Sicko, Michael Moore, Faces US Treasury Probe for Travels to Cuba

Michael Moore’s latest “Sicko” stunt to Cuba has seemed to land the controversial MM losermovie director in some hot water with the US Treasury Department. It appears that Michael Moore did not get permission to go to Cuba and may have violated the US trade embargo restricting travel to Cuba. Oops. But of course its a Right Wing conspiracy against Moore. Laws be damed.

The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control notified Moore in a letter dated May 2 that it was conducting a civil investigation for possible violations of the U.S. trade embargo restricting travel to Cuba. A copy of the letter was obtained Tuesday by the AP.

“This office has no record that a specific license was issued authorizing you to engage in travel-related transactions involving Cuba,” Dale Thompson, OFAC chief of general investigations and field operations, wrote in the letter to Moore.

The letter noted that Moore applied Oct. 12, 2006, for permission to go to Cuba “but no determination had been made by OFAC.” Moore sought permission to travel there under a provision for full-time journalists, the letter said.

According to the letter, Moore was given 20 business days to provide OFAC with such information as the date of travel and point of departure; the reason for the Cuba trip and his itinerary there; and the names and addresses of those who accompanied him, along with their reasons for going. Read the letter to Michael Moore from the Department of Treasury at The Smoking Gun.

Of course Michael Moore is quick to have a response to his persecution by the Bush Administration. Funny thing that he could find no persecution of the Cuban people by Fidel Castro when he was in Cuba. Michael Moore’s selective persecution, who’s the SICKO?

Joran Van der Sloot’s Book … “The Case of Natalee Holloway” … Keep Talking . SICK, SICK, SICK.

Joran Van der Sloot … Keep Talking, it will be your undoing.

“Lying makes it easier for me”. (Joran Van der Sloot)

No truer words have ever been spoken.

This is just another example of what’s good for Joran Van der Sloot is terrible for Aruba. Maybe one day the people of Aruba will wake up and smell the coffee. Also maybe more American tourists will come to realize what really took place.

Comments from American tourists in Aruba regarding the Joran Van der Sloot book.

“I think that’s sick, I really do. To be able to profit off of something like this is horrible. Whether he did it or didn’t do it doesn’t matter, just sick”  (Will Formato)

“I am disappointed kinda that he would capitalize on something bad that happened like that and feel like he could make money on other people’s unhappiness.” (Janet Beatty)

Reviews state that the book takes swipes at Natalee’s family and the American people.

“I don’t like the idea that somebody that was so closely involved to the situation would then write a book to profit from it.” (Fox)

I would ask the people who commented on Joran Van der Sloot’s book below the following question: If it is so sick as to what Joran Van der Sloot is doing in profiting from a book of a terrible ordeal like the disappearance of an American teenage girl, then why are you vacationing on an island that knowingly tried to cover up and did little to really and properly investigate Natalee Holloway’s disappearance? A place where the chief investigator told Dave Holloway to go to Carlos N’ Charlies and “have a beer, she’ll show up”.

Dan Abrams: The letter goes on to say that when Dave Holloway asked the policeDave holloway sign to begin a search for Natalee two days after she went missing, the detective in charge of the investigation answered, this happens all the time. Just go on down to Carlos N’ Charlie’s and have a beer. She’ll show up sometime. She probably got drunk or fell in love and ran off with someone for a few days.

When you went to the police department to report Natalee missing, Dennis Jacobs responded with the following inappropriate question. How much money do you have?

Dave Holloway: That’s correct and there were two witnesses there that can confirm that.

WOULD NOT THAT BE CONSIDERED SICK AS WELL!!!

Aruba facade

(Hat Tip Vanderbilt – 06, What happens in Aruba, Stays covered up in Aruba)

Its not just Joran Van der Sloot who lied and tried a cover up to save the tourism of Aruba. That would have been a decision by Aruban officials. So the question is why are you vacationing in an island where if something happened to you, the same treatment would be afforded to you and your loved one’s. Would not that be sick as well?

American tourists in Aruba, you are staying in a place that disregards American’s life for the benefit that no harm would come to their tourism. They thought this would all blow over in 4 days. You people are in Aruba making negative comments about Joran Van der Sloot and his profits? What do you think Aruba is doing by you being there while they always wished to look the other way? WAKE UP!!!

Is this where you want to be searching for your missing loved one?

Earth to American tourists … Joran Van der Sloot took swipes at you too.

Who do these tourists really think tried to profit off the cover up of this crime? Who do you think pulled strings and allowed this crime not to be investigated until nearly two year later when Dutch investigators searched the Van der Sloot property?

Dave Holloway, “Corruption in Paradise”.

Corruption, yes. There’s a lot of things that occurred on the island before Natalee got there and we addressed some of those issues. But, you know, you have a 17-year-old kid that basically runs the island. He’s 17 years old. The legal age of gambling is 18. The legal age of drinking is 18. The legal age of driving is 18. And here he does all three.

You know and then this happens with Natalee and then you get a low level police officer trying to make a decision, “Do I arrest these boys or do I turn my head and look the other way?” And we think that they’ve turned their head and looked the other way.

To American tourist that think its OK to selfishly look the other way when grief, pain and despair are brought upon others … You to could have been in the same shoes as Beth Twitty. Will you only care when it directly affects you? What a commentary that says about people and their selfish, self-centered actions.

“If the investigation had been handled properly during the first 10 days, the world would not have witnessed and experienced the pain and suffering my family and I have endured,” Holloway Twitty said, choking back tears as she read from a written statement. “For the rest of my life, I will continue to be the voice for my daughter, seeking justice in Aruba. Every parent would want the same justice for their child.”

Amigoe, Aruba: “Growing poverty in our society” … Post Natalee Holloway Aruban Economy

So do those that thought the “individual” boycott of Aruba by those following the Aruba_boycottdisappearance and handling of  Natalee Holloway will have no effect? Of course it is not the only reason why Aruba finds itself in the predicament they are; however, it has a great deal. Does it really come as an surprise to anyone what the outcome is when cost of living increases, revenue decreases and government spending remains the same. What is the answer? Tax the little guy.

Governments raise taxes on its citizens in a desperate effort to generate revenues from losses in other areas. In Aruba’s case it was the loss of tax revenue generated from tourism. When the cost of living naturally goes up, Aruban’s were done no favors by their government officials  when they had to endure higher taxes, higher oil prices and a declining pay check. The fact of the matter is that Aruba’s economy saw a decline following how the Natalee Holloway investigation was handled. As the rest of the Caribbean saw increases, Aruba’s economy saw a decline.

Aruba 3 suspects

(The face of Aruban Tourism)

Did Arubans really not think that this was going to affect them in their pockets?

Nearly two years later as  Aruban tourism tries desperately to sway tourists to coming to Aruba they are met with protests like at the Tourism trade shows in Boston and Miami. One only needs to take a look HERE to see how ineptly the Aruban government has handled what has turned into a PR nightmare and economic disaster known as Post Natalee Holloway cover up.

It is no coincidence that all of this began in full swing following the disappearance of Natalee Holloway and many tourists refusal to travel to an island that would handle a missing persons case as they did. The effects are still being felt today. An economic ship takes a long time to turn.

Amigoe: May 3, 2007, Cabinet Oduber causes poverty

Mike Eman ( AVP ) listens.

ORANJESTAD – The cost of living has increased in such way that people on a minimum wage have massively run into problems.   But not only the people with a low income, also the ones with a medium income are about to run into problems.   Mike Eman of AVP says that it is so sad that the Oduber-government refuses to consider the problems of the Aruban citizens.

Aruba’s Continued Nightmare Courtesy of Joran Van der Sloot … Joran Prospers with Book While Arubans Struggles

You  will be able to find Joran Van der Sloot’s book, ‘The Case of Natalee JVDS_BookHolloway,’  in the fiction section of your local book store. Nearly two years later and the lies still come.  While Arubans and the Aruban economy has struggled and declined since Natalee’s disappearance, Joran Van der Sloot looks to make money at the expense of a missing and presumed dead American, Alabama teen. With the two year anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance coming up, Joran Van der Sloot looks to once again make this story front page material for media consumption. Who benefits Aruba and who sufferers?

Joran Van der Sloot continues to spread his less than credible version of events and even shows his sick, disturbed and hate for an individual that he is accused of being responsible for her disappearance. This is the mark of a socio-path, always having to spew hatred toward another.

He admits that he didn’t even know her name and had preferred making love to her friend Ruth, who was much prettier.

Natalee Holloway disappears, Joran Van der Sloot was the last known person with her, he lied through his teeth during interrogations and now almost two years later he makes a swipe  like this at Natalee and her family. What a disturbed individual. Aruba, you had and have a choice. Joran Van der Sloot is the face of Aruba. No amount of marketing is going to change this, only Justice for Natalee will.

Aruba, this is what you chose to support. You protest “chollers” but not the people who are most responsible for giving Aruba a black eye. When will you make a stand and say enough is enough?

Amigoe, The answer on what had happened must be somewhere

ORANJESTAD/AMSTERDAM – In the book ‘The Case of Natalee Holloway’ that was published today in the Netherlands , Joran van der Sloot admits that he has probably committed the biggest mistake of his life by leaving the American girl on the beach by herself.

He has also lied about that night on the beach to the police and realizes that due to his falsehood, he has lost his credibility.   He knows that he is still the main suspect in the case and understood that the OM in Aruba will soon, maybe next month already decide whether they will proceed to prosecution.   Neither the Dutch- and Aruban police, nor the FBI has found a clue on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.   There is still an active team of Dutch police on the island.     The book has 351 pages and is written by and for journalist Zvezdana Vukojevic, who works for Nieuwe Revu.   She has spent some time in Aruba with Joran van der Sloot to visit all the locations that are of importance.   Joran van der Sloot told her about his life before he met Natalee, his time in prison and the police interrogations.
