UNBELIEVABLE … CDC OK’d Ebola Patient Amber Joy Vinson to Travel By Air With “Low-Grade” Fever

IS THE CDC ON OUR SIDE OR NOT … THE CDC SAY THEY KNOW EVERYTHING AND HAVE PROTOCOLS IN PLACE APPEAR TO KNOW LITTLE.

Are you kidding me, a nurse that had treated an Ebola patient who died, and a second healthcare worker infected with the virus, was allowed to board a plane with a low grade fever. I am speechless. The second healthcare worker diagnosed with Ebola, Amber Joy Vinson, traveled by air October 13, with a low-grade fever, a day before she showed up at the hospital reporting symptoms. How did the CDC give this individual a green  light to travel? The Frontier plane in question made five additional flights before it was finally taken out of service. Making matters worse, if possible, Dr. LaPook on the CBS Evening News. said,“This nurse, Nurse Vinson,  did in fact call the CDC several times before taking that flight and said she has a temperature, a fever of 99.5, and the person at the CDC looked at a chart and because her temperature wasn’t 100.4 or higher she didn’t officially fall into the category of high risk.” UNREAL!!!

How do you let anyone who had exposure to an Ebola patient with any type of fever get on a plane? These are the folks that we are entrusting protocols to? Really?

The CDC has announced that the second healthcare worker diagnosed with Ebola — now identified as Amber Joy Vinson of Dallas — traveled by air Oct. 13, with a low-grade fever, a day before she showed up at the hospital reporting symptoms.

The CDC is now reaching out to all passengers who flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth. The flight landed at 8:16 p.m. CT.

All 132 passengers on the flight are being asked to call 1 800-CDC INFO (1 800 232-4636). Public health professionals will begin interviewing passengers about the flight Wednesday afternoon.

“Although she (Vinson) did not report any symptoms and she did not meet the fever threshold of 100.4, she did report at that time she took her temperature and found it to be 99.5,” said CDC Director Tom Frieden.  Her temperature coupled with the fact that she had been exposed to the virus should have prevented her from getting on the plane, he said.  “I don’t think that changes the level of risk of people around her.  She did not vomit, she was not bleeding, so the level of risk of people around her would be extremely low.”

Just how incompetent are the folks at the CDC?

The day before she went to the hospital with Ebola symptoms, Amber Vinson was flying halfway across the country on a commercial jet with 132 other people.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Tom Frieden said she never should have stepped foot on the flight, but another federal official told CNN that no one at the agency stopped her.

Before flying from Cleveland to Dallas on Monday, Vinson called the CDC to report an elevated temperature of 99.5 Fahrenheit. She informed the agency that she was getting on a plane, the official said, and she wasn’t told not to board the aircraft.

UPDATE I: After Vinson flew from Cleveland to Dallas, the same Frontier Airlines plane made five additional trips.

  • Frontier Flight 2042 departed to Dallas on Oct. 14 at 8:11 a.m. CDT and arrived in Cleveland at 11:14 a.m. EDT
  • Frontier Flight 1104 departed Cleveland on Oct. 14 at 12:24 p.m. EDT and arrived in Fort Lauderdale at 3 p.m. EDT
  • Frontier Flight 1105 departed Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 14 at 4:02 p.m. EDT and arrived in Cleveland at 6:16 p.m. EDT
  • Frontier Flight 1101 departed Cleveland on Oct. 14 7:24 p.m. EDT and arrived in Atlanta at 9:03 p.m. EDT
  • Frontier Flight 1100 departed Atlanta on Oct. 14 at 10:12 p.m. EDT and arrived in Cleveland at 11:19 p.m. EDT
  • Frontier jet lands in Denver Wednesday afternoon and is taken to a Frontier maintenance  hanger for further decontamination cleanup procedures.

WAPO/ABC Poll: 67% of Americans Support a Travel Ban From Ebola Affected Countries of West Africa Like Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea

TWO THIRDS, 67% OF AMERICANS ARE IN FAVOR OF TRAVEL BANS FROM COUNTRIES AFFECTED BY EBOLA … BARACK OBAMA GOLFS.

According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 67% of Americans are in favor of travel bans for individuals from countries affected by Ebola, namely the West African ravaged countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. JUST 67%? Look for this number to grow considerably after a second transmitted case of Ebola has now been diagnosed in Dallas, Texas.

Ebola Travel ban

Nearly two-thirds of Americans are concerned about a widespread epidemic of the Ebola virus in the United States, and about as many in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll say the federal government is not doing enough to prevent it.

Indeed, more than four in 10 – 43 percent are worried that they or an immediate family member might catch the disease. That’s similar to the level of concern about other viral outbreaks in some previous ABC/Post polls, but more consequential, given Ebola’s high mortality rate.

From The Daily Caller points out that this is not a Republican or Democrat partisan issue … their is support on both sides to put a travel ban in place. Except from the always political, PC, community organizer, Barack Obama.

The public’s support for an Ebola travel ban is growing fast, prompting more Republican and Democratic politicians to demand a White House policy reversal.

Sixty seven percent of Americans said they would favor “restricting entry to the United States by people who’ve been in affected countries,” according to a new poll by The Washington Post and the ABC News.

Only 29 percent opposed the travel curbs on people arriving from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, where 4,000 people have already died from the lethal and invasive disease.

That attitude is spurring politicians to challenge President Barack Obama’s repeated opposition to any restrictions on the entry of apparently healthy Africans who may carry the disease.

Obama’s progressive-style opposition to the travel ban may become a problem for Democrats during the remaining three weeks of the 2014 campaign, especially if more Americans are infected with the deadly disease.

Second Health Care Worker Tests Positive for Ebola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas

A SECOND POSITIVE CASE OF EBOLA IN DALLAS, TEXAS …

A second healthcare worker has tested positive for Ebola at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, TX. This healthcare worker was among those who took care of Thomas Eric Duncan, now deceased, after he was diagnosed with Ebola. The second unnamed hospital worker is a female that lived alone with no pets. UNREAL  The first Texas Health Presbyterian nurse to become infected was Nina Pham. What is the CDC and the Obama White House waiting for … a full scale Ebola pandemic in the United States? It is obvious that this hospital cannot contain the spread of this virus, through no fault of his own. Hospitals and healthcare workers were woefully prepared for this. Get these patients who are infected with Ebola to the four hospitals in the US that specialize in infectious disease!!!

Ebola-CDC brief

A second health care worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who provided care for the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States has tested positive for the disease.

The health care worker reported a fever Tuesday and was immediately isolated at the hospital.

Health officials have interviewed the latest patient to quickly identify any contacts or potential exposures, and those people will be monitored. The type of monitoring depends on the nature of their interactions and the potential they were exposed to the virus.

The worker was among those who took care of Thomas Eric Duncan after he was diagnosed with Ebola.

The preliminary Ebola test was run late Tuesday at the state public health laboratory in Austin, and results were received at about midnight.

Confirmatory testing on a separate specimen will be conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Ebola is spread through direct contact with bodily fluids of a sick person or exposure to contaminated objects such as needles. People are not contagious before symptoms such as fever develop.

CNN:

A second health care worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who cared for Thomas Eric Duncan has tested positive for Ebola, health officials said Wednesday — casting further doubt on the hospital’s ability to handle Ebola and protect employees.

The worker reported a fever Tuesday and was immediately isolated, health department spokeswoman Carrie Williams said.

The preliminary Ebola test was done late Tuesday at the state public health laboratory in Austin, and the results came back around midnight. A second test will be conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

IT IS UNBELIEVABLE HOW INEPT THE FEDS HAVE BEEN IN DEALING WITH EBOLA. PUT A TRAVEL BAN IN PLACE NOW FOR ANYONE FROM WEST AFRICA COUNTRIES RIDDLED WITH EBOLA.

CDC Says It Is Starting to “Rethink” the Ebola Strategy

 ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

Ebola was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo and over 30 years later the CDC does not have an ironclad strategy and response to it. WHAT!!! Now after the Feds ineptitude and their spokes people looking like the keystone cops, now the CDC says they are going to start to rethink their strategy. GOD HELP US!

ebola-virus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday said it is starting to “rethink” its Ebola strategy after the first-ever US transmission of the virus put a “relatively large” number of healthcare workers at risk.

“We’re concerned, and unfortunately would not be surprised if we did see additional [Ebola] cases in healthcare workers who also provided care to the index patient,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said.

A nurse at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas was diagnosed with Ebola over the weekend, raising questions about the procedures that were followed when treating Thomas Eric Duncan.

The nurse’s infection “doesn’t change the fact that its possible to take care of Ebola safely, but it does change, substantially, how we approach it,” Frieden said.

Frieden said the government would work with state health departments, hospitals, and outside agencies to bolster outreach and training about handling the virus. That effort will “increase awareness of Ebola and increase the ability to respond rapidly,” Frieden said.

Barack Obama Plays 200th Round of Golf as the Second Ebola Case Emerges in Texas with Healthcare Worker Who Treated Thomas Eric Duncan

THIS PRESIDENT JUST DOES NOT GIVE A $HIT … 200th ROUND OF GOLF AFTER EBOLA PHOTO-OP.

As ‘We the People” of the United States of America learned that there was a second case of Ebola in Texas and the first ever transmitted case of Ebola in America, Barack Obama went golfing. Yup, after Americans learned that a female nurse who cared for and has extensive contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, the individual who traveled to Dallas, Texas from Liberia who died from Ebola, had tested positive for Ebola … The Golfer in Chief once again went golfing for his 200th round since he became president. UNREAL. Obama just doesn’t care. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN? Is he really that detached from reality that he does not comprehend that it is his role to protect America and Americans, not play golf?

Americans are wondering why flights to the US from Liberian are not being banned, nurses and healthcare workers are wondering why they are not being properly trained, I am wondering why those testing positive with Ebola are not sent to specific healthcare facilities that deal with Ebola and Obama plays golf.

After hearing the news shortly after midnight early Sunday morning that a second Ebola case had been diagnosed in a Texas Presbyterian Hospital nurse, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings stayed up through the night putting together an action plan.

In contrast, President Barack Obama’s response is being criticized as not adequately prioritizing the crisis. As Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren tweeted, Obama made a phone call to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell and then “headed out to play golf.” CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller had posted that the press corps had been escorted to vans in the presidential motorcade to go to the golf course, but then were led back to the White House for a photo opp of Obama on the phone with Burwell that “lasted only 40 seconds.” Knoller tweeted several photos of Obama wearing a casual windbreaker, sitting at his desk in the Oval Office while speaking on the phone.

Knoller also reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time that Obama has arrived at Fort Belvoir Golf Club for “his 200th round of golf as President.” The Golf Channel confirmed that this was the 200th round of golf for Obama — or, as they dubbed him, the “First Duffer” — since he became president.
