Barack Obama, the Lying King: White House Econimic Adviser Gene Sperling Admits WH Proposed Sequester After Obama Lied About It in Debate

BARACK OBAMA, THE LION LYING KING: SEQUESTRATION EDITION …

Yesterday on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press,’ White House economic adviser Gene Sperling admitted that, yes, in fact, the sequestration was President Obama’s plan, even though Obama lied about it during the 2012 Presidential debates and more recently. Obama claimed that the sequester was not his idea and something he did not propose. Mr. President, YOU LIE!

“We put forth the design of” the sequestration, Sperling finally admits after a long back-and-forth

What is interesting is that the liberal MSM actually did pursue this story. Although it happens of rarely as Halley’s Comet, David Gregory did make Gene Sperling twist in the wind until he finally admitted that the sequestration was Barack Obama’s idea. Weasel Zippers asks, could there be some hope for the MSM to actually hold this administration accountable? Probably not, but anything is better than the nothing that we have observed for the past 4+ years. Which begs the question, what shape would the country be in and would have Obama ever been reelected, let alone elected if the MSM had done their job and held Obama’s feet to the fire?

From Ann Althouse comes the portion of the transcript regarding WOODWARDGATE:

DAVID GREGORY: Here was an e-mail from you to Bob Woodward that was released. In it: “I do truly believe you should rethink your comment about saying that the president asking for revenues is moving the goalpost. I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim.” When you said “you will regret staking out that claim,” what did you mean?

GENE SPERLING: I meant that, while the first issue of whose idea it was, the sequester, was one I disagreed with him on but I could see how honorable people could disagree. I was trying to explain to him, from a substantive point of view, that the idea that the president of the United States was moving the goalpost by asking for the type of balance of tax reform that raised revenues, that the Speaker Boehner himself, as you noted, had called for, as well as long-term entitlements, together, to get rid of the sequester, was not only not moving the goalpost: That was the whole idea of the sequester. And I think that e-mail was cordial. It was substantive. It was polite.

DAVID GREGORY: But you say, “You’re going to regret it.” I mean, does the president think that’s a good idea to say to reporters, to challenge them that, “You’re going to regret staking out that claim”?

Mitt Romney Discussing the Sequester: “I see this as this huge opportunity, and it’s being squandered by politics … The hardest thing about losing is watching this golden moment slip away with politics.”

This morning in an exclusive interview on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Mitt Romney and Ann Romney for their first major interview since his November Presidential election loss. Romney stated that President Barack Obama and Congress missed an opportunity and have squandered an “almost once-in-generational opportunity for America to solve its fiscal problems.” Romney told Chris Wallace that it killed him not to be president finding solutions to the nation’s problems. Romney slapped at Obama for not leading or bring people together. Instead, Obama was playing politics. There probably are many people right now that wish Romney was president. However, all the US has to look forward to is four more years of the miserable same.

“I’ll look at what’s happening right now, I wish I were there,” Mitt Romney said. “It kills me not to be there, not to be in the White House doing what needs to be done. The president is the leader of the nation. The president brings people together, does the deals, does the trades, knocks the heads together; the president leads. And — and I don’t see that kind of — of leadership happening right now.”

From Bloomberg News:

That opportunity, Romney said in a “Fox News Sunday” interview was the combination of the expiration of Republican President George W. Bush’s income-tax cuts at the end of 2012 and the automatic spending cuts that went into effect March 1.

“I see this as this huge opportunity, and it’s being squandered by politics, by people who are more interested in a political victory than they are in doing what’s right for the country,” Romney said in the Fox interview. “And it’s very frustrating.”

“The hardest thing about losing is watching this, this critical moment, this golden moment, just slip away with politics,” Romney, who lost the 2012 election to President Obama, a Democrat, said.

Romney didn’t say what he would have done instead.

Obama “has the opportunity to lead the nation and to bring Republicans and Democrats together,” Romney said. “It’s a job he’s got to do and it’s a job only the president can do.”

The Waters who Cried 170 Million Wolves … Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) Claims, “Over 170 Million Jobs Could Be Lost” Due To Sequestration

The Democrat sequestration insanity continues …

It’s the end of times America, welcome to the exaggeration of Obama and Democrats with sequestration. Forget the Mayan end of the world predictions, we have the ridiculous comments of California Democrat US Rep. Maxine Waters. She stated in the latest Democrat “Chicken Little”, the sky is falling that sequester cuts mean “over 170 million jobs could be lost.” Maybe Rep. Waters should have had Dr. Evil deliver the statement?

Representative Waters, if you are going to cry wolf, at least get your numbers right so you don’t look like a complete, lying fool, only a complete fool. But as the Ace of Spades says, “Math iz hard.”

Yesterday we did have Mr. Bernanke in our committee and he came to tell us what he’s doing with quantitative easing and that is trying to stimulate the economy with the bond purchases that he’s been doing because he’s trying to keep the interest rates low and jobs – and he said that if sequestration takes place, that’s going to be a great setback. We don’t need to be having something like sequestration that’s going to cause these jobs losses, over 170 million jobs that could be lost.

170 MILLION? What an idiot.  As stated over at Michelle Malkin.com, “There are around 150 million people employed in the United States at the moment. According to Rep. Maxine Waters, the sequester will have such a devastating impact that all of those people will lose their jobs, and 20 million of them will lose their jobs twice.” Or maybe she is counting 20 million illegals working in the US? But one has to wonder why Democrats like Maxine Waters are so worried about all these jobs lost, isn’t it Democrats and her fellow US Rep. from California Nancy Pelosi who think that unemployment is a boost to the economy?

Great reaction at Twitchy; however, my favorite was … Sequester will effect people in all 57 states.

White House Report Claims Sequestration Will Affect Federal Department That No Longer Exists … National Drug Intelligence Center Closed Prior to OMB Report

THE SEQUESTRATIO LIE:

Isn’t this typical coming from our over-bloated and insincere federal government … the OMB’s September 2012 report says that under sequestration the National Drug Intelligence Center would lose $2 million of its $20 million budget. Sounds terrible doesn’t it? There is just one important fact that they left out .., the department does not exists as it shut its doors in June 2012. How much are you willing to bet that there are many more departments just like this that our less than precise and thorough federal government has missed?

If you want a thorough agency-by-agency rundown of the budget cuts sequestration would deliver, the Office of Management and Budget has you covered. In compliance with The Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012, the OMB sent a detailed report to Congress in September 2012. But there’s a small problem with the report: One of the cuts it warns against would affect an agency that no longer exists–and didn’t exist when the OMB sent its report to congress.

The first line item on page 121 of the OMB’s September 2012 report says that under sequestration the National Drug Intelligence Center would lose $2 million of its $20 million budget. While that’s slightly more than 8.2 percent (rounding error or scare tactic?), the bigger problem is that the National Drug Intelligence Center shuttered its doors on June 15, 2012–three months before the OMB issued its report to Congress.

As Weasel Zippers remarks, it would seem that  Sequestration has mastered time travel. The sad fact is that out bloated and out of control, oversized federal government has got so big that no one knows just how big it is or what is actually going on. Imagine what would happen if an outside consultant came in like Bain Capital to streamline processes?
