Secretary of State John Kerry Expected to Sign a UN Arms Trade Treaty Opposed by the Senate and NRA … Treaty Requires Nations to “Establish & Maintain a National Control System,” Including a “National Control List”
Barack Obama’s end run around the US Constitution and the Second Amendment … Secretary of State to sign United Nations Arms treaty that would circumvent Constitution.
Another Obamaination … As reported at The Hill, Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to sign a UN treaty that is strongly opposed by the US Senate and the NRA. A State Department official said the treaty would “reduce the risk that international transfers of conventional arms will be used to carry out the world’s worst crimes,” while protecting gun rights. However, not so fast. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Just like every idea that stats out with good intentions, there is always a catch. There is a reason why Republicans, the Senate and the NRA are opposed to this end around of the Second Amendment. Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) says, “This treaty is already dead in the water in the Senate, and they know it.” Thankfully, these types of treaties require Senate ratification by elected officials of “We the People” rather than Obama giving away Our rights to the United Nations.
Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to sign an arms trade treaty opposed by the Senate and the gun lobby as early as Wednesday, and Republicans aren’t happy about it.
Kerry’s plan to sign the treaty on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York this week has sparked immediate criticism from GOP opponents.
“This treaty is already dead in the water in the Senate, and they know it,” said Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services. “The Administration is wasting precious time trying to sign away our laws to the global community and unelected U.N. bureaucrats.”
A majority of Senate oppose the treaty because it covers small arms, making ratification impossible in the short term.
When is an arms treaty, not an arms treaty … when it is a front to bypass the US Constitution of course. So what is really is in this treaty that pro-Second Amendment folks are extremely worried about? As reported at the WSJ, ‘Obama’s United Nations Backdoor to Gun Control’.
But the new treaty also demands domestic regulation of “small arms and light weapons.” The treaty’s Article 5 requires nations to “establish and maintain a national control system,” including a “national control list.” Article 10 requires signatories “to regulate brokering” of conventional arms. The treaty offers no guarantee for individual rights, but instead only declares it is “mindful” of the “legitimate trade and lawful ownership” of arms for”recreational, cultural, historical, and sporting activities.” Not a word about the right to possess guns for a broader individual right of self-defense.
Gun-control advocates will use these provisions to argue that the U.S. must enact measures such as a national gun registry, licenses for guns and ammunition sales, universal background checks, and even a ban of certain weapons. The treaty thus provides the Obama administration with an end-run around Congress to reach these gun-control holy grails. As the Supreme Court’s Heller and McDonald cases recently declared, the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right “to keep and bear Arms” such as handguns and rifles. Congress’s power to regulate interstate commerce remains broad, but the court’s decisions in other cases—even last year’s challenge to the Affordable Care Act—remind us that those powers are limited.

Huge Liberal Fail: Less Than 100 Show For Anti-NRA March at McPherson Square Downtown Washington, DC
WOW, seriously … where be all the anti-Second Amendment liberals?
Just curious, if a liberal anti-Second Amendment rally takes place and no one shows, is it really a rally? Thus was the case any the liberal anti-NRA march failed event at McPherson Square Downtown Washington, DC. Less than 100 people actually showed up for the event. The Washington Examiner provided 5 sad pictures of the event, and they are truly sad and pathetic. Personally, I find it rather humorous. Check out the pics, there might be actually more media than protesters. And everyone wonders why the Democrats attempt to grab guns failed in Congress.
Participating organizations include Public Campaign, Occupy the NRA, CREDO, Every Child Matters, Moveon, United For Change, USA, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, The Other 98%, and We Act Radio.
As Buzzfeed’s Evan McMorris-Santoro noted earlier this morning, the event featured the debut of a new anti-NRA poster created by Shepard Fairey – the designer of the famous Obama ‘Hope’ poster.

8th Grader Jared Marcum Arrested & Suspended for Wearing NRA ‘Protect Your Right’ T-Shirt With Image of Gun
How do things like this happen in the United States?
Jared Marcum, an 8th grader at the Logan Middle School in West Virginia has been arrested, suspended and faces charges for wearing an NRA T-shirt with the image of a firearm and the words “Protect Your Right” printed on it to school. HUH? Police confirmed that Marcum had been arrested and faced charges of obstruction and disturbing the education process after getting into an argument with a teacher. HUH? The school is claiming that the shirt that Marcum was wearing, an NRA shirt that had “Protect Your Right” on it with the image of a gun violated the school’s dress code. However, no where in reviewing the school’s dress code policy did the 8th grader appear to violate said policy. No where in the dress code policy did it prohibit gun images.
Unreal. This school and this foolish teacher would attempt to ruin a kids life by having him arrested over a shirt with the image of a gun on it. Liberalism and PC running wild. Who knew that a pro-Second Amendment shirt would result in an 8th graders First Amendment rights being trampled? So where is the ACLU coming to his aid to protect his civil rights?
WOWK 13 Charleston, Huntington WV News, Weather, Sports
WOWK-TV reported Jared Marcum saying he never thought there would be a problem with his pro-Second Amendment apparel.
“I never thought it would go this far because honestly I don’t see a problem with this. There shouldn’t be a problem with this,” Marcum told WOWK-TV.
Police confirmed that Marcum had been arrested and faced charges of obstruction and disturbing the education process after getting into an argument over the shirt with a teacher at Logan Middle School, which is south of Charleston.
How does all this lead to an arrest and an 8th grader being sent to jail? Seriously, how does a dress code issue wind up in a school calling the police and attempting to ruin a kids life? Is this how educators think they are providing our children with an education? Maybe the teachers and school administrators need to do a home work assignment of their own and read the US Constitution.
This family should sue this school district and the teacher who he got into the argument with individually.
UPDATE I: The families lawyer, Ben White, said that the T-shirt did not appear to violate any school policy. White said he also wants to get the criminal charges dropped. It was the school that created this incident by improperly interpreting their own dress code policy and then escalating it with calling the police.
Their lawyer, Ben White, said that the T-shirt did not appear to violate any school policy.
“I just don’t understand why this teacher reacted the way he did,” said White, who said he asked school officials to preserve surveillance video of the cafeteria.
White said he planned to meet Monday with Principal Ernestine Sutherland.

NBC News/WSJ Poll: National Rifle Association (NRA) More Popular than the Entertainment Industry.
A new NBC News/WSJ poll shows that the NRA is far more popular than the entertainment industry. In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT the poll finds that 41% of Americans see the NRA in a positive light, while only 34% view it in a negative light. However, only 24% have positive feelings about the entertainment industry, and 39% have negative ones. A rather interesting comparison when one looks at President Barack Obama’s recent 23 executive orders on gun control, yet there were no references to anything to deal with curbing the violence spread by the entertainment industry with violence in TV, movies or print. But of course Obama has a chummy relationship with the entertainment industry and has given them a pass.
As Washington prepares for a political battle over the Obama White House’s proposals to curb gun violence after the Newtown, Conn., shootings, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that the National Rifle Association is more popular than the entertainment industry.
Forty-one percent of adults see the NRA — the nation’s top gun lobby — in a positive light, while 34 percent view it in a negative light.
By comparison, just 24 percent have positive feelings about the entertainment industry, and 39 percent have negative ones.
The NRA’s fav/unfav score is virtually unchanged from its 41 percent-to-29 percent rating in the Jan. 2011 NBC/WSJ poll, nearly two years before the Newtown shootings.
