Biden Choice as VP … CNN Poll Says Dead Heat … No Biden BOUNCE
The Non-Biden Bounce …
Was Joe Biden the right choice for Obama’s running mate for VP? The polls tend to say no. A CNN poll that was conducted after Biden was announced to the Democratic ticket shows a dead heat and Obama has lost a 7 point lead since July 2008.

Why Biden’s plagiarism shouldn’t be forgotten
But Biden’s exit from the 1988 race is worth recalling in detail, because his transgressions far exceeded Obama’s own relatively innocent lifting of rhetorical set pieces from his friend Deval Patrick, which occasioned a brief flap last February. Biden’s misdeeds encompassed numerous self-aggrandizing thefts, misstatements, and exaggerations that seemed to point to a serious character defect.
It’s a dead heat in the race for the White House. The first national poll conducted entirely after Barack Obama publicly named Joe Biden as his running mate suggests that battle for the presidency between the Illinois senator and Republican rival John McCain is all tied up.
In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Sunday night, 47 percent of those questioned are backing Obama with an equal amount supporting the Arizona senator.
“This looks like a step backward for Obama, who had a 51 to 44 percent advantage last month,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.
So what happened to the VP BOUNCE? One would have thought that there might have been a slight up tick; however, that was not the case. Today’s Gallup tracking poll shows McCain and Obama tied at 45%. There is a three-fold problem with the Biden choice and one that will haunt Obama.
One, Biden is not Hillary Clinton. There was so much fan fare built up to Obama’s pick of a VP that any choice other than Hillary Clinton would fall flat. It did in a resounding way. As the Looney Tunes martian used to say … where’s the KABOOM … where’s the earth shattering KABOOM. In Obama’s handling of the VP choice … it was a THUD.
Two, the Biden choice of a 35 year Washington, DC Insider was such a sell out to the very core of what Obama has been stating to the American people that it left many scratching their heads. The choice hardly represents change, it represented the same old status quo and a self-admission of Obama’s lack of experience.
Three, a Presidential candidates choice of VP marks to the American people that candidates first real political decision. The questions that come to mind is how was that decision made and how will it reflect future decisions? In that respect, Obama gets a D-. Obama and his campaign handled the Hillary Clinton as VP question terribly to the point where there is obviously a feud brewing behind the scenes. Obama has alienated the Hillary Clinton supporters and even angered them to the point where they may not vote for Obama this Fall. Barack Obama handled the Hillary VP situation as bad as it could be … what does this tell us of his future decision making prospects?

It is pretty hard to heal a rift when you are the one that is actively ripping the scab off the wound continuously.

CNN….Senator Edw Kennedy is going to speak at the convention against the advice of his associates because of his health…the man is extremely ill…I think this is really selfish on Obama’s part…If Edward wanted to speak couldn’t you have arranged cameras in his home and projected on your wide screen in Denver…NO Obama wanted the drama effect…I’ll use anybody, anytime, anywhere…
I think he should of been way more compassionate for Ted and express his concern for his health….and not agreed to a personal appearance..
Obama talks about McCain’s homes which were all purchased from Cindy’s father hard earned money left in the estate…So let’s ask Obama where did your millions of dollars come from…..
And let’s ask Michelle, how did you get into Princeton, your father couldn’t afford that…even though he worked hard….
Where has all of this money come from, Obama and Michelle….?????
And let’s ask Obama where all his money came from…he lives in a 2 1/2 million dollar house and is worth 7 million dollars….a man in his 40′s…earned this as a community organizer, I don’t think so….he didn’t even start earning any money until he was in his 30′s ….so Republicans do your homework and find out where all of this money has come from…..!!!!
Is the stupidity written in post #1 indicative of most republicans or is it unique to this one racist poster?
I’m pretty sure most realize it’s the DNC’s convention, not Obama’s. I’m pretty sure most know what a Student Loan is. And I’m pretty sure most would not use the arguement “John’s 10 house’s came from his father-in-law’s hard earned money” to disparage the other candidate.
But I could be wrong…
#3 – I assume you call poster #1 racist because Obama is a black dude.
Typical leftist labeling horseshit. When you can’t discuss or debate with reason, you resort to name calling as a means of silencing any kind of opposition. The only stupidity I read was yours, for using the old and tired tactic of the cowardly and mundane.
#2 – Really?
So Republican’s haven’t seen those tax returns made public by the Obama’s from 2000-2006? Really.
A couple in their 40′s cannot possibly be worth 7mill and must be investigated?
Really.
What a bright intellegent mouthpiece you republican’s have in poster # 2.
Don’t care about income/inheritances/money for who I am going to elect for President. Don’t care about how many houses they own. Don’t care what their religion or age is.
I want: Experience, Leadership abilities, character, someone who is proud to be an American, someone tough not wishy-washy, someone who I feel can be Commander-in-Chief in times like these who is not going to waffle, crumble or be an EMPTY SUIT. Someone who isn’t afraid to define himself, what he stands for and doesn’t take any crap.
Now, for some odd reason- I don’t think too many of the things I am looking for above apply to Mr. Obama….so I am stuck with the other choice….just keeping it simple.
And this DNC doesn’t mean diddly-squat, either. I can’t stomach to listen to Ted Kennedy…one of the WORST and dangerous politicians of all times and murderer of Mary Jo Kopecekne. Spare me that snooze-fest right there.
EXPERIENCE !!!!!!
CHARACTER !!!!!!!
FOR BUSINESS, NOT MORE GOVERNMENT!!
GOT IT?
#4 – oh yeah?
You tell me if YOU believe #1 is a racist:

Care to comment #4? After reading #1′s comments, do you think I’m off base when I label #1 a racist? L
Let me guess…there will be silence from you.
New Girl – that’s fair.
I’ve never understood why Teddy keeps getting elected.
Transcript of McCain’s appearance on Jay Leno’s show tonight… Race has nothing to do with it to me.. I have a real problem with a person(Obama) who is running to represent the USA and won’t meet and debate before the American people on issues. All we hear is change and New and change..but what is it? I’m all for keeping more money here..helping people here, cutting the pork spending and stop sending the jobs overseas.

Yoyo…
Yep…I would have to agree on the racist thingy…You can dislike a candidate for many things, but race or gender should be untouchable.
So, though you and I disagree on many things…I’m wit’ you on this one.
I wonder if anyone at the Denver lovefest is going to ask Ted Kennedy how many houses he owns.
And if he doesn’t know, will it become an issue?
After all, the media are bipartisan … they say.
YoYo- I may not agree with all of your politics, but I got your back on the racist thing, though.
=) No need for that!
What an idiot Obama is.
If he had picked Hillary Clinton he would have won the election hands down. Instead he showed that he was too scared of the Clintons, how Presidential.
After 19 months of blathering about change, he picks an old white dude as his VP. ROTFLMAO.
[...] environment that so is heavily in favor of Democrats that McCain is gaining ground and presently tied in the polls with Obama. Obama has everything going for him yet the McCain campaign has more then just held [...]
Mn Dad – You’ve got the next circus coming to your neck of the woods. Any buzz there? I hear Jesse Ventura (who I love btw) might stir the pot a bit.
And I haven’t been following, but please tell me Al Franken isn’t going to win the Senate seat.
#7 – Looks like we have ourselves a brawl.
YoYo, where are the racist remarks in coments #1 and #2 on this thread?
No I am not a racist but Obama is and so is Reverend Wright….you can’t think that you can call white people anything you want ….
What was said about Natalee Holloway was absolutely horrible…followed by racist comments towards white people….and the support of Obama in his church…
And your stinking defense of the perverts in Aruba…
YoYo doesn’t put in perspective how all of this came about…and it wasn’t just me…an isolated incident…the actual word was never used but did appear by another poster and BoZo never said a word….
But don’t think you can degrade white people and say whatever you want….the race issue wasn’t brought up by us…and we are tired of the race card…
You have ripped up some people on this board unmercifully …..but what would you expect from someone that took the defense of Natalee’s murderers……
#6 – I think a catagory you didn’t mention in your list that needs to be evaluated on both sides is AGENDA.
What are the agendas of these candidates? Where do they want to take us on THEIR little journey?
Who would have thought that a two term Texas govenor would take the country to war over the fact that the leader of a soveriegn country tried to kill his daddy? But it happened, didn’t it?
Ask yourselves. Does McCain want to bomb Hanhoi? Does Obama want to legislate reparations for African Americans at taxpayer expense, when bridges are falling down, no less?
I think these are the types of questions Americans need to think about. Where will we be after 4 years of either of these guys in the White House.
YoYo is the racist….!!!! And has been for a long time…!!! Just can’t handle the facts when presented…!!!!
Yoyo…
Haven’t heard much on scuttlebutt regarding the convention. My VP pick on the Dem side was wrong (Hillary)….but I am going to have to say that MN Governor Tim Pawlenty will be the VP pick. He’s done a good job in a state that is known for being fairly liberal. He’s young, a good communicator and brings someone who has truly been a leader to either ticket (Obama, Biden, and McCain are all Senators —- people who legislate but are crappy leaders). If McCain happens to die or fade away….Pawlenty will do a good job and won’t be over his head (much more qualified than Obama to be Prez if you ask me). Convention is here…what better place than to have the VP be from the host state/city.
I haven’t heard what Jesse ‘The Body’ is up to…but its always pretty humorous to watch the circus atmosphere he brings. I too like Jesse and actually felt he was the best thing for MN politics at the time. Instead of Dems or Reps blaming the other party for things not getting done, Jesse would call them both on the carpet and embarrass them in the media. They started to quietly work with him to get things done when they saw they couldn’t bully him or play politics with him.
I will keep the board informed if I hear anything good from any of my friends (though as you know, I consider myself libertarian with a lean to the conservative party) who are involved with both parties.
Obamas came about their money the hard way, they earned it. They are both lawyers and lawyers always get their money. Ms Obama earned a $300,000+ salary for turning a profit for a non profit hospital. Don’t ask me how, I think it had something to do with medicare and squeezing blood from stones. Way beyond my education.
#18- Nurturer:
Yes, of course their Agenda is of utmost importance as well. But, let’s keep it real and simple again—both candidates are going to promise the same things all Americans want, a better economy, more jobs, caps on inflation, withdrawl from Iraq, global harmony, protection from future terrorist acts, no raise in our taxes, less expensive health care, alternate energy resources, immigration reform, etc. etc. They both know what buttons to push and what we all want to hear….question is…how much will our next President and members of Congress stop talking the talk and start walking the walk ????
So Obama paid his student loan off 4 yrs ago…they make it sound like he didn’t have the money, which is a joke…he does what every rich person does, instead of paying off his loan he kept his money invested….end of story there…
Hillary sure got a standing ovation at the convention that lasted for quite a while…I bet Biden felt like an idiot….when you well know who the Democrats wanted….I’m sure it was a tough night for Hillary…
She certainly is a much stronger person than Obama and way more experienced and emphasized the importance of many issues….I think when she was the strongest in her speech and most sincere was when she gave her reasons for wanting to run for the Presidency….
Looked like Bill got chocked up quite a few times…
Jill Biden doesn’t look to excited about any of this….
