56% of Americans Say that Thanksgiving is One of the Most Important Holiday

Americans say that Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays.

A recent Rasmussen poll stated that 56% of Americans believe that Thanksgiving is one of the nation’s most important holidays. Most likely because it brings families together and reminds each of us to remember what we are thankful for and who to give thanks to.

Fifty-six percent (56%) of Americans view Thanksgiving as one of the nation’s most important holidays. That’s up three points from a year ago.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds that just four percent (4%) think it’s one of the country’s least important holidays, while 40% say it’s somewhere in between.

Happy Thanksgiving 2009 from Scared Monkeys … Remember to Give Thanks

Scared Monkeys wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and reminds all today while you are with family and friends and enjoying your Thanksgiving meal to remember to give thanks. It is even more important to give thanks in trying and difficult times.

The following Thanksgiving proclamation comes from George Washington and was wrote in 1789.

Two things are self evident from Washington’s proclamation. One, no one writes like this any more and it is sad that we do not have any Statesmen that can. Two, so much for separation of Church and State. Our Founding Fathers had no problem thanking Almighty God for the blessings that were bestowed upon them. In fact, they felt it necessary to do so. Please remember what America had just been through and George Washington felt it necessary to give thanks to God for the birth of a new nation.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey George_washingtonHis will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to “recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.  (Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789.)

A Happy Thanksgiving to all …

UPDATE I: From Michelle Malkin, some Thanksgiving hello’s and Thanksgiving shout-outs from our troops in Iraq to their families. Let there be no mistake, to our military … Thank you!

Barack Obama Finally Acts Decisive & Presidential … Pardons “Courage” the Turkey

Today, with his two daughters by his side, President Barack Obama pardoned a turkey. Contrary to popular opinion, it was not Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or a myriad of other liberal Democrats in the Congress who were the recipients of the pardon.

Barack Obama acted decisive and pardoned “Courage” the Turkey.

Barack Obama stated during his pardon of Courage the Turkey“that he had saved or created four turkeys.” Maybe Barack should have added that only $787 billion was needed to save said turkeys. The One even chuckled at his own joke. You know, it might have been funny if Obama was not actually making fun of his standard “created or saved” jobs stump speech line where Americans have lost jobs and find themselves unemployed at Thanksgiving because Obama’s policies have not saved or created jobs.

There just is something bizarre about the fact that Obama only seems comfortable when he is yucking it up. Obama would later go on to say, “there are certain days that remind me why I ran for this office. And there are moments like this where I pardon a turkey and send it to Disney Land.” On a personal note, Obama has never acted more Presidential than he did pardoning the turkey. He was presented with an issue, did not dither, acted responsibly and decisively. Who knew it would take a pardoning of a turkey to accomplish such a feat.

Maybe Barack Obama can pardon Americans from Obamacare while he is at it.

CBS News Anchor Uses The Night Before Christmas to Shill for Obamacare … More Media Bias

More liberal media bias, but Barack Obama and his minions would consider CBS News a news organization, right? Let’s see what a real news outlet, as per Obama, is reporting on these days …

Obama_Media_bias

It would appear that the liberal MSM these days does not even try to hide their liberal bias and inappropriate behavior. Monday night, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric broke every rule of journalism in providing a poem in reworking the classic Christmas tale of The Night Before Christmas. These folks are always the first to attack Christmas, except when they can twist it for their pathetic, sycophant needs.

A news organization that would openly campaign for a government is called propaganda, not news.

Can you imagine the hue and cry through out the liberal land and The White House if Fox News did this. How is it possible that a news anchor is allowed to openly campaign for a bill in government while supposedly reporting on the same bill? Remember when Obama and his minions said that FOX was not news, but opinion? What would we call this? Or is it different because they are for Obama and his Obamacare government take over of health care?

Twas just weeks before Christmas and what do you know
Senate Democrats are once again praying for Snowe.
They won 60 votes to start the debate
But they’re back to square one and the just have to wait.
Wait for Blue Dogs like Nelson and Lincoln
Who say a public option would mean the economy sinkin’.
Wait for Joe Lieberman who says it won’t pass
And hope Mary Landrieu can change her mind fast.
