According to accounts, state retail sales of recreational, legal pot were over $5 million in the first week. Of course some of these sales represents a first time roll-out buying of pot and one would think, or at least hope this is not a consistent amount of sales.  Colorado, the first state to allow retail recreational marijuana sales to adults age 21 and older. Colorado is projecting about $600 million in combined wholesale and retail marijuana sales annually and here lies the rub, they expect to collect nearly $70 million in tax revenue.

But what is the real cost here? Are states willing to look the other way with any moral or social issues in order to bring in tax revenue? The American people are presented with so many rules and regulations as to what they can and cannot buy. Some how we are no longer allowed to buy an incandescent light bulb and we are made to feel like lepers for buying large sodas … but pot is legal.

Colorado, the first state to allow retail recreational marijuana sales to adults age 21 and older, has projected nearly $600 million in combined wholesale and retail marijuana sales annually. The state, which expects to collect nearly $70 million in tax revenue from pot sales this year, won’t have its first official glimpse at sales figures until Feb. 20, when businesses are required to file January tax reports, according to Julie Postlethwait of the state Marijuana Enforcement Division.

Denver’s 9News was first to report statewide retail sales on New Year’s Day, the first day legal pot shops were allowed to operate, exceeded $1 million. Interest dropped in the days that followed, according to shop owners, but many reported customers still waiting in lines out the door.

Hmm, one would think that this story may want people to rethink amnesty. The US Border Patrol arrested six Mexicans, two adults, two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old and the 12-year-old … all illegal immigrants attempting to smuggle marijuana into the United States. In all, they had 300 pounds of pot as the 12 year old mule boy was carrying the heaviest load at 80 pounds. All were returned to Mexico. It would appear that this would add credence to US Rep; Steve King’s assertion that more illegals are drug smugglers than valedictorians.

The U.S. Border Patrol earlier this month arrested a 12-year-old illegal immigrant smuggling 80 pounds of marijuana from Mexico into Texas, reigniting a debate over controversial comments made by a Republican congressman earlier this year about children’s involvement in the cross-border drug trade.

Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican who has called for a crackdown on illegal immigration, had said there were more young illegal immigrants smuggling drugs than there were ones who were valedictorians of their classes in U.S. high schools.

In the Texas incident earlier this month, Border Patrol agents arrested six Mexicans — two adults, two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old and the 12-year-old — smuggling more than 300 pounds of marijuana.

“They were carrying the marijuana on their backs and when arrested it was discovered that the 12-year-old boy had the heaviest load at 80 pounds,” the Border Patrol said in a statement describing the arrest.

The adults and one of the 17-year-old children were held after the early December incident, but the others — including the 12-year-old — were returned to Mexico, the Border Patrol said.

All returned to Mexico, why didn’t Obama and the Democrats provide them amnesty? There was no mention if any of the illegals caught and arrested were “white” Hispanics.

Four men, Ryan Anthony Kevorkian, 34, Naomi Josette Kevorkian, 33, Hossein Nayeri, 34, and Kyle Shirakawa Handley, 34, have been charged with kidnapping, robbery and torture as they cut off a California marijuana dispensary owner’s penis. Who does this, unless your name is Lorena Bobbit? However, unlike John Bobbit who had his reaatched,  in a final act of depravity, police said Handley, Nayeri, and Ryan Kevorkian took the victim’s penis with them as they fled so that it could never be reattached.

Four people were charged with kidnapping a California marijuana dispensary owner, torturing him with a blowtorch and cutting off his penis during a robbery because they thought he was burying piles of cash in the desert, authorities said Friday.

Ryan Anthony Kevorkian, 34, and Naomi Josette Kevorkian, 33, were arrested Friday in Fresno, a day after the FBI arrested 34-year-old Hossein Nayeri in Prague in the Czech Republic, Orange County authorities said in a statement.

The four have been charged with kidnapping for ransom, aggravated mayhem, torture, burglary and a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury.
