Former Marine Jerry Delemus to Hold a Draw the Prophet Mohammed Contest in New Hampshire

ANOTHER DRAW MOHAMMED ART CONTEST COMING TO NEW HAMPSHIRE LATER THIS SUMMER …

60 year old former US Marine Jerry Delemus has announced that he plans to host a “Draw Muhammad” art contest later this Summer in August in the Granite state.  Delemus stated that images of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad are prohibited in Islam, but DeLemus claimed that in light of groups who would kill citizens expressing their freedom of speech, protecting the constitutional rights is more important. Note to all, there is a reason why New Hampshire’s State motto is, “Love Free Or Die”.

A New Hampshire man wants to defy an Islamic prohibition on depicting the prophet Muhammad in pictures and plans to host a “Draw Muhammad” art contest in August.

Jerry Delemus, a 60-year-old former Marine, says the freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment trumps any religion’s limitations on such expression, “If we back away from our freedom as citizens a little bit at a time, the next thing you know, we don’t have any freedoms left,” DeLemus explained to the CBS affiliate WGME.

DeLemus said he hasn’t heard from the local Islamic community, but residents in the area aren’t sure the event is a good idea. Eric Adema said, “I don’t understand the point of inciting violence, it’s just going to cause more problems.”

A venue has yet to be determined, but DeLemus says the contest will likely take place in August. He says he recognizes there are risks inherent in hosting such an event, but adds that he plans on having plenty of security on hand.

“I’m not worried about taking a risk,” he said. “It’s more important to defend our way of life in this country, our constitutional rights, for everybody,” he said.

Asked about his feelings about insulting the faith of Muslims who are not extremists, DeLemus cited citizens’ rights to freedom of speech.

“If they’re offended, welcome to America,” he said, pointing to the idea of citizens disagreeing while still accepting each others’ constitutional rights.

The MSM reports this as an affront to Islam rather than what it truly is, standing up for free speech. One would think the media would understand matters of free speech. Sadly, the MSM and clueless folks like local resident above, Eric Adema, who stated, “I don’t understand the point of inciting violence, it’s just going to cause more problems.” Really? I guess the Founding Fathers should have just cowered down to the British with that little taxation without representation thing because they were just causing trouble. To not exercise your freedoms and liberties for fear of insane, radical religious reprisal just might be considered borderline Un-America. How many people have fought and died for out religious freedoms, only to have radicals in one religion threaten to kill if you dare draw a picture.

Are you serious? The retailer PacSun thought it in their best interest to display a t-shirt on Memorial Day weekend of an up-side down American flag. Really? This is how you disrespect the memories of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep America free? Just what kind of a bunch of dirt-bags are you? Although, you have every right to market and sell what ever you damn well please, as American men and women have spilled their blood to give you that right, “We the People” also have every to boycott your stores and never, ever, ever buy another thing from you.

Retailer PacSun is feeling the wrath of customers and military veterans after a photo of a T-shirt on display in one of its stores on Memorial Day weekend went viral.

The shirt features an upside-down American flag, a symbol that U.S. Flag Code makes clear is only to be used “in instances of extreme danger to life or property.” The shirt was reportedly first spotted at the store’s location at Tanger Outlets in Foley, Alabama.

“Screw you PACSUN,” one Facebook user wrote in reply to the company’s “buy one, get one 50% off” Memorial Day promotion post. He signed his comment, “veteran.”

“As a combat veteran I refuse to step into your store ever again,” another apparent veteran wrote.

“Not shopping here anymore,” a disgruntled Facebook user added, echoing the sentiment of hundreds of others.

UPDATE I: PacSun removes T-shirt featuring upside-down American flag following controversy.

A $24 T-shirt that was for sale online and at some PacSun stores could now cost the company thousands of dollars in lost sales.

The upside-down American flag upset one shopper in Alabama, who took to social media. Countless other shoppers chimed in tweeting “respect the flag #BoycottPacSun” and “there are repercussions to your free speech. I will never spend another penny there.”

On Monday afternoon, PacSun decided to stop selling the T-shirt and released the following statement to Eyewitness News: “As a retailer grounded in youth culture, PacSun values artistic and creative expression though the brands that we sell in our stores. Out of respect for those who have put their lives on the line for our country, we have decided to stop selling the licensed flag T-shirt and are removing it from our stores and website immediately. We thank the men and women in uniform for their extraordinary service.”

Remarks at Memorial Day Ceremonies Honoring an Unknown Serviceman of the Vietnam Conflict – 5/28/84

I can remember like it was yesterday, but in fact it was more than 25 years ago, when I stood in Arlington National Cemetery for the funeral of my Uncle and namesake. I can remember the sound of Taps and the 21 gun salute as tears flowed down my face as I laid to rest my hero. A man that gave so much for his country and for me. A man who was the toughest and most honorable, proud and yet humble man I have ever known. By all accounts he should have died in the Ardennes forest during WWII, but God had other plans. However, in many respects he did lose all as he came home forever changed. My uncle volunteered for WWII at age 18, although, when I review the records he was actually 17. He, like 5 of his brothers, took part in WWII. However, my Uncle Red saw the most action in Patton’s 3rd Army. Much of what he witnessed, he took to his grave as he lost so many Brothers in Arms. When he came home some 4 years later after having defeated the Nazis, his own mom, my grandmother, did not recognize him.

As always and on a personal note I say thank you and you are missed to my uncle Red who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. My uncle served in Patton’s 3rd Army where he received the following medals. a silver star. bronze star and multiple purple hearts.  So often he did not want to talk of what went on during his military server and his heroic efforts during WWII; however, true heroes are also humble. It was not until much later when I was in college and became a history major with a specialty in US military warfare and tactics did my uncle open up and provide me with the truth of what he experienced during his military days, some of that time spent in the Ardennes , better know as the Battle of the Bulge.

A note to the Democrat Party, it isn’t always about Barack Obama, especially when it comes to the spirit and what Memorial Day is all about. For some reason the clowns at the Democrat Party posted in honor of Memorial Day a picture of Barack Obama easting ice cream. As reported at The Blaze, the photo of President Barack Obama downing an ice cream cone in St. Paul, Minnesota, last June was accompanied by the message, “Happy Memorial Day Weekend, everyone!” But for Liberals and Progressives eating ice cream best represents Memorial Day and is what the blood of so many fallen heroes who have sacrificed so much means.

Wow, America’s finest men and women have sacrificed their lives for this great nation so that the United States of America can be free and we have a political party that makes the memory of our brave soldiers about one man and eating a frigging ice cream cone. I can’t wait for the 4th of July of Obama eating hotdogs and Veterans Day with a pic of Obama throwing down a Slushie. What the hell is the matter with you people?

Maybe the morons at the Democrat Party might want to take a field trip to Arlington National Cemetery and walk down every row and take a good look at the endless number of headstones of those that made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Because Freedom is not free.
