Ted Cruz Wins GOP Maine Caucus
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is projected to be the winner of the Maine Republican caucus, with Donald Trump in second.
Maine saw record turnout on Saturday. There had not been much polling done of the state, but Cruz’s victory in a state with a very small population of Evangelical Christians (who h
Maine’s Gov. Paul LePage endorsed Donald Trump at the end of last month. Clearly, his endorsement didn’t have much of an effect.

Ben Carson Announces His Presidential Campaign Is Over
Ben Carson, the most honorable man in the GOP race is officially calling it quits …
Ben Carson is suspending his bid for the presidency, the retired neurosurgeon announced Friday, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
“Even though I might be leaving the campaign trail, you know there’s a lot of people who love me, they just won’t vote for me. But I will still continue to be heavily involved in trying to save our nation,” he said.
Later in the speech, Carson appealed to the audience to get active and informed.
“We cannot continue to allow ourselves to be influenced and molded by the political class and by the media. That is going to destroy us,” he said, remarking that it’s “kind of sad” that the press is the only business protected by the Constitution “because they were supposed to be the allies of the people.”
Carson signaled his exit from the race on Wednesday following a string of dismal performances in primaries and caucuses, writing in a statement that he saw no path to claim the Republican nomination.
Donald Trump Fires Back to Romney’s “Fraud” & “Phony” Comments … Trump Says Romney a Failed Candidate and in 2012, “I Could’ve said, ‘Mitt Drop to Your Knees’ and He Would’ve Dropped to his Knees.”
WOW, JUST HOW LOW AND VULGAR HAS THE GOP NOMINATION PROCESS BECOME?
In response to failed 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s comments that were none too flattering to Donald Trump, the current 2016 Republican presidential front-runner fired back like only the Donald could and would. Earlier in the day Romney . Trump responded by saying that Mittens was a failed, irrelevant candidate from days gone by and that in 2012, Romney would have dropped to his knees, if Trump had asked him. WHAT!!! Just how low has presidential politics sunk with Donald Trump in the race? I mean really, Howard Stern might have run a less vulgar campaign. Trump is correct in that Mittens is a failed candidate who lost the the unlosable presidential race against a disastrous and failed Barack Obama in 2012. Romney was gutless and failed to bring the fight to Obama. Why, because Romney is a part of the GOP mushy middle and represents what is wrong with the Republican party and the elitist, entitled, establishment wing. But some how Romney, who was incapable of taking the mittens off and attack Obama, does so in going after Trump. Hmm, why do I smell a rat? That being said, Donald, did you really have to go there? REALLY?
Did we really need that imagery?
UPDATE: 3:20 p.m. Donald Trump responded Thursday to former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney ripping his campaign in a news conference by saying that Romney had been “begging” for his endorsement in the 2012 election.
Earlier in the day, Romney spoke in Utah of how disastrous Trump would be as commander-in-chief and criticized his approach to foreign policy. Trump responded to Romney at a campaign rally in Portland, Maine, calling the speech “irrelevant” and referencing his endorsement of the former Massachusetts governor in the last election.
“I could’ve said, ‘Mitt drop to your knees’ and he would’ve dropped to his knees,” Trump said. “He was begging. He was begging me.”
Trump added that Romney “did a big choke” in the election against President Barack Obama.
“Mitt is a failed candidate. He failed horribly. He failed badly,” Trump said. “That was a race that should have been won and I don’t know what happened to him. He disappeared.”
Trump continued talking about how he supported Romney in that election, telling the crowd that he raised money for Romney against the advice of others who feared he wouldn’t be able to win the election. Trump said there were so many people at the fundraiser that the carpet was “ruined.”

Failed 2012 Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney Attacks Trump … “Donald Trump is a Phony, a Fraud. His Promises are as Worthless as a Degree from Trump University. He’s Playing the American Public for Suckers”
SORRY, BUT I HARDLY THINK MITTENS ROMNEY HAS THE QUALIFICATIONS TO DECLARE WHO SHOULD AND SHOULD NOT BE PRESIDENT …
Let me first preface this by saying I am far from a Donald Trump supporter and no, I did not vote for him. That being said, who the hell is Mitt Romney to attack Donald Trump and interject himself into the 2016 GOP primaries? Romney represents what is wrong with the Republican party. Romney is a failed GOP presidential candidate who lost the 2012 presidential race and gave us 4 more years of Barack Obama. Sorry Mittens, your attack on Trump is as pathetic as your failed presidential run. In fact, by going after Trump you played right into his hands. As the WAPO reports, Mitt Romney did Donald Trump a BIG favor by attacking him. Yes he did. But this is yet just another perfect example of how the GOP establishment just doesn’t get it or how pissed off the American people are.
In his ripping of Trump, Romney said that if Trump’s economic plans “were ever implemented, the country would sink into prolonged recession.” Hmm really, he had nothing but praise for Trump here in 2012. What I also found rather smarmy and self-serving is that Mittens said he was not going to endorse any of the candidates and during his speech referenced voting for multiple candidates that would ultimately have the GOP primary end with no candidate having enough delegates and thus the nomination being brought to a brokered convention. So is this Romney and the GOP establishment’s end game?
In what may be an unprecedented speech by a major American political figure, former presidential nominee Mitt Romney implored his fellow Republicans on Thursday not to nominate the frontrunner Donald Trump for president.
“If we Republicans choose Donald Trump as our nominee, the prospects for a safe and prosperous future are greatly diminished,” Romney said in a nationally televised speech at the University of Utah.
Romney’s speech comes as the Republican Party grapples with the distinct possibility that Trump will become the party’s nominee. While some Republicans have come around to Trump’s candidacy, a forceful Republican effort to take down Trump has failed to materialize.
Romney last-ditch bid to save his party from Trump started with tweets knocking Trump’s comments on the Ku Klux Klan and calling on him to release his tax returns.
His slashing speech Thursday was remarkable not simply for the unparalled specter of the party’s last nominee savaging its frontrunner but for the dire picture Romney painted of a Trump presidency and what it would do to the country.
