Quote of the Day
From Dean at Dean’s World:
I guess it’s true: the one thing that can reliably be said of today’s faux-liberals is that they always oppose freedom of choice on anything that doesn’t involve the pelvis.
Fox News takes on Radio
You know those 4 minute new updates on the top and bottom of the hour on your radio? The one where the newsreader reads the news of the day that sounds completely different from the host you were listening to the other 26 minutes. Well, if Roger Ailes has his way, that will be changing. Fox News Radio is making inroads into the radio news market.
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – Having risen to the top of the cable television news pack, Fox News is now setting its sights on an expanded presence in radio.
Fox News Radio, which celebrated its second anniversary April 1, offers hourly news updates and breaking-news coverage to more than 300 stations nationwide, along with two weekday talk programs, “The Tony Snow Show” and “The Alan Colmes Show.”While Fox News gets a lot of ink with the success of its cable TV channel and recently with its plans to start a financial news channel that would take on CNBC, Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes said last week that radio and the Internet were among the company’s growth priorities.
“I don’t think there’s a natural ceiling to what Fox News can do,” Ailes said in an appearance Thursday at the National Press Club in Washington.
That’s certainly true for Fox News Radio, which continues to grow under the radar in what is for some radio companies a tough business. Two years ago, the network started with one-minute newscasts every hour from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays on 56 stations.
Now it’s 24/7 and poised to grow even more than the 300 stations it has as affiliates now. An additional 100 stations owned by Clear Channel Radio are due to take news from Fox News this year. Fox News estimates the radio service reaches more than 10 million people a week.
Living near a major city, I rarely hear the canned news reports on the radio, but when I do, it sets my teeth on edge. The tone and snarkiness in these reports towards anything to the right is palatable. They could get away with it when there was no competition. But with Fox News Radio in the picture, hopefully this will also change.
And Now For Something Completely Different
Well I must say I never thought I would hear this from the NAACP. Imean I knew they would think it, but say it? The organization so famous for using the “race card” is accusing others of using it. My God this is not only the pot and the kettle but the entire stove as well. Black leaders of the NAACP, accused President Bush of “playing the race card” in his pitch to sell his proposed Social Security plan.
“Rather than playing the race card to set Americans against Americans, we urge the administration to address the long-term problems the system faces now,” said Bond, the NAACP’s chairman.
It is too bad that Bond cannot take that same philosophy on every other topic that exists today. Because this little comparison was so useful on dealing with long tern issues of terrorism.
“Recognizing the shorter life expectancy of people of color is commendable, but placing them further at risk is no solution.”
Critics of Bush’s plan say black mortality figures are skewed by higher death rates among infants and a higher exposure to violent crime.
What? When will black people wake up and figure out that those they are listening to and vote for at a 90% rate are doing nothing for them. That there are certain black leaders who make a cottage industry out of keeping the races apart. You have a Republican President who is actually taking into account the black bias of SS because of life expectancy yet black leaders are making excuses instead. The numbers are skewed because of “death rates of infants” and “exposure to crime”. How is this a skewed number when it comes to receiving SS? It is a fact and it prevents these individuals from ever receiving SS.
A leader of a black organization that is supposed to be there to help blacks actually turns his back on a plan that would aid blacks. Funny, if it was Bill Clinton offering this plan I am sure that Bond would be in favor of it. It should never make a difference who comes up with a plan that aids minorities. It is this lockstep Democratic Party voting that only continues to hurt blacks. Most people would use their “voting block” to negotiate for perks. Instead it would appear that too many blacks just wish to listen entirely to their leaders even when the opportunities afforded to them would benefit them.

MSM Wishes They Had Reporters Like This
The MSM is clamoring over this eager and inventive reporter who managed to scoop all other reporters. The reporter managed to get an interview with Pop Diva, Brittany Spears. An interview that many have tried to get since the rumors of pregnancy & divorce have been swirling around the gossip rags.
So you think that the MSM is looking to sign up this reporter who scooped the rest? Just one issue, she’s 10 years old.
There is no truth to the rumor that CBS is looking to sign her up. I heard she does a mean fact checking.
What Would PETA Say
Are you kidding me? Could you imagine if this was ever expressed as a means of getting rid of a pest in this country? WHAT WOULD PETA SAY?
David Tollner, the member for the Northern Territory seat of Solomon, wishes to end the menace of the Cane Toads by smashing them to death with golf clubs and cricket bats.
“(When I was a child) we hit them with cricket bats, golf clubs and the like. Things were a bit different, most kids had a slug gun or an air rifle and we would get stuck into them with that sort of thing as well,” Tollner told Australian radio.
Got a problem, come up with a simple solution. No problems mate. I knew there was a reason why I loved Australians.
