CDC Says It Is Starting to “Rethink” the Ebola Strategy

 ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

Ebola was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo and over 30 years later the CDC does not have an ironclad strategy and response to it. WHAT!!! Now after the Feds ineptitude and their spokes people looking like the keystone cops, now the CDC says they are going to start to rethink their strategy. GOD HELP US!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday said it is starting to “rethink” its Ebola strategy after the first-ever US transmission of the virus put a “relatively large” number of healthcare workers at risk.

“We’re concerned, and unfortunately would not be surprised if we did see additional [Ebola] cases in healthcare workers who also provided care to the index patient,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said.

A nurse at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas was diagnosed with Ebola over the weekend, raising questions about the procedures that were followed when treating Thomas Eric Duncan.

The nurse’s infection “doesn’t change the fact that its possible to take care of Ebola safely, but it does change, substantially, how we approach it,” Frieden said.

Frieden said the government would work with state health departments, hospitals, and outside agencies to bolster outreach and training about handling the virus. That effort will “increase awareness of Ebola and increase the ability to respond rapidly,” Frieden said.

Go look at Fieden’s educational/work background. 1- HE WAS APPOINTED AT THE NYC HD BY BLOOMBERG ( PUBLICLY DECLAIRED DEMOCRAT – i.e. PURELY POLITICAL APPOINTMENT ). 2- Attributed for implementing the Fat, Big Drink ban and Diabetes programs in NYC. What on earth does this have to do with epidemiology?? HE IS UNQUALIFIED !!!! No wonder he is saying what he does. He is over his head as per epidemiology. FIRE HIM NOW !!!! He has no business as the head of CDC!!! THIS POSITION NEEDS TO BE AN EDUCATIONALLY QUALIFIED APPOINTMENT!!! There are any number of esteemed epidemiologists in the US at the state level that could handle this far better.

Retired state employee in epidemiology department.

This is just another of the Obama Administrations lack of knowledge. A political appointment rather than searching for the best qualified person.

Ebola is not a disease that appeared yesterday. It is now almost forty years old and the CDC has not found a proper procedure or procedures to train our hospital workers. This is a major management problem.

I would be willing to bet that the CDC wastes time and money on projects that do little to prepare for problems of this type.

The CDC doctors that I spent more than an hour with in the Atlanta airport were knowledgeable people. Those two were on their way to the Far East to help with the Flu problems in China.

One of the problems we discussed during our time together was proper management of a response to an epidemic. When the top management of a company or a government department arrives there by reason of politics rather than real qualifications, this leads to little input from those who know the answers.

The CDC and the white house need new leadership. we would be better off without a president such as obama or any democrat for that matter.
