On this Memorial Day 2015, Scared Monkeys sends a special thank you to all of the military men, woman and their families who have sacrificed their lives to that We, the United States of America, remain the home of the free because of the brave. We thank from the bottom of our hearts those who we can no longer thank in person for their sacrifice to this great Country. Thank you and God Bless you, we shall never forget you your service and sacrifice.

Please take time today to remember what this day is truly about and the men and women that we have lost.

America has lost so many lives to protect the freedoms and liberties that we hold to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. We have lost so many brave souls to not only protect our Freedoms, but the freedoms of others from tyranny.  On this day we remember that Freedom is never Free and all those that gave all in their service and sacrifice to us.

The words of President Ronald Reagan, Arlington National Cemetery, May 31, 1982:

“The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we — in a less final, less heroic way — be willing to give of ourselves.” [...]

“As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation. And let us also pledge to do our utmost to carry out what must have been their wish: that no other generation of young men will every have to share their experiences and repeat their sacrifice.”

Remarks at Memorial Day Ceremonies Honoring an Unknown Serviceman of the Vietnam Conflict – 5/28/84

I can remember like it was yesterday, but in fact it was more than 25 years ago, when I stood in Arlington National Cemetery for the funeral of my Uncle and namesake. I can remember the sound of Taps and the 21 gun salute as tears flowed down my face as I laid to rest my hero. A man that gave so much for his country and for me. A man who was the toughest and most honorable, proud and yet humble man I have ever known. By all accounts he should have died in the Ardennes forest during WWII, but God had other plans. However, in many respects he did lose all as he came home forever changed. My uncle volunteered for WWII at age 18, although, when I review the records he was actually 17. He, like 5 of his brothers, took part in WWII. However, my Uncle Red saw the most action in Patton’s 3rd Army. Much of what he witnessed, he took to his grave as he lost so many Brothers in Arms. When he came home some 4 years later after having defeated the Nazis, his own mom, my grandmother, did not recognize him.

As always and on a personal note I say thank you and you are missed to my uncle Red who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. My uncle served in Patton’s 3rd Army where he received the following medals. a silver star. bronze star and multiple purple hearts.  So often he did not want to talk of what went on during his military server and his heroic efforts during WWII; however, true heroes are also humble. It was not until much later when I was in college and became a history major with a specialty in US military warfare and tactics did my uncle open up and provide me with the truth of what he experienced during his military days, some of that time spent in the Ardennes , better know as the Battle of the Bulge.

REALLY, THE DEMOCRAT PARTY THINKS THAT MEMORIAL DAY IS ABOUT BARACK OBAMA EASTING ICE CREAM?

A note to the Democrat Party, it isn’t always about Barack Obama, especially when it comes to the spirit and what Memorial Day is all about. For some reason the clowns at the Democrat Party posted in honor of Memorial Day a picture of Barack Obama easting ice cream. As reported at The Blaze, the photo of President Barack Obama downing an ice cream cone in St. Paul, Minnesota, last June was accompanied by the message, “Happy Memorial Day Weekend, everyone!” But for Liberals and Progressives eating ice cream best represents Memorial Day and is what the blood of so many fallen heroes who have sacrificed so much means.

Wow, America’s finest men and women have sacrificed their lives for this great nation so that the United States of America can be free and we have a political party that makes the memory of our brave soldiers about one man and eating a frigging ice cream cone. I can’t wait for the 4th of July of Obama eating hotdogs and Veterans Day with a pic of Obama throwing down a Slushie. What the hell is the matter with you people?

Others appear to be a miffed too like Jake Tapper of CNN, who stated on Twitter, “This is not what Memorial Day Weekend is About”. However, Jake Tapper on Twitter is properly honoring the Day by remembering America’s heroes. Many others on Twitter were not to happy.

CAIR Officials Dishonor American Heroes on Memorial Day Who Gave the Ultimate Sacrifice to Preserve Our Freedom

Yup, we have allowed them to live among us and have a credible voice …

From The Clarion Project: While the rest of the country was remembering and honoring US fallen military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedoms and liberties, some prominent members of CAIR were doing quite the opposite as they questioned whether they deserved to be honored. In fact, Zahra Billoo, the radical executive-director of CAIR’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter went much further and tweeted whether US soldiers should be honored. I remember when such actions were considered anti-American.

Virtually all Americans come together on Memorial Day to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s freedom and safety. Two Council on American-Islamic Relations’ officials spent the holiday weekend differently: Questioning whether U.S. troops deserve to be honored and tweeting that the country was “established upon white supremacy.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group labeled by the Justice Department as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity and unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism-financing trial, disingenuously claims that it is a moderate organization.

Yet, on May 23, Zahra Billoo, the radical executive-director of CAIR’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter, tweeted that she “struggles with Memorial Day each year” about whether to honor American soldiers who died in wars:

Wait there is more. Another CAIR official, Dawud Walid, the executive-director of CAIR’s Michigan chapter, as questioning whether they should honor American soldiers that died in “unjust” wars and occupations. Remember this the next time you see a CAIR mouthpiece on TV spewing BS as a moderate view. It gets more sick, on May 4, 2014 Billoo re-tweeted two opinions that America is inherently murderous. Hah, this coming from the folks who kill innocents, kidnap girls, kill Christians and sentence to death anyone who does not convert to Islam.

Although the annual Rolling Thunder rally’s  (VIDEO) purpose is to draw attention to the fate of American POWs and those missing in action, it is not lost this Memorial Day the current scandal taking place in the VA  over delays in care to US military personnel blamed for dozens of deaths. As one veteran biker stated, “We fought for years to get benefits that we were entitled to. It is outrageous, but what can you do about it? Not much. We may have the best army in the world, but we treat the veterans terribly, especially veterans from Vietnam and Korea.

Thousands of bikers roared through Washington for the annual Rolling Thunder rally Sunday, given added fervor this year amid anger over an ongoing scandal concerning medical care for veterans.

Organizers estimated around 750,000 bikers and spectators had descended on the US capital for the annual eve-of-Memorial Day rally in support of American prisoners of war and those missing in action, as they have each year since 1988.

The awe-inspiring show of motorcycle might includes many US military veterans on bikes, clearly identifiable in leather jackets emblazoned with military badges and medals.

Henry, 58, travelled from Maine in the northeastern United States with his wife and five other bikers.

He said he was not surprised by the recent scandal gripping the Veterans Affairs (VA) department over delays in care to US military personnel blamed for dozens of deaths.
