Federal Judge Rejects Obama Admin & Holder’s DOJ Request to Stop Florida’s Non-Citizen Voter Purge to Stop Voter Fraud

Wow, didn’t U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle get the Obama memo of Team Reelect Obama as to how they planned to win Florida? Another blow to President Barack Obama and Attorney Eric Holder.

Finally some common sense in the ruling of whether the state of Florida should stop the purge their voter rolls of non-citizens. U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle rejected the DOJ’s restraining order. Judge Hinkle stated that the 90 day provision of purging voter rolls pertained to citizens, not non-citizens. What a novel concept, non-US citizens are not allowed to vote. What is Obama to do now? Talk about your bad weeks, it is going to be a toss up as to who might be having a worse week, President Barack Obama or Attorney General Eric Holder.

A federal judge rejected a request from the Obama administration to put an immediate stop to the state’s non-citizen voter purge program.

The Justice Department had asked for a restraining order, arguing that the program attempting to remove 2,600 non-citizens from the voter rolls violated federal voting law that prohibits the systemic removal of voters 90 days before an election.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said that, according to his reading of the law, the 90-day provision did not apply to removing non-citizens from the rolls. But, he also chastised the state, saying there were “some problems” with the way that the program had been carried out.

“Determining citizenship is not as easy as the state would have it,” Hinkle said in a ruling from the bench made about a half hour after arguments concluded. “Questioning someone’s citizenship isn’t as trivial as the state would have it.”

Ultimate Obama Hypocrisy: First Lady Michelle Obama Requires Photo ID for Her Book Signings; However, Dems Against Voter ID Laws

Talk about the ultimate Obama and Left hypocrisy …

The first lady, Michelle Obama, requires a photo ID in order to qualify to get an opportunity to get an autographed book; however, isn’t it the Democrats and the Left that are so against photo ID’s to prove who you are in order to vote? UNREAL. It is the Obama’s that have opposed voter ID laws claiming that it would be unfair to minorities and disenfranchise voters, yet its perfectly OK for Michelle Obama to require a photo ID to get a book signed? So voting is a lesser act than to get a signed Obama book? Sadly, in the Obama’s minds it probably is.

As stated on the blog Obama Foodorama:

On Friday, June 8th, those wishing to attend the event must purchase a copy of the First Lady’s book at the location and leave it at the store, according to the employee. At the same time, customers must also submit their social security number and show an official photo ID (driver’s license, passport) to a Secret Service agent, and they will be issued a wristband to the First Lady’s event on June 12.

The liberal media, particularly Obama-boosting cable network MSNBC has done its best to attack voter ID laws as discriminatory at best and racist at worst.

Just curious, where is the liberal MSM stating the Obama’s obvious hypocrisy? The Lonely Conservative adds a rather interesting nugget, “… it looks like people have to purchase the book before being screened by the Secret Service, even though there’s no guarantee they’ll get their books signed.”

Obama’s DOJ Rejects South Carolina Voter ID law, Call It Discriminatory to Minorities

Obama Admin uses the race card again …

Ahead of the Christmas holiday, Obama’s DOJ rejects South Carolinian’s voter ID law under the cloak of darkness. COWARDS! What else would we expect from these people? Document dumps on a holiday weekend and playing the race card, for the Obama Administrations they go together like peas and carrots. These people will do anything to keep such an event from the news cycle. Especially as Weasel Zippers opines, consider the fact that polls show 70% support voter ID laws. Once again the Obama Admin will be taking on a “Red” state government.

What, me use the race card … never ALWAYS!

The Obama administration entered the fierce national debate over voting rights, rejecting South Carolina’s new law requiring photo identification at the polls and saying it discriminated against minority voters.

Friday’s decision by the Justice Department could heighten political tensions over eight state voter ID statutes passed this year, which critics say could hurt turnout among minorities and others who helped elect President Obama in 2008. Conservatives and other supporters say the tighter laws are needed to combat voter fraud.

In its first decision on the laws, Justice’s Civil Rights Division said South Carolina’s statute is discriminatory because its registered minority voters are nearly 20 percent more likely than whites to lack a state-issued photo ID.

Please, spare us the BS. In a post 9-11 world, we have to show picture ID at the airport, is that discriminatory? We have to show it to the police, is that discriminatory. When you are on a cruise ship or train, you are asked to show ID. When you get a drivers license you must show ID. Oops, looks like I forgot a couple more. Thanks to the Lonely Conservative, she ads to the list of photo ID requirements, purchasing alcohol or cigarettes, entering a state or federal building or cashing a check. HOW DISCRIMINATORY!!! So something as important as voting doesn’t require that we ensure the sanctity of the process. REALLY?  You mean Atty General Holder and Barack Obama are not concerned about voter fraud? From the people who did nothing against the Black Panthers in their voter intimidation case … say it isn’t so.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is correct in calling the actions of the DOJ outrageous.Presently, the SC voter ID law requires and individual to show one of five forms of photo identification.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called the federal action “outrageous,” adding that “we plan to look at every possible option to get this terrible, clearly political decision overturned so we can protect the integrity of our electoral process.”

The Republican-led legislature passed the law earlier this year, and proponents said the identification requirement is needed to ensure balloting is free from fraud. Civil rights groups say the law threatens to infringe on the rights of voters who don’t have driver’s licenses and may not have the means to pay for documentation to get state-issued IDs.
