Not a Good Sign For Blue State Bases

Today George W. Bush nominated the 8 members of the US military base closure commission Among the nominees are:

-James H. Bilbray of Nevada
-Philip Coyle of California
-Harold W. Gehman Jr. of Virginia
-James V. Hansen of Utah
-James T. Hill of Florida
-Claude M. Kicklighter of Georgia
-Samuel Knox Skinner of Illinois,
-Sue Ellen Turner of Texas

This does not bode well for the Northeastern Blue States that have several bases up for consideration in both MA,RI and ME/NH wherever the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is actually located. More information on BRAC can be found here. The following is a list of recommended base closures although has most probably been updated since its posting.

Many New England Blue State Representatives & Senators had been lobbying Congress and the President to include nominees from New England because of the numerous closure recommendations that exist there. It would appear that they were shut out. I have been saying for quite some time to my liberal friends that there is a price to pay for being so out spoken and voting against the Party that wins. Base closures are for the most part done for the right reasons but that does not mean that politics does not play a major role.
