Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee switches Party Affiliation Again, This Time from Independent to Democrat

Changing party affiliation like one changes their underwear … Chafee is a Republican, no Independent, no Democrat … no just a desperate politician.

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee is changing party affiliation once again and switching from an independent to the Democrat Party. So Chafee has gone from a Republican to Independent to Democrat. He was never a Republican, Chafee like so many individuals in politics are nothing more than political opportunists who would do, say and change parties to maintain power. But from the Rhode Island Governor who has a job approval rating in the 20′s and who ended Christmas trees, this man will do anything to cling on to power. It’s one thing to change, if your party left you, or one has a true change of political philosophy, it’s quite another to do it for political expedience. This is exactly what is wrong with politics today. There are no statesman, just hangers on who think its their right to hold office. Hopefully, the good people of Rhode Island will toss this disaster out on his can.

Independent

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee will formally switch his party registration Thursday, abandoning his status as an independent and joining the Democratic Party, the governor’s office told POLITICO.

Chafee quietly informed President Barack Obama of his intention to affiliate as a Democrat after reaching that decision in private, Chafee spokeswoman Christine Hunsinger said. The governor’s office confirmed Chafee’s plans after POLITICO reported that the governor had notified national Democrats that he’d be joining the party.

A former Republican who served with Obama in the Senate, Chafee has struggled with perilously low job approval ratings and faces a difficult reelection fight in 2014

Gallup: Federal Government Has Too Much Power … 54% – 36%

According to a recent Gallup poll, 54% say that the federal government has too much power,  while 36% say the correct amount of power and 8% of Americans are socialist who think the federal government has “too little” power. Sadly, too many Democrats do not think that the government has too much power because they were not the ones targeted by the Obama administration and the IRS. Gallup comment that there is little change. Little change?

Check out the difference of what Americans thought about the federal power when George W. Bush was president as compared to Barack Obama. The numbers are almost reversed. Also, although more than twice as many Republicans (76%) as Democrats (32%) think that the feds have too much power, more importantly, 58% of Independents side with the GOP. This rise can hardly be looked upon as a good trend by Obama and Democrats who believe in “Big” government. The pendulum may just be shifting back the other direction away from big government as Americans are growing weary of scandals and an entity like the IRS who is all-powerful with no restraint. This can hardly be welcome news for Democrats in 2014 or Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Americans’ views of federal power have become a renewed focal point in recent weeks with allegations that the IRS used its power to selectively audit certain types of organizations, and news reports of Justice Department investigations into Associated Press and Fox News records and emails. It does not appear, however, that these news stories have dramatically altered Americans’ views of the federal government’s power. The 54% who now say the federal government has “too much power” is in the same general range as it has been since 2005.

As would be expected, there is a major gulf between Republicans’ and Democrats’ views on this issue. More than twice as many Republicans (76%) as Democrats (32%) say the government has too much power, with a majority of independents coming down on the same side as Republicans.

Rep Mike Kelly Gets Standing Ovation After Historic Rant Ripping the #IRS for the Vindictive Bullies That they Are … “This confirms that the IRS can do anything they want, anytime they want, to anyone they want.”

FINALLY A STATEMAN STANDS UP FOR ”WE THE PEOPLE” …  Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) is my new hero and should be a hero to all Americans!!!

US Representative Mike Kelly was given a standing ovation Friday at the House Committee on the IRS scandal after he ripped into IRS Commissioner Steven Miller. Every American, no matter what your political belief, should watch the below video and stand up and cheer for what Kelly did. He stood up for all Americans, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, etc, as blasted the IRS commissioner and the over-reaching abuses of the IRS. It is about time some one stood up to this “Gestapo” like government organization and called them out for what they true are … government bullies who have the ability to destroy people lives. There is no greater abuse of power than what the IRS is allowed to do to “We the People” as a matter of their standard SOP.

Representative Kelly shredded the IRS for their scandalous actions of targeting Conservative groups and their over-reaching, bullying tactics. As Kelly stated, “This confirms that the IRS can do anything they want, anytime they want, to anyone they want.” Kelly basically said what every American has thought or wanted to say for years, but were too afraid of retaliation from this all-too powerful government organization. The standing ovation at the end of Kelly’s rant just shows the outrage of the American people. This is what tyranny looks like, and its hardly soft tyranny. Kelly would also say, “And I don’t believe the White House just found out about this in a news report. Where you’re sitting you should be outraged but you’re not.” I think it is rather unbelievable that President Barack Obama also did not learn of this when the American people did. Obama dodged the question when asked. That is either a lie or this president is not most clueless, unengaged president ever.

Our Founding Fathers never envisioned such and entity would ever be given so much power which shredded the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. This is what America fought to get away from. How in the hell  has it come to this? Government has gotten far too big, out of control and without fear of “We the People”. What happened to a government of, by and for the People?

From Real Clear Politics:

REP. MIKE KELLY (R-PA): This has nothing to do with political parties. This has to do with highly targeted groups. This reconfirms everything the American public believes. This is a huge blow to the faith and trust that the American people have in their government. Is there any limit to the scope where you folks can go? Is there anything at all? Is there any way that we could ask you is there any question that you should have asked?

My goodness. How much money do you have in your wallet? Who do you get emails from? Whose sign do you put up in your front yard? This is a tax question? And you don’t think that’s intimidating? It’s sure as hell intimidating. And I don’t know that I got any answers from you today. And I don’t know that — what Mr. George said is great work — but you know what? There’s a heck of a lot more that has to come out in this. Any anybody that sat here today and listened to what you had to say, I am more concerned today than I was before, and the fact that you all can do just about anything you want to anybody?

You know, you can put anybody out of business that you want. Any time you want. I gotta tell you. You could talk about how you’re a horribly run organization, if you’re on the other side of the fence, you’re not giving that excuse. And the IRS comes in, you’re not allowed to be shoddy, you’re not allowed to be run horribly, you’re not allowed to make mistakes, you’re not allowed to do one damn thing that doesn’t come in compliance, and if you do, you’re held responsible right then. I just think the American people have seen what’s going on right now in their government. This is absolutely an overreach and this is an outrage for all Americans.

More at Twitchy Best rant ever!!!

  • Rep Kelly to Miller: You think this is uncomfortable? Try being a citizen being targeted by the IRS.
  • Rep. Kelly just now ‘This is a Pandora’s Box.’ That sounds right.
  • Rep Kelly: My grandson freaks out bc something might come out from under the bed at night and grab him. That’s how Americans feel about IRS.

US Rep Kevin Brady ( TX-R) asks, “Is this still America”?… IRS Official Steven Miller: “I Don’t Think Targeting Is Wrong”

FALL LIKE AN EAGLE:  IRS Steve Miller thinks its perfectly ok to target Americans …

During todays  House Ways and Means Committee on the IRS scandals, Texas Republican congressman Kevin Brady asked out-going IRS commissioner, ” Is this still America”?  He then went on to ask, “Is this government so drunk on power that it would turn its full force, its full might to harass, intimidate, and threaten an average American  who only wants her voice and their voices heard”?

What is most amazing is that Commissioner Miller of the IRS actually said, “I do not believe targeting again is wrong”. WOW, simply wow. This is the same organization that is to police Obamacare and they think  its ok to target Americans. The Obama administrator does not believe in targeting Muslims for terrorism, but his IRS official believes it is perfectly OK to target Conservatives. UNREAL. This comment alone makes me believe 100% that the IRS need to be completely defunded and abolished. This vindictive organization that operates above the law needs to be ended once and for all. It’s time to implement a flat tax and do away with the IRS so these type of Unconstitutional acts never, ever happen again to anyone, no matter what their party affiliation or political opinions are.

The Daily Mail:

The IRS under the Obama administration painted targets on the backs of conservatives beginning in 2010, and ousted acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller apologized to the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday. But members on both sides of the aisle were furious, and castigated him for the mismanagement and political gamesmanship the IRS engaged in on his watch.

Texas Republican congressman Kevin Brady had the harshest criticism for Miller.

‘Is this still America?’ he asked him.

‘Is this government so drunk on power that it would turn its full force, its full might, to harass, and intimidate, and threaten an average American who only wants her voice, their voices heard?’

‘The American public deserves better,’ Miller agreed. But both he and J. Russell George, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration, insisted that no IRS employees engaged in political witch-hunting.
