Arianna Huffington Joining the Blogosphere, There Goes the Neighborhood
Huffington to launch site with a cast of bigwigs.
Really? I don’t see anyone from Scared Monkeys as writers.
Hardly seems like the proper venue for Arianna Huffington, in a conventional blog format no camera or audio. Please let it not be video blogging, please I beg you.
Backlash, You Bet
Last year when Gay Marriage Polls were all the rage and many news outlets were claiming that a Constitutional Amendment was not preferred by Americans and would never pass, I felt that it would be only a matter of time before Americans were pushed to the point where there was no other option and a backlash would occur. The Gay Right Movement could not leave well enough alone an opt for a Civil Union scenario that would have been more acceptable my the American public. They would have attained all the same rights, but would not be called Marriage. They had to go further. At the time many Americans did not want to consider a change in the Constitution because that would only be used as a final option. Looks like that final option may be closer than they thought.
Of course the media and the activists took this somehow as a sign to push the envelop. How could they have misread the signs? The results of 13 States making their voice of displeasure clear by banning gay marriage, since Massachusetts imposed gay Marriage upon the state, should have been a sign.
Now it appears that the the backlash is not yet completed as in the latest Gallup Poll:
Public opposition to “marriages” between homosexuals is at an all-time high, according to a poll released yesterday.
When asked whether they thought same-sex “marriages” should be recognized by the law as valid and come with the same rights as traditional marriages, 68 percent of the respondents in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll said they should not.
Twenty-eight percent said same-sex “marriages” should be valid and 4 percent had no opinion. The survey of 443 adults was conducted March 18 to 20.
A similar poll by Gallup last year found that 55 percent thought homosexual “marriages” should not be valid, while 42 percent said they should be recognized.
Polipundit also seems to think the same and has some interesting ideas as well.
The Democratic Party and their Liberal cohorts make a habit out of continuously misreading and interpreting polls. What’s next? Terri Schiavo? It is remarkable how out of touch that they seem to be with mainstream America and only operate in their echo chamber listening to those who only agree with their agenda. The Democratic Party on the wrong side of another issue for the 2006 Elections.

Michael Schiavo Continues to Throw Salt in the Wounds
Amid controversy and objection from Terri’s parents and siblings, Michael Schiavo continued to make a bad situation even worse by cremating Terri Schiavo on Saturday.
Michael Schiavo is required to tell his wife’s parents of any memorial services he plans for Terri Schiavo and where her ashes are interred.
The Schindler’s plan to have their own memorial service Tuesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Gulfport.
I suppose these were her wishes too, whereas there were no written Will either to verify Terri’s specific desires. What’s the rush Michael? Even in time of war enemies have called a truce and take the fallen soldiers off the battle field. Would it have been that difficult to have allowed the parents to have had a Catholic funeral for their daughter and to bury her near them? To the very end and even after no matter what side of the position you take on this story, this is beginning to look just spiteful on Michael’s part.
Kofi, Know When To Say When
These days even Kofi Annan’s fans and supporters worry openly about his effectiveness. His critics, citing scandal after scandal in the U.N.’s domain, say the secretary-general’s reputation has been damaged beyond repair.
“People feel beleaguered, they feel working here is not the badge of pride it used to be,” Mark Malloch Brown told The Associated Press. “There is frustration with the leadership. We’re not seen as fighting back enough. It’s a bewildered, upset staff.”
But dismay extends far beyond the ranks of American conservatives – to longtime admirers like Salim Lone, who was chief U.N. spokesman in Baghdad when a bomb blast killed 22 of his colleagues in August 2003.
However, its amazing the myriad of excuses that they make for Kofi Annan after the scandal after scandal that has taken place under his watch. Its is as if the scandals “including corruption in Iraq’s oil-for-food program, a sexual harassment case dismissed by Annan, and allegations of exploitation by peacekeepers in the Congo, have served as weapons for those in Washington who view the UN as a failure”. Some have thought that Annan will step down after dealing with so much pressure. We are supposed to believe its his good nature in trusting people that has caused these scandals?
So which is it is he corrupt or incompetent? Either ones means he must step done.
