What a Message from Portland, Oregan … City Shuts Down 11 Year Old Madison Root Selling Mistletoe to Fund Braces, But OK to Beg for Money

WELCOME TO A LACK OF COMMON SENSE FROM PORTLAND, OR …

All 11 yer old Madison Root wanted to do was help her dad pay for her braces that were going to cost $4800 by selling  mistletoe. It’s Christmas time, what better gift to sell than freshly picked mistletoe in a cute package with a red bow? Well, one would think. That was until she decided to see her mistletoe next to the Skidmore Fountain in Downtown Portland, Oregon and a private security guard asked Madison to stop selling because city ordinance bans commerce like that without proper approval. UNREALpapers, where are your papers!!!

I am sure this was the intent of the ordinance and it was meant for 11 year old’s. More so, I am sure this is what Our Founding Fathers had intended when forming this great nation. But in this day and age government interference and regulation have increased so much that they would squash a little girl’s efforts and entrepreneurial spirit to help her dad pay for her braces. Especially, in this day and age when we hear stories of so many young kids that just expect things, Madison wanted to help. Oh yea, did we tell you that Madison Root was not allowed to sell her mistletoe without approval, but it would have been OK for her to beg. There is a message to teach the young.

From KATU:

She’s hoping to raise money to chip in for her braces. The dentist says they’ll cost $4,800.

“I felt like I could help my dad with the money,” she said.

Madison and her dad bagged up the mistletoe and started selling them next to the Skidmore Fountain in Downtown Portland on Saturday morning.

That’s also where the Portland Saturday Market holds its weekly venue.

A private security guard asked Madison to stop selling because city ordinance bans commerce like that without proper approval.

“I wouldn’t think I’d have any problems because people are asking for money, people are selling stuff, this is a public place,” said Madison.

And she’s right — to a point.

In fact, we saw people protesting, hold signs, playing music, and begging all over the area on Sunday morning as well.

The Saturday Market is incredibly diverse.

You can buy whistles, order crepes and sign a marijuana petition all without walking more than ten steps.

But you can’t open a business without going through the market’s formal application process. The market sets rules for vendors which Madison agrees make sense.

Begging is different.

UNSPEAKABLE ACTS TO SAY THE LEAST …

A Massachusetts grand jury has indicted 14 year old Philip Chism on charges of murder, aggravated rape and armed robbery in the heinous and horrific death of his algebra teacher, Colleen Ritzer. According to prosecutors, under the aggravated rape and armed robbery indictments, Chism was charged as a youthful offender, but they will move to join those charges with the murder case in Superior Court. On October 22, 2013, Phillip Chism followed Ritzer in to the the girl’s bathroom of the high school with a box cutter he brought to school and killed her. Chism punched and raped Ritzer before ultimately killing her, then robbed her of her credit cared and iPhone, then discareded her body outside the school. Sick, just sick!

CNN:

Citing Massachusetts law, prosecutors said they would ask that Chism be tried in an adult court.

“The indictments … detail horrific and unspeakable acts,” said District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

The armed robbery indictment alleges that Chism, armed with a box cutter, robbed Ritzer of credit cards, an iPhone and her underwear. The aggravated rape indictment alleges that he sexually assaulted her with an object.

Under the aggravated rape and armed robbery indictments, Chism was charged as a youthful offender, but prosecutors said they will move to join those charges with the murder case in Superior Court.

Fire up “sparky” for this one, any one capable of this should not be allowed to walk among us, or anyone.

University of Colorado Boulder Political Correctness … Tells Students Not to Wear Offensive Costumes including Cowboys, Indians or White Trash for Halloween

Good grief, are you kidding me … exactly how is it offensive to dress up like a cowboy or Indian?

The University of Colorado at Boulder is warning students not to dress up in Halloween costumes that are “offensive” and might make some people feel uncomfortable. UNREAL. The PC nonsense has now provided a war on Halloween. Offensive? What is offensive is the narrow-mindedness of the liberal hierarchy at CU and the lack of any sense of humor. You can’t have party themes or dress up like cowboys, Indians, white trash, ghetto or hillbillies. Nor themes of crime or sex work. Good grief!  What ever happened to people just having fun and be able to laugh? Let’s face it, there is always some one that will be offended by something. Especially in this day and age of “weeniness.” Just curious, how do you know you are not offending witches, goblins, ghosts, vampires and other ghouls by the costumes you wear, HMM?

I am guessing if they dress up like Barack Obama in an unflattering way that it will be grounds for dismissal.

Costumes you will not see at CU this Halloween for a multitude of reasons …

Cowgirl

Nor This …

Indian costume

University students in America have been told not to wear “offensive” halloween costumes including cowboys, indians and anything involving a sombrero.

Students at the University of Colorado Boulder have also been told to avoid “white trash” costumes and anything that portrays a particular culture as “over-sexualised”- which the university says includes dressing up as a geisha or a “squaw” (indigenous woman).

They are also asked not to host parties with offensive themes including those with “ghetto” or “hillbilly” themes or those associated with “crime or sex work.”

In the letter sent by a university official students are asked to consider the impact that their costumes could have.

Christina Gonzales, the dean of students, wrote: “Making the choice to dress up as someone from another culture, either with the intention of being humorous or without the intention of being disrespectful, can lead to inaccurate and hurtful portrayals of other people’s cultures.

I wonder if the University of Colorado officials think its ok for students to dress up like Conservatives and have anti-Tea Party themes?

BTW, get a life and a sense of humor.
