WHY WE ALWAYS SAY, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP FOR THE POLICE …

An officer with the Houston Police Department was shot during a traffic stop Tuesday.

Police said the shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 4200 block of Main Street near Midtown across from South Main Baptist Church, near a Sears parking lot. Police said they have no indication that anyone saw the shooter.

Investigators said the officer was shot in the back. The officer has been identified as Terry Smith, who is a motorcycle officer.

The driver Smith pulled over had already left the scene and the officer was chatting with a METRO police officer when he was shot.

“The officer was putting away his ticket book and stuff he needed for the traffic stop,” HPD Capt. Dwayne Ready said. “He was leaning over into his saddlebag when they heard the pop and it was shortly there after that he felt pain.”

Officers are gathering surveillance footage from nearby cameras, hoping to find evidence that could lead them to the mysterious shooter.

NYPD Chief Bill Bratton says Hiring Black Officers is Difficult: They Cant Pass Background Checks Because “So Many Have Spent Time in Jail”

SO WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR POLICE FORCES TO RESEMBLE THE COMMUNITIES THEY PROTECT AND SERVE?

New York police commissioner Bill Bratton made a rather interesting comment when asked why more minorities are not hired as police officers to have police forces more resemble their minority neighborhoods and municipalities they serve. In a Guardian report, Bratton’s response was that too many non-white police recruits cannot pass the background checks and restrictions to the job because they have spent time in jail. in other words, convicted felons are automatically disqualified from the NYPD applicant pool, as well as anyone guilty of a domestic violence charge or who has been dishonorably discharged from the military. Bratton suggested that the stop and frisk program was to blame. Really, when did Bratton become such a liberal tool?

So what a are we supposed to do, lower the bar and allow felons to become police officers? I guess they would already know they law of the land of the jails, (sarcasm intended).

Bill Bratton

Hiring more non-white officers is difficult because so many would-be recruits have criminal records, the New York police commissioner, Bill Bratton, has said.

Police departments, responding to widespread protests against several high-profile police killings of black men, are boosting efforts to recruit more non-white officers. But budget restrictions, strained relations between police and minority communities and, according to Bratton, a history of indiscriminate policing tactics that disproportionately target black and Latino men complicate the department’s goal of racial parity.

Bratton blamed the “unfortunate consequences” of an explosion in “stop, question and frisk” incidents that caught many young men of color in the net by resulting in them being given a summons for a minor misdemeanor. As a result, Bratton said, the “population pool [of eligible non-white officers] is much smaller than it might ordinarily have been”.

UPDATE I: But speaking to CBS2, Bratton said, “We are making a mountain out of a mole hill. The Guardian report was incorrect and we are demanding a retraction.”

Bratton was quoted as blaming the “unfortunate consequences” of an explosion in stop and frisk incidents.

He also blamed a strained relationship between police and minority communities.

Bratton said he made the comments, but they were taken out of context.

NJ State Police Battle Violent Concert Go’ers at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford at Hip-Hop and R&B Hot 97 Summer Jam 2015 Concert (VIDEO)

VIOLENCE ERUPTS AT HOT97 SUMMER JAM CONCERT …

In a year in which unruly crowds, violence and throwing bottles at police officers has become the norm … add the disturbance at last nights Hot 97 Summer Jam concert to the list. Out of control concert go’ers threw bottles at police as seen below in the VIDEO. Just curious, was that the Meadowlands or a third world country by the looks of the violence, tear gas and out of control behavior. The concert was headlined by Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown. Really folks, who ever remembers seeing this at a Beach Boys concert?

A major hip-hop and R&B concert erupted into violence after State Police lobbed tear gas at concertgoers who were throwing bottles at police in the parking lot.

Witnesses say the disturbance began around 7 p.m. due to an altercation between concertgoers. That’s when officials shut the gates to the show, the Hot 97 Summer Jam at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, causing a logjam of people at the MetLife gate, which in turn led to metal barriers being toppled and thrown.

After concertgoers began throwing bottles in response, police then took up a defensive V-shaped position in front of the stadium gates as a barrage of bottles pelted the officers.

An armored State Police vehicle came into the middle of the crowd and activated a piercing alarm to try to disrupt the crowd of about 1,000 people.

New Jersey State Police blocking gates outside of the Hot 97 Summer Jam 2015 at MetLife Stadium had bottles thrown at them by angry people in the crowd who were trying to get inside — some without tickets — and they later used tear gas to try to disperse them, according to officials.

Crowds at major hip hop concert became upset Sunday night when the gates were closed and blocked off by police in riot gear. An armored state police vehicle began blasting a piercing loud noise to try to disperse the crowd and police later deployed tear gas.

State police said crowds of people tried to “illegally” force their way into the sold out concert and became upset when the gates were closed and blocked off. Police said crowds began climbing over fences and forcing their way through security personnel. The gates to the stadium were shut and troopers were called in to help maintain order, police said.

Statement regarding tonight’s Summer Jam concert at MetLife stadium.

This evening, security personnel at one of the entrance gates to MetLife Stadium were confronted by crowds attempting to illegally enter the sold out Summer Jam concert by climbing over fences and forcing their way through security personnel. The gates have been shut and troopers on site have called for assistance from several nearby stations to help maintain order.

Troopers and stadium security officials are insisting that all people outside of the gates depart the MetLife grounds to avoid congestion when the concert lets out. There is no number of arrests available at this time.

This is what happens when you create an atmosphere that the rules do not matter and the police are to be blamed for all situations.

UPDATE I: CBS News – NY, “Barbaric — the way they treat our people is like animals. If there was another concert this would’ve never happened,” said one concertgoer.

Note to concert go’ers, you get treated like you act. Who in their right mind conducts themselves in this manner and does not think their is going to be a reaction by police? Do you think the rules and laws of the United States of America don’t apply to you?

The situation became so volatile, a CBS2 camera man was forced into his vehicle while police apprehended a man on the ground.

“Barbaric — the way they treat our people is like animals. If there was another concert this would’ve never happened,” said one concertgoer.
