Tropical Storm Alberto heads for Florida
Here comes Tropical Storm Alberto. Batten down the hatches. Even if it does not turn into a hurricane, Tropical Storm Alberto may follow the coast to the New England state. They do not need anymore rain as they have experienced flood conditions throughout the past month. Let’s just hope it heads out to sea.

CNN: First named storm of 2006 Atlantic hurricane season
It was expected to continue growing but without developing into a hurricane.
“The satellite presentation of the storm is not very impressive, so not much additional strengthening is anticipated,” said hurricane specialist Richard Pasch

Hurricane warning issued for Alberto
A hurricane warning was issued for parts of Florida’s Gulf Coast on Monday as the first named storm of the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season gained strength as it headed toward the state, forecasters said. The warning from Longboat Key near Sarasota to the Ochlockonee River south of Tallahassee means Tropical Storm Alberto was expected to produce hurricane conditions within the next 24 hours. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Longboat Key to Englewood.
Let the Hurricane Season begin; Will this Tropical Depression become the first, Alberto
The start of the hurricane season is upon us, the first named storm of the season would be Alberto. Presently the first tropical depression of the of the 2006 Atlantic season has formed in the northwestern Caribbean Sea.
The depression had maximum sustained winds near 35 mph and could develop into the first named storm of the season later in the day, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The depression was expected to move through the Yucatan Channel into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico, forecasters said

UPDATE: Developing Nor’easter Heads Up East Coast
Blizzard warnings were posted from the New York City area into eastern New England, where up to 15 inches of snow was possible, and a winter storm warning was issued for most of New Jersey, the National Weather Service said. Heavy snow warnings were in effect from eastern Kentucky to southeastern New York state.
Delta Air Lines said it was canceling its Sunday arrivals and departures at several airports in the storm’s path, including those in New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Newark, N.J.; Providence, R.I.; Washington, D.C. and Hartford, Conn.
