evidence is all that we could hope for . The body recovered first of course? Then you have a murder, but at this point just a missing person unless someone confessess.

    109. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:26 pm

So your theory is that the three drugged her, had their way with her, and then called the ones dad the judge to take care of the rest?

    110. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 4:27 pm

Larry: Friends? Absolutely! I’m not married, but….have a b/f of 5 1/2 years. ***sigh*** (and he better freakin’ be getting ready to settle down)!!!

      Nice talkin’ witchya!!! :D

p.s. Girl Scout Cookies? Oh my! LOL

    111. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:27 pm

I don’t think there will be a confesstion….they’re all holding out & telling lies because they know the law and know they won’t be detained past a certain day if no evidence shows up.

    112. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:29 pm

Can we still talk via email sometime?

    113. traveller on June 22nd, 2005 4:29 pm

Not necessary crs. Why is that?
Maybe she could have talked to his father also and get into the house. The old man seemed to cooparate yesterday.
It’s strange to me that her mom initially said taht she didn’t talk to Joran at all and then she said the story about being arogant. I heard this today on my local TV station.
There are many things that don’t match on both sides, at this moment. The more I listen the stranger it gets to me. I am not taking no one’s side though.
If they question the boys for so many hours per day, how come that haven’t gotton to a conclusion yet?????

    114. mike 1 on June 22nd, 2005 4:29 pm

It is common with “roffies” to not remember anything…..But it was her last night on the island, even if she did remember, she’d be on a flight home…no confrontation for the boyz. remember the bartender in NY several years ago, who date rape drugged over 50 women? It is island sport to get inexperienced teenaged tourists drunk and take them to the “lighthouse”. I just think these guys went pharmaceutical. You’d have to get a teen pretty drunk / sick to be willing to do 3 guys. But now drugs….!

    115. San on June 22nd, 2005 4:31 pm

Maybe the authorities don’t want to find her body this way they can come up with a nice story. How do we know they didn’t find the body already and moved it to another area where they will never find it. It’s easy to say we looked all over and didn’t find anything when really they know where she is. That’s like when the had the plane flying over the island with some sort of radar. They could have said to the pilot just fly over and make it look good and make sure you come up with nothing.

    116. Jerry on June 22nd, 2005 4:31 pm

I thought the 28th was the day the judge said they would hold all 4 to. Personally I think there are more people envolved in this after the 3 got through with her she was passed around to other people and used up and discarded. It sounds cold I know but there are some cold hearted people out there.

    117. JJ on June 22nd, 2005 4:32 pm

I wonder if she had a cell phone ?……could they track its last activity or whereabouts!!??

    118. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 4:32 pm

no Larry that is not what I’m saying. I think the whole thing was set up….don’t know if Natalee was the target but I think this was pre meditated for sure. I’m leaning more toward Natalee being sold actually. Might be way off base, but it sure makes sense. Even Natalee’s mom said there is more involved and said last week after Croes was arrested “this is only the beginning”.

    119. Red on June 22nd, 2005 4:33 pm

      Just a heads up …

Or maybe she just caught a flight to that beautiful country of Holland?

    121. San on June 22nd, 2005 4:34 pm

I thing they could track her last activity on her cell. When you get your bill at the end of the month doesn’t it list all the phone calls you made? Not quite sure.

indeed I do. First of all, I don’t think these cocky (pardon the pun), arrogant asses are smart enough and capable of this much cover up. Especially with NO evidence. Why wouldn’t a country target a ‘hardly any crime’ location and a teenage graduation destination country? And again I ask….why the text message to the brother? A boat involved… internet cafe….websites….etc.

    128. Larry on June 22nd, 2005 4:44 pm

Larry: Thanx, friend! I already sent you an email ;)

did you check out that ‘toxicology’ link yet? Very interesting. But, it doesn’t sound like the tox. tests would prove to be very reliable, if a person is dead.

Hope that’s not the case, though!!!

    131. San on June 22nd, 2005 4:46 pm

I still believe he had this all mapped out and she was a target. Apparently wasn’t he following her around very closely that evening and he got into a shoving match with one of her friends who came over. He probably got pissed off at that person because they were going to spoil his plans.

    137. San on June 22nd, 2005 4:51 pm

From what I heard on TV it is highly unlikely from the expert investigators. But you could only hope that she is still alive.

I totally respect what you’re saying, Lori..about the guys not being able to ‘orchestrate’ such a crime.

But, is it that it is/was such a GOOD crime, or a botched investigation. 10 days is plenty of time to hide evidence. Especially when Daddy VDS is assisting. I agree that there are more people involved. Very scary!!!

    154. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 5:03 pm

I agree than should just fess up, and ask for experts’ help.

Yeah, Joran’s mother said the were interrogating him 11 hours a day. What are they hitting him with a feather.

    158. Christina on June 22nd, 2005 5:13 pm

I was in Aruba the same time as Natalee and her classmates. When we arrived on Wed.May 25th the first thing we did was sign up to take a ride on the Tatto Party Boat(booze cruise). When my 2 friends and I got on the boat we notice alot of teenagers on the boat.So while getting my drink I asked the bar tender what was the drinking age?he said “17″(keep in mind there was no ID required for the boat ride). The group teenagers were smashed!!! Most of the people on the boat was standing around watching them as they dirty danced, lifted there skirts and made fools of themselves. Here’s the strange part:one of the girls started dance with a guy that was not from their group. When that happen a guy from their group(boyfriend maybe)came over and grabbed her arm and started yelling in her face while taking her on the 2nd level of the boat.NOW Think About This=If that boyfriend was upset that his girlfriend was dancing with someone else and embarrassed her, what do you think that same boyfriend would do if he saw her being dropped off at the hotel where they all were staying with 3 guys in the car? Just a thought. I’m sure Natalee’s Family would be willing to check out all senerio’s at this point!

    159. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:13 pm

good one San! Send him to the US for questioning. I’ll do it.

    160. Peter on June 22nd, 2005 5:13 pm

Exactly. A 17 year kid is keeping this family in grief and this kidnapping unsolved and apparently can not be broken by the Aruban Keystone cops.

And the FBI doesn’t have direct access to them because of stupid pride and Aruban career mindedness. And that’s what these scum punks are counting on.

    161. frank on June 22nd, 2005 5:13 pm

This is what you do. You have everyone you know email and call the Aruban police station. All day, all night searching for information.

You force them to make statements. You have FOXNEWS interview everyone they can get thier hands on. You have them investigate every crazy theory. But you do it in the media. Not on web boards. Trust me if FOXNEWS said that they were investigating a human trafficing lead and the possability NH is not on the island. You will get alot more attention and answers from and Arubans

    162. gal04 on June 22nd, 2005 5:14 pm

…..It has now been 23 days since NH has been missing…..Sad truth is…..we don’t need to be “cold case” files detectives to go with our instincts which tell us that after this amount of time, the worst should be feared. As any case depends on forensic information, it is going to be very difficult to prove any of the detained suspects did this without ever recovering a body or some physical evidence….. However, I believe that what comes around goes around. Just as in the case of Scott Peterson in the US- months after his wife had been missing- her body eventually washed up on shore along with that of his unborn child…..perhaps he also would have walked free had this not happened.

I wish someone could appeal to the 3 suspects who are being held that at this time, another search team is going to be conducting a more intensive under-water search and if Natalee’s body had been dumped in the ocean, now is the time for them to tell authorities and come clean regarding what I believe was probably an awful accident and not a pre-mediated murder. These other theories about kidnapping for the human slave trade or prostitution seem a little far-fetched.

    163. frank on June 22nd, 2005 5:16 pm

Once this hits another week or 2 FOx and CNN and will be gone. This case will be dead. That fast. Another Amy Bradley. Im from Texas, we kill criminals prety quickly down here. More per year than any other state!

    165. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:17 pm

christina….I’m not following you….you think her boyfriend did something? Did she even have one there?

    166. Peter on June 22nd, 2005 5:20 pm

A feather, or a cotton candy.

It should be over in 30 seconds if done right and they REALLY want an answer. I’ve never been to Aruba, but I know for sure that whatever interest I might have had in going is gone forever.

I need to spend my vacation keeping an eye on what someone MIGHT put in my wife’s, girlfriend’s, sister’s, or whatever’s drink, and knowing the authorities wouldn’t give a shit?

    167. San on June 22nd, 2005 5:20 pm

I got that the other day also on one of my posts. They must not like that word.

    168. traveller on June 22nd, 2005 5:21 pm

If Aruba is corropted , these won’t matter. The police delays everything so in case of a crime (I hope not) they will finally find the body, but it will so descomposed that they won’t be able to check anything. And as they said no body, no evidence. If the father has something to do with the crime and because he knows the law so well, the little one doesn’t have to know anything or be very smart.Don’t forget that they had 9 days to talk about and maybe to burry or put the body on a boat. And the authorities know all about it.

    169. Christina on June 22nd, 2005 5:22 pm

Most of the teens on the party boat were all over each other. But with this particular couple the guy didn’t want her to dance with anyone else. Sounds like a young boyfriend to me.

    170. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:23 pm

far-fetched perhaps….but it does happen. I love the part where the detainees are ‘maintaining their innocense’. They certainly should stick to one story.

    171. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:25 pm

      I still don’t see the connection, Christina…

    172. MOMfromMO on June 22nd, 2005 5:26 pm

      Folks….I’m outta here!

Thank you for the information, and support to NH’s family! I hope we have answers soon…AND Natalee!

      Peace to you all. BB

    173. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:27 pm

see ya mom – take care…..

    174. San on June 22nd, 2005 5:28 pm

I do believe the authorities know exactly what happened and they are just not saying. They gave the kid and his family enough time to cover everything up and now they are playing dumb. The chief investigator (the lady with the blond hair) I believe is corrupt also.

    175. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:33 pm

I agree San. But, surely they know the publicity they are getting is not too good.

    176. San on June 22nd, 2005 5:35 pm

Agreed. Too much damage to Aruba due to their negligence.

    177. jgirl on June 22nd, 2005 5:35 pm

From early on, all three admitted having sex with Natalee, and I know it was
not her choice. An accidental death occured, I believe, and with the help of the
boat, they probably took her to the sharks. What a terrible guess, but in keeping up, all
points that way. I hate the fact that if indeed she is deceased, so much time time and
efforts were put in to her search, and her family in such misery, if the thugs knew all along she was dead. I want her alive by some miracle.

    178. San on June 22nd, 2005 5:36 pm

You could only wish then when you turn on the TV in the morning you would see a young girl running into her mothers arms.

    179. frank on June 22nd, 2005 5:39 pm

if htey were originally operating under the presumption that NH was still alive. They may have let them go intitially to track thier movements, etc.

    180. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:39 pm

yep…just like Brennan was found – alive! That was AWESOME!

    181. San on June 22nd, 2005 5:43 pm

Yes, what a nice feeling that was to see him alive. My sister said I better come home from work in a better mood. I told her well they better find Natalee Hollow and I will be in a better mood.

    182. Christina on June 22nd, 2005 5:45 pm

Again this is just a thought:If the teenage girl got into an arguement with her boyfriend and he didn’t want her to act like the other girls and she decieded to with 3 guys from the island,I would think that that guy would be waiting for her to return to the hotel.

    183. Lori on June 22nd, 2005 5:46 pm

Tell me about it. In my dreams I rescued a girl in aruba and was going back for more. And the night before Brennan was found I was in the Utah mountains rescuing my son and my brother. Sheesh…..

    184. Christina on June 22nd, 2005 5:50 pm

The fact that Brennan was found actaully gave me hope again that Natalee my be found too.

    185. traveller on June 22nd, 2005 6:07 pm

The fact that Brennan was found actaully gave me hope again that Natalee my be found too. >>>
What does Brennan have to do with Natalee’s case? Those are 2 different cases, plus they took place far away from each other

    186. W. Brown on June 22nd, 2005 6:26 pm

If Aruba is sooo! safe, why does such a small island need 3 different jails, another prison and why do people of “moderate incomes-aka Van der Sloots” live within a property surrounded by a thick concrete wall, with a large steel gate?? Maybe to keep their guard dogs from running away?

      Bring in the SEALs.

    187. Peter on June 22nd, 2005 6:31 pm

It has nothing to do with anything anymore. The kid was found. Good news.

The mystery here is where is the missing teenager and why the Aruban government can’t or won’t put the screws to a 17 year old THEY KNOW is guilty. With competent interrogators, this should have been over.

    188. sandy m on June 22nd, 2005 6:37 pm

wonder what would happen if the 4 guys in jail were told natalee had been found and was alive. they better come clean before she starts talking or they will all go down for their whole life. can you imagine the look on their faces if they do know she is not alive?

maybe the police should start playing their games and keep changing their story to get a truthful confession.

    189. Kristin on June 22nd, 2005 7:02 pm

did anyone here hear anything about a 5th suspect?

    190. gal04 on June 22nd, 2005 7:09 pm

I know the human trade black market does exist…so I would hope that any documents for plane or boat boarding/departure information should have been closely verified and monitored to, say Curacao or a few other close islands for days following May 30th. Every possible scenario needs to be exhausted and the frightening thing is, it does not appear that the Dutch laws which govern Aruba and the local authorities have the ability to do these things. FBI (which has been known to be incompetant itself) is being used only on a consulting basis. All looks pretty grim. There are sharks out there (ever see the movie “OPEN WATER”—that was based on a true story)—this is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack at this point.

The 4 suspects should have some mercy and not make the local authorities go through this any longer and just come forward with what they do know. As a minor at 17, even if they do have a trial and VDS is found guilty- it is not likely he will serve life imprisonment. He will still have his life, the Holloways at least deserve to know what happened to their daughter and have justice prevail!

Jgirl— How do you know that “it was not Natalee’s choice” to have sex with any of the perpetrator’s ? All everyone is doing now is speculating. Unless you were there—who can really say?

    191. san on June 22nd, 2005 7:54 pm

Natalee intended on going back to her hotel with her friends something happend when she was leaving. I believe she was pushed into the car and they all jumped in to make it look like she was voluneering to going with them. It is kind of hard to do anything when you are drugged and not in the right frame of mind. I think he was obsessed with her and wanted his way no matter what.

    192. san on June 22nd, 2005 7:56 pm

According to one of the editors of one of the newspapers in Arubia. He said that Joran had a reputation of “being out of control”.

    193. san on June 22nd, 2005 7:58 pm

He is a person who is use to getting his way and when he doesn’t watch out bad things happen.

    194. Hope on June 23rd, 2005 12:17 am

Jorans father is working his way into Dutch Monarchy….Joran is 17….a minor…a MINOR…if he fell victom to a mishap, (accidental homicide) he would first:
      a) try to cover up
      b) second rely on dad to cover up
      c) third break down and confess knowing he is 17 and a minor under Dutch law….he would do no real time…his dad knows this, his mom knows this, they all know his dads Judgeship is now a pipedream…..why not confess….why does he not confess…all of us who stay here in this forum day after day, hour after hour still refuse to ask ourselves…what is really going on. Occams razor….

      Occams Razor
“A rule in science and philosophy stating that entities should not be multiplied needlessly. This rule is interpreted to mean that the simplest of two or more competing theories is preferable and that an explanation for unknown phenomena should first be attempted in terms of what is already known. Also called law of parsimony.”

I drempt last night…”in my dream I smell the smell of chemicals…once before I smelled this, the smell and taste of an anesthesia right before i passed out on the operating table at the age of 14, after 15 seconds of this I drempt that something was after me, i fight to get away from this thing coming at me…then this thing becomes headless…I feel slightly safer..untill…the headless thing comes at me again, and now it feels like many many hands pulling at my stomach, more hands than this thing should have…why is it still alive pulling at me”…then I awake…I’ve been semiasleep for 20 mins. Dear lambs of God, I can say that was our angel…on 6/22/05 at 5:20am I was touched…blessed…ushered in…her soul is strong…we will not fail her.

This blog and many other blogs are great tools to discuss and give individual speculations. Unfortunately it also attracts disgruntled individual who like noting but to put down fellow bloggers and their countries. You cannot make a simple statement – these individual twist it and are off and running with foul and hateful attacks. This only shows false pride comes before any real concerned. To work as a whole, as a team is the only way to achieve the goal we all want and expect.
My prayers are with the Holloway, Van Der Sloot, Croes, and Kalpoes families. We must remember, “We are all alike in our humanities”
I am sure I will be attacked for this post — but I will not be back to see it.
      Peace to all~

Does anyone have any current updates on the search teams arrival there?

    198. MJ on June 23rd, 2005 9:29 am

You know not for nothing but some people on these post negative and positive about Natalee like they know her. Nobody here knows who she is and knows her past. Everyone is getting angry at the these people not knowing who they are. Thats the problem with us today we judge too much.

    199. Logan on June 23rd, 2005 9:32 am

Maybe, if this happened to a black or latino or asian girl, no one would be posting anything anywhere and all this would have been forgotten.

    200. Elaine on June 23rd, 2005 9:59 am

This is not a racial issue. Natalee’s mother wanted the two security guards freed. She believed them innocent and wanted them freed. Joran, Deepak and Satish implicated them. This is about three young men(actually more than three) thinking they can committ a crime and get away with it. Is there anyone from Aruba that knows who Nemesis Trapenburg is and if she is related to the Aruban gov’t spokesperson Trapenburg that we keep seeing on the news? Is it possible that Trapenberg and Van Der Sloot (adults) are connected by their jobs and that there may be a slowing of the progress of the investigation as a favor to Van Der Sloot? True this is speculation, but all over the world, not just Aruba, not just the US, people of similar circles protect and cover for each other.
Is it also possible that the Aruban polis and the gov’t know what has happened to Natalee and are giving pieces of information out slowly, while evidence dissapates or disentagrates? I would hate for the world to find that out.
The Tx team with the dogs will probably find her. At least I hope so. Her family needs closure on where she is, but the perpetrators need to be brought to justice. I believe there will be a few more arrests before it is over.

    201. Logan on June 23rd, 2005 10:15 am

C’mon, if it were a black girl missing in Aruba no one would post anything. All this news and reports would not be out right now. No reporters would be on the island no search would be going to Aruba. Lets be real. These teenagers if they comitted a crime, they will be punished, but just like here in the good ol’ US of A everyone is innocent until proven guilty….People here in the US get away with a lot things. Man, look at the president we have.

    202. Larry on June 23rd, 2005 10:48 am

Perhaps they should implement in Aruba, the Tony Soprano method of questioning…..beat the piss out of them until they tell the truth and then execute them

    203. Logan on June 23rd, 2005 10:53 am

No doubt…I know they would of used the Tony Soprano if them boys were here in the states….

The search-and-rescue group Texas EquuSearch has an admirable history of success: In 450 searches for missing people, it has found its target 70 percent of the time. Now the group is turning its attention to a missing person — Alabama teen Natalee Holloway — whose disappearance has stumped hundreds of police and volunteers for more than three weeks.

EquuSearch is sending volunteers to Aruba this week to begin a hunt for Holloway at her family’s request. The organization plans a full-scale, round-the-clock ground and water search with trained divers, night vision goggles and sonar equipment, EquuSearch volunteer Joe Huston said.

“We expect to be able to look at Aruba and see something that other people haven’t seen,” Huston said. “We have a very good record of finding people.”

EquuSearch was created five years ago by Tim Miller after his 16-year-old daughter, Laura, disappeared in Texas and was found dead 17 months later. Funded through donations, the group performs background checks on its 250 members, offers search-and-rescue training and uses a bevy of specialized search equipment.

Group volunteers helped recover remains after last year’s deadly tsunami and have assisted in numerous searches for missing children. Harris County Sheriff’s homicide Detective Ben Beall said EquuSearch can be especially helpful in large counties like his, where wooded areas and vast stretches of land can hinder search efforts.

“They have always been just very cooperative and they definitely are a help,” Beall said.

Paul Reynolds, an uncle of the missing girl, said he asked EquuSearch to help because of its expertise. He said Holloway’s family is frustrated by sporadic search efforts and lack of information from officials on the island.

“Most of the searches have been done by volunteers, either persons who live on the island or tourists,” Reynolds said. “We are just hoping that their capabilities are more extensive.”

Of the missing persons the group has found, 85 percent were found alive, group officials say. But Huston acknowledged that the odds lessen with time — and there could be added difficulty if Holloway ended up in the Caribbean Sea.

“If she is in the water, there may not be a whole lot left of her,” he said.

Holloway, 18, disappeared while on vacation with classmates in Aruba, a tourist hotspot off the coast of Venezuela. Aruban authorities, FBI observers, tourists and local volunteers have scoured the island since her May 30 disappearance without success.

Greta said that at 8p.m. tonight Aruban authorities will decide whether to continue holding Paul or let him go. This is VERY CRUCIAL she says, because that decision will determine whether or not they have a case against him! She also said (this is Greta’s theory, not confirmed). That the reason they are holding Croes is because Kalpoe’s mother said that Deepak spends MOST of the night at the computer cafe on the internet, and when they picked up the computer from Kalpo bros, there were exchanges of e-mails between them during that night. That is why he is being held.

Where are all the locals and Joran family supporters gone? What do you have to say? Was dad Vandersloot arrested merely to fool the real kidnappers?

HOORAY for the american media. The Aruban authorities initially tried to blame it on the black security guards but the media caught on and forced the police to do their job right.

Where are the defenders of the kidnapping theory and Joran now?

    211. Katie on June 23rd, 2005 11:57 pm

For those of you who are confused as to why this is receiving so much attention is in part due to the fact that Natelee’s Mom has made it clear that she’s not going home without her daughter. She’s been able to receive a lot of media coverage because of this horrific event in her life.
