17 Year Old Cassidy Charette Killed & 22 Injured During Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride at Harvest Hill Farms in Mechanic Falls, ME

TRAGEDY DURING HALLOWEEN HAYRIDE …

A mechanical failure is being blamed for the fatal crash that killed a teenager and injured many others during a haunted hayride in Mechanic Falls, Maine. 17 year old Cassidy Charette was killed and 22 other were injured Saturday night during the Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride at Harvest Hill Farms in Mechanic Falls, west of Lewiston, Maine. The accident took place when a hay wagon being pulled by a Jeep lost control and careened down a hill, where it struck a tree and overturned.

The Saturday night crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Cassidy Charette of Oakland, Maine, according to the Maine Sate Fire Marshal’s office.

They say that two others were seriously injured. The operator, 54-year-old David Brown of South Paris is being treated at Central Maine Medical Center. A 16-year-old, Connor Garland of Belgrade, was transported to Boston Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Authorities say all 23 people on board were injured. The Fire Marshal says injuries include broken legs, arms, shoulders, and backs.

Many of those injured were treated and released Sunday, but some remain hospitalized.

“Emergency crews are on site and Life Flight was called in to transport those needing urgent care. The accident occurred at the Gauntlet Haunted Night ride, a separate venue from Pumpkin Land, our daytime Family Fall venue. However Pumpkin Land will be closed Sunday while authorities investigate the accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured.”

Reports Says that Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson was Badly Beaten by Michael Brown Prior to Shooting

DRIP, DRIP, DRIP … Information comes out that police officer Darren Wilson was severely beaten prior to shooting.

Fox News is reporting that Ferguson, MO police officer Darren Wilson was badly beaten by Michael Brown during the confrontation prior to the shooting death of Brown. ABC News is reporting that the characterization of Officer Darren Wilson being injured in his confrontation with Michael Brown comes on the day that a grand jury was expected to begin hearing evidence in the shooting. Who wouldn’t release such information in a story that has been so one-sided reported and slanted against officer Wilson by the MSM? And a bias governor calling for a “vigorous prosecution”  According to reports, the grand jury will be shown the hospital photo of the office’s facial injuries.

Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of demonstrations, suffered severe facial injuries, including an orbital (eye socket) fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department’s top brass told FoxNews.com.

“The Assistant (Police) Chief took him to the hospital, his face all swollen on one side,” said the insider. “He was beaten very severely.”

According to the well-placed source, Wilson was coming off another case in the neighborhood on Aug. 9 when he ordered Michael Brown and his friend Dorain Johnson to stop walking in the middle of the road because they were obstructing traffic. However, the confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, the source said.

“They ignored him and the officer started to get out of the car to tell them to move,” the source said. “They shoved him right back in, that’s when Michael Brown leans in and starts beating Officer Wilson in the head and the face.”

Wilson suffered a fractured eye socket in the fracas, and was left dazed by the initial confrontation, the source said. He is now “traumatized, scared for his life and his family, injured and terrified” that a grand jury, which began hearing evidence on Wednesday, will “make some kind of example out of him,” the source said.

What sounds more plausible, the accounts above or that Michael Brown was assassinated by a rogue cop being shot in the back when autopsy images specifically show all shots to the front of Brown?

Legal Insurrection has more as to the possible validity that Darren Wilson was beaten badly. Even the NY Times reported it, albeit buried deep in the article.

Further indicating the story may be true is the fact that even the liberal NY Times reported today that Wilson was injured during the altercation. Allahpundit notes at Hot Air that, although the Times buried the news in the 21st paragraph of its article, it was the first report in a major paper that Wilson was injured at the hands of Brown. Now Fox News has climbed aboard, with more details.

In addition, yesterday blogger Jim Hoft had reported at Gateway Pundit that police sources had informed him that Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture to the eye socket” as a result of his encounter with Brown.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch said the grand jury investigation will be thorough. I guess this is the reason why so many want him to be removed from this case. Many with an agenda just want Officer Wilson to be indicted, tried, convicted and put to death as fast as possible without looking at all the facts.

 ”They will have absolutely everything there is, every piece of paper, every photograph, every bit of physical evidence, all of the forensic information,” the district attorney said.

Supporters of Wilson, however, point to a videotape taken by a Ferguson resident showing Brown’s body lying in the street. In the background of the video a man’s voice can be heard saying, “Police got out and ran after him. The next thing I know he’s coming back towards the officer. The police had his gun drawn on him.”

That would conflict with witnesses who said Brown was standing still with his hands raised when Wilson shot him.

Antonio French, an alderman in Ferguson, reacted with skepticism to McCullough’s announcement that it could be another two weeks before there is a decision on whether to prosecute the police officer.

9 Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Performers Injured and Two Others in Apparatus Failure in Providence, Rhode Island (VIDEO)

11 people were injured, including 9 Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus performers, when the Medeiros Hair Hang Act, “human chandelier,” went terribly wrong. Eight female performers fell when the hair-hang apparatus, which holds performers by their hair, failed and another performer was injured on the ground at the  Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, RI. the performers suffered multiple broken bones, head injuries, and lacerations. Eleven people were hospitalized with injuries related to the accident, one is listed in critical condition. Rhode Island Hospital has confirmed that each of the eight women named by Ringling Bros. as part of the act are in the hospital: Viktoriya Medeiros, Widny Neves, Samantha Pitard, Viktorila Liakhova, Dayana Costa, Julissa Segrera, Stefany Neves and Svitlana Balanicheva. The remaining shows have been canceled.

Nine Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus performers were among 11 people injured Sunday in Providence, Rhode Island, after an apparatus used in their act failed, circus spokesman Stephen Payne said.

Eight performers fell when the hair-hang apparatus — which holds performers by their hair — failed, Payne added. Another performer was injured on the ground, he said.

Eyewitnesses said it appeared the acrobats fell about 30 feet. However, Payne said it was unclear how far they fell.

The performers were among 11 people hospitalized with injuries related to the accident, Rhode Island Hospital spokeswoman Jill Reuter told CNN. One of those people was listed in critical condition, Reuter said.

Boston Globe: Nine circus performers injured in Providence.

A YouTube video of the accident shows a pink curtain dropping from around the metal rig, revealing a ring of acrobats suspended roughly 30 feet in the air, facing outward. One performer hangs in the middle, just below the rest.

Seconds later, the prop, and the performers, plunge to the ground, and the prop lands on top of the acrobats. Circus music continues playing, but the main stage lights cut to black and a woman’s voice is heard saying, “Were they supposed to fall like that?”

Peabody resident Ashli Croinex, 22, who was sitting about six or seven rows back, said that after the rig crashed to the ground, a performer who had been standing below was bloody and shaking.

“He was the only one able to get up,” she said. “The rest of them were just silent. They didn’t even move.”

UPDATE I: 1:30 pm Police Press Conference.

Police said about 1:30 p.m. at a press conference that 9 of the performers were in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital, but with non-life-threatening injuries.

3 Year Old Finley Boyle Who Suffered Massive Brain Injuries in December 2013 after a Dental Procedure in Hawaii Died on Friday

Finley Boyle – Rest in Peace

3 year old Finley Boyle, who suffered massive brain injuries last month after a dental procedure that included four root canals and multiple cavity filling, died late Friday night.  The 3 year old girl from Hawaii was left in a “persistent vegetative state” after undergoing four root canals in early December. As reported at  IBT, Boyle’s parents, after learning that their daughter’s brain damage was permanent, decided to remove Finley from life support. The 3 year old suffered from cardiac arrest on December 3 after she was given  “grossly excessive” amount of drugs to sedate her before the procedure. She was taken to a hospital, and then to a hospice center, where she was put on a feeding tube. With no chance of recovery, the family removed the feeding tubes and Finley Boyle died at 8:47 p.m. MRIs showed that it was a lack of oxygen to the toddler’s brain that ultimately resulted in her death.

The family had set up a fund raising web page for Finely.

A 3-year-old Hawaii girl who suffered massive brain injuries last month after a dental procedure died late Friday, said an attorney for the child’s family.

Earlier this week, the family of Finley Boyle, 3, filed a lawsuit against dentist Lilly Geyer and Island Dentistry for Children in Honolulu, alleging that the child was given incorrect dosages of sedatives and that the hospital staff was not properly trained for emergencies.

On Dec. 3, Ashley Boyle took her young daughter to Island Dentistry for extensive dental work, which the family states in court documents was recommended by Dr. Geyer.

The planned procedures included four root canals and multiple cavity fillings, according to the documents.

The Boyle family’s attorney L. Richard Fried Jr. said Saturday that the child was given “grossly excessive” amounts of sedatives, went into cardiac arrest and later suffered brain damage.

The family charges that the staff was improperly trained for emergencies and failed to check the patient’s vital signs for 26 minutes.

UPDATE II:  Family sues dentist for root canal that left 3-year-old girl brain dead.

Family sues Dr. Lilly Geyer at Island Dentistry for Children in Kailua

Finley Boyle went into cardiac arrest about 26 minutes into a multiple root canal in Kailua.  Now, her parents are suing the dentist.

This nightmare could have been avoided, according to attorney Rick Fried, if Island Dentistry had properly administered and monitored Finley’s drugs and vital signs.

The lawsuit alleges that Finley was given five different sedatives and anesthetics without consideration of how the combination of those drugs would react on the body of a 3-year-old girl.

“It appears most of the work said to be necessary by Dr. Geyer was not necessary.  Secondly, the drugs given were as though given individually,” said Fried.

Fried claims the Island Dentistry staff was not adequately trained for emergencies, and on this day had to run down to the hall to get help from a pediatrician.  Record keeping during the procedure, says the lawsuit, was reduced to two scribbles on slips of paper.

UPDATE III: According to its web site, Island Dentistry is closed permanently.

Hopefully this family will be able to sue this dentistry for millions and also be able to put pressure on law makers to enact laws that change how procedures are done for children. Personally I question how 10 procedures could have been scheduled at one time, including 4 root canals. Also, how one could prescribe so many sedatives and not consistently monitor a child is beyond comprehension.   Not only should Dr. Lilly Geyer be sued for wrongful death, she should never be allowed to practice medicine ever again.

UPDATE IV: Lawsuit alleges that as a further result of administering improper medications, Finley “suffered severe and permanent brain damage.”

Finley Boyle was given 5 different drugs, including Demerol and other sedatives. Finley Boyle went into cardiac arrest and no one was there to give the child CPR. The staff had to go into another office to get a doctor to perform CPR. Had they provided CPR immediately and so long a period of time did not occur with a lack of oxygen to the brain, the outcome would have been much different. Family attorney shows records, seen below, that Finley was not monitored while sedated and instead of checking her oxygen levels checked every 5 minutes, it was not done for 26 minutes, which is why the brain damage was so severe.

Terrible Crash on Last Lap of Nationwide Series Race at Daytona International Speedway Injurues 11 NASCAR Fans (VIDEO of Tire Hitting Fan) (Update: 30 Fans Injured)

At least 11 NASCAR fans were injured, some in serious condition, following  a terrible crash on the last lap of a Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway. According to reports, large chunks of race car debris, including a tire, flew into the stands and through the fence. The crash that occurred on the final lap of the race sent rookie Kyle Larson’s car sailing into the fence. Kyle Larson, Regan Smith, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joe Nemechek, Robert Richardson, Trevor Bayne, Mike Wallace, Travis Pastrana, Elliott Sadler, Alex Bowman, Brad Keselowski, and Justin Allgaier were all involved in the accident. While Tony Stewart won the race, its was little concern as 11 14 15 fans were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center, and an additional 14 were treated at the at-track care center.

At least 11 NASCAR fans were injured Saturday when large chunks of debris, including a tire, sailed into the grandstands when a car flew into the fence on a frightening last-lap accident in the second-tier Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The crash began as the field closed in on the finish line and sent rookie Kyle Larson’s car sailing into the fence that separates the track from the seats. Large chunks of Larson’s car landed in the grandstands. The car itself had its entire front end sheared off, with the burning engine wedged through a gaping hole in the fence. Nathan Kimpel, 24, who works at a concession stand near where the crash happened, told CBS News correspondent Adriana Diaz that he saw 10 to 15 fans being carried out on stretchers. “As soon as I saw the accident I just turned my head because I didn’t want to get injured or anything,” Kimpel told Diaz. “I saw the fence separate and more pieces of car parts flying up.”

ESPN reports the following:

Sergeant John Creamer of the Daytona Beach Police said 17 fans were injured, with two suffering “major injuries.” Eleven were sent to Halifax Medical Center where one adult is in surgery with life-threatening head trauma, and a 14-year-old is in critical, but not life threatening condition, hospital representative Byron Cogdell told ESPN.

Six of the injured fans were transported to Florida Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, and are expected to be treated and released.

At least one tire from Larson’s car flew into the seating area at Daytona. Police officers and NASCAR safety officials quickly ran to the location where part of the car went through the fencing, destroying one section of the catch fence.

Initial photos showed several people being placed on stretchers in the grandstands. One woman’s leg was bleeding as she was carried away.

“Right now, the function is to determine what damage was done,” NASCAR president Mike Helton said. “They are taking some folks to Halifax Medical Center. Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone they are working on.
