A POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN BRITAIN … Prime Minister David Cameron is headed back to 10 Downing Street after last nights big conservative party win across the pond. As reported at FOX News, British Prime Minister David Cameron and his Tory party scored a decisive victory over the opposing Labour Party, left far-left and far-right parties in the dust and defied pre-election polls  with a resounding election triumph he called “the sweetest victory of all.” Thankfully, the pre-election polls go it wrong. … so much for the whiz-kid poller Nate Silver who blew the polling … “Shortly after midnight, he was forecasting 272 seats for Conservatives and 271 for Labour. But when the sun rose in London on Friday, Conservatives had an expected 329 seats, against Labour’s 233.”

David Cameron has returned to Downing Street with the Tories having defied polls and won the general election.

The Conservatives made gains in England and Wales and are forecast by the BBC to secure 331 seats in the Commons, giving them a slender majority.

Labour leader Ed Miliband said he would stand down on Friday, saying his party must “rebuild” with a new leader.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has also said he will quit, with his party set to be reduced from 57 to eight MPs.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage is also quitting after he failed to win Thanet South, losing by nearly 2,800 votes to the Conservatives.

In other election developments:

The BBC forecast, with 643 of 650 seats declared, is Conservative 331, Labour 232, the Lib Dems 8, the SNP 56, Plaid Cymru 3, UKIP 1, the Greens 1 and others 19.
The Conservatives are expected to get a 37% share of the national vote, Labour 31%, UKIP 13%, the Lib Dems 8%, the SNP 5%, the Green Party 4% and Plaid Cymru 1%.

Landslide: British PM Cameron, Tories trounce Labour party.

Aided by the Scottish National Party’s rout of Labour in Scotland, Cameron and the Tories left opponents on the right and left in tatters. The Labour Party lost 24 seats in Parliament according to early returns, and party leader Ed Miliband resigned from his role. Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg resigned after acknowledging a “cruel and punishing defeat,” in which his left-of-center part suffered its worst-ever defeat – dropping from 57 seats to just 8. On the right, UK Independence Party Leader Nigel Farage, a thorn in Cameron’s side, failed to win a seat and resigned as party leader.

The resounding victory left Cameron and his party with the needed 323 seats for a majority, meaning he won’t need to form a coalition government and now has a mandate to implement the party’s full agenda of cutting government, entitlements and taxes.

“I think this is the sweetest victory of all,” Cameron said. “There are so many things to be proud of in this result. The fact we held on in Scotland. The fact we extended our representation in Wales. The fact that candidates I have seen work so hard week in, week out, some of them year in, year out, have triumphed in so many seats.”

The first known photograph has emerged of Mohammed Emwazi – the Islamic State militant known as “Jihadi John” – as an adult.

Showing him with a goatee beard and wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap, the image is revealed in student records from his time at the University of Westminster.

It comes after the 26-year-old who became the masked face of the notorious terror organisation was identified as the figure seen in several videos of hostages being beheaded.

Sky News can also exclusively reveal details of Emwazi’s academic achievements during his stint at the university in London’s Cavendish campus, between 2006 and 2009.

According to the document, he passed all but two of the modules in his Information Systems with Business Management degree, for which he was awarded a lower second honours (2:2).

The unmasking of Islamic State militant “Jihadi John” as a Londoner who had repeatedly been questioned by security services sent shock waves through Britain Friday, with Prime Minister David Cameron stepping in to defend British spy craft.

Cameron tried to defuse criticism of Britain’s intelligence community, which had “Jihadi John” on its list of potential terror suspects for years but was unable to prevent him from traveling to Syria, where he has played a prominent role in grisly beheading videos.

Cameron did not mention “Jihadi John” or refer to his real identity: Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwait-born computer science graduate raised and educated in Britain. But he said the country’s spies make “incredibly difficult judgments” daily about how to pursue threats to national security and have broken up plots that would have caused immense damage.

Emwazi had been known to the British intelligence services since at least 2009, initially in connection with investigations into terrorism in Somalia.

David Anderson, who is in charge of reviewing Britain’s terrorism legislation, said intelligence agencies may have dropped the ball, but faced a big challenge to identify real threats from “hundreds, probably thousands” of suspects.

According to credible sources, the threat is aimed at Europe,” adding, “The US has improved their security over the summer, but we have not.’’ because of the threat, British airport officials may require devices such as smartphones and iPads to be placed in checked luggage. May? Also, the threat has been deemed so seriously that officials may have an outright ban on all hand luggage. The fear is also that the future terrorism could be carried out by sleepers or western converts who could very likely have blue eyes and blonde hair as opposed to dark skin and beards.

“Everyone is expecting something catastrophic very soon,” a source told the Sunday Express. “We’ve been told that five planes are being targeted in a high-profile hit before Christmas. They’ve been waiting for the big one.”

London authorities were the first to uncover the threat, which would involve midair bombings, a source told The Post.

“There is a credible threat that they’re concerned about,’’ another source said. “They’ve known about it for a while.”

The source said: “High level negotiations are continuing at Governmental level but at the moment there has been little done to respond.

“There is paralysis because of the difficulty of banning hand luggage which is one of the strongest weapons we have against the new threats.

“All electronics may be banned from hand luggage and placed in the hold, that has been considered, and there has been behavior analysis training at airports but while it’s effective, it’s difficult to roll out quickly and is not a sufficient safety net.
