Will Obama Take another Vacation? Woops He Did it Again … Reverend Wright Slurs Italians … “The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses …”

Why will the Reverend Wright’s comments not go away and will continually Obama_REVhaunt and damage Barack Obama. Its the cockroach theory. To Hillary Clinton and especially John McCain, Reverend Wright is the gift that keeps on giving.

For all those that think that Reverend Wright’s recent anti-American and racist comments that caused a fire storm for Barack Obama were a one time incident … THINK AGAIN!  Where there is smoke, there is fire. Where there is one cockroach, there are many more thousand in the wall not seen.

This time the Reverend Wright, Barack Obama’s religious and spiritual adviser, made a slur against Italians. What’s next … racial slurs against Jews, Irish and the Polish? How could anyone call themselves a man of God, preaching the word of God and be consumed with so much hate, jealously and divisiveness? Better yet, how did Barack Obama just sit idlely by and do nothing? One thing is for certain, who honestly believes that one could listen and be a part of a church for so long with a message of hate and really be able to be a leader of all people? Obama states that Wright introduced him to God. And your point is Barack? Jim Jones and David Koresh introduced many people to God as well.

Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago where Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has been a member for two decades, slurred Italians in a piece published in the most recent issue of Trumpet Newsmagazine.

“(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him,” Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue. “The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.”

Wright continued, “From the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style. … (CNS News)

Obama’s pastor further went on to say the following:

“In a world that is controlled by white supremacy, in a country that is on its way to hell in a hand basket because of lying politicians, in a culture that still thinks ‘white is right’ and with young people who do not have a clue as to our story, our history, our legacy or our destiny, we still have African-American Christians who are more concerned about ‘bling bling’ than about freeing our minds,” Wright wrote.

Rev. Wright’s Italian Job (Hold the Garlic)

After calling Jesus’s crucifixion “a public lynching Italian style” executed in “Apartheid Rome,” he goes on to claim that white supremicists run the U.S. government:

“The government runs everything from the White House to the schoolhouse, from the Capitol to the Klan, white supremacy is clearly in charge, but Asa, like Jesus, refused to be defined by an oppressive government because Asa got his identity from an Omnipotent God.”

From WSJ’s Political Diary, Tuesday, March 25th:

“As a Philadelphian, I attended Central High School — the same public school Jeremiah Wright attended from 1955 to 1959…. I attended Central a few years after Rev. Wright, so I did not know him personally. But I knew of him and I know where he used to live — in a tree-lined neighborhood of large stone houses in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. This is a lovely neighborhood to this day. Moreover, Rev. Wright’s father was a prominent pastor and his mother was a teacher and later vice-principal and disciplinarian of the Philadelphia High School for Girls, also a distinguished academic high school. Two of my acquaintances remember her as an intimidating and strict disciplinarian and excellent math teacher. In short, Rev. Wright had a comfortable upper-middle class upbringing. It was hardly the scene of poverty and indignity suggested by Senator Obama to explain what he calls Wright’s anger and what I describe as his hatred” — Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, writing in the New Republic.

This guy is just plain loco….now he is attacking people’s nationality and their heritage…

Folks come here from other countries mostly with very, very little work hard and become successful…

Wright is spreading hatred thru the black community, so they are not making any progress, just making things worse…walking on some pretty shaking ground with his racism and words of hate statements….

    6. Richard on March 27th, 2008 9:41 am

I’m inclined to wonder whether this moron (for such he certainly is) is enjoying his infamous stay in the spotlight. Clearly, the media now are going to be focusing on him every time that he opens his mouth … is this guy so obtuse that he can’t figure that out?

I’m waiting until the Obama camp says that Hillary Clinton is bank-rolling the Rev. Wright to make his comments. Or, maybe, Clinton and John McCain. Every time that Wright speaks, people are forced to stand back and think.

Racism is a double-edged sword. (The remarks about Italians, etc., aren’t really racism, but they’re simply stupid and asinine.) Once again … those who believe that all people have the same rights and deserve the same respect must wonder: is THIS sort of garbage the result of the civil rights movement?

I want to see leading blacks speak up and denounce this inane bigotry. I want to see them assail this Rev. Wright on the grounds that his stupid comments are an insult to those, white, black, yellow, and all others who have fought to foster a climate of decency for all.

Are they doing it? No? Why not? Would it threaten their power base to speak up when doing so is highly appropriate?

Very well, then … why is it that blacks, or at least those who are in the public eye, speak out only to defend their own?

The whole civil polity is debased, and ideals become no more than power plays.

Obama failed to address the real problem:

      the breakdown of the family

      article posted at Gretawire:

LINDA CHAVEZ: The crisis Obama won’t confront

I expected more from Barack Obama. Like many Americans, I had hoped his candidacy might transcend the racial divide that has separated this country for too many generations. I disagree with Sen. Obama on virtually every important public-policy issue, yet I have watched every televised speech he’s made and every debate with a sense of admiration. I want him to succeed in his party’s presidential nomination battle, even when I fear, as a staunch Republican, that he might be the more difficult Democratic candidate to defeat in November. But he has profoundly disappointed me last week in his major address on race.

The speech, which tried to quell the furor surrounding his spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, presented an opportunity for Obama to tackle the real issue facing blacks today, which has little to do with race. Instead, Obama fell back on the tired formulas of the past.

He began with a stunningly inappropriate example of moral equivalence: “I can no more disown (Wright) than I can my white grandmother … a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.” Never mind that Obama didn’t choose his grandmother but did choose his church and spiritual mentor. Wright’s racist paranoia and repeated, vicious, public denunciations of America — for example, that our government created AIDS in a laboratory in a genocidal plot to infect blacks — are hardly the same as the occasional prejudiced remark voiced privately.

More fundamentally, Obama avoided dealing in any meaningful way with the single most important issue facing the black community: the breakdown of the family. This issue, and its consequences, explain far more about the failure of blacks to thrive today than racism or lack of social spending.

Seven in 10 black babies are born to single mothers today. These children will fail in school at higher rates than those born to two-parent families. They are more likely to become involved in criminal activity. Their poverty rates will be higher, and they are far more likely to repeat this pattern by giving birth to or fathering a child out of wedlock themselves.

Barack Obama could talk about this problem in a personal way. While his parents were married, his African father abandoned his mother in his infancy, and Obama was raised primarily by his white grandparents, including the grandmother whom he admits is “a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world.”

But instead of confronting the problem at the core of the black-white economic divide, he chose to repeat the litany of liberal explanations. Even while acknowledging the role of welfare policies in the erosion of black families, his main emphasis was on a “lack of economic opportunity among black men, and the shame and frustration that came from not being able to provide for one’s family. … The lack of basic services in so many urban black neighborhoods — parks for kids to play in, police walking the beat, regular garbage pick-up and building code enforcement — all helped create a cycle of violence, blight and neglect that continue to haunt us.”

Politicians in general — black, white and brown — have avoided talking about illegitimacy, even though it now threatens not just the black community but increasingly Hispanics and poor whites as well. Nearly half of Hispanic babies are being born to single mothers today, a big increase in just the last few years, and one in four white babies are born out of wedlock. And when you factor in high divorce rates, substantial numbers of American children will spend major portions of their childhoods in woman-headed households.

This crisis, far more than race, is the most important social issue of our time. Obama could use his bully pulpit to talk about it, but instead he chose to try to explain away black racism and rehash racial grievances, black and white.

Given Sen. Obama’s problems with his own church, hundreds of black churches and faith-based organizations around the country are involved in efforts to encourage marriage, including some in Chicago. Obama could have proved himself a genuinely courageous leader had he been involved in this effort.

Reverend Jeremiah Wright (WRONG!) is the leader of a racist cult in desperate need of extermination! The images of Jonestown and Waco have certainly become evident. It’s scary to watch Wright in action preaching his hate sermons and watching his followers (congregation) cheer him on…

hate between the races is always going to be around as long as there is someone to push the issue.
if white pastors made the racist comments that wright made they would be condemned, but the black so called ministers are allowed by the media to just spew the hate as long as they please.
i see a plot to disrupt the presidency by the black racist radicals and osamabama is the main ring leader.
all you white voters who have fallen in love with osamabama, don’t come cryin when he shows his real colors !

    13. Miss-Underestimated on March 27th, 2008 12:29 pm

Well Mr. Wright, as he should be called, and not be called a Reverend, must not have studied the same Bible that I have.

If, as it states in the Bible that this was God’s will for his son, Jesus to die for the sins of all. He would know that regardless of who was involved in the crucifiction of Jesus, this was all part of God’s plan. The same as we know of Judas, who was Jesus’ best friend who was picked to turn Jesus in.

Remember it was God’s will, even his son Jesus asked “if you can pass this cup” Jesus even asked that he be relieved of this, unless it was the will of God.

So now, based upon those statements in the Bible, since Judas has been bad mouthed all of these years, only to realize he was selfless and the Roman’s who were picked to be one of the parties to crucify Jesus. Are these people God’s chosen one? (Judas and the Romans)

Mr. Wright, take off the cloth of a man of God. You are a hater, using the cloth of a Church, as your stand.

    14. brie on March 27th, 2008 1:48 pm

Why do people go to church? It isn’t because you leave with a feeling of hatred and evil thoughts and not preaching a sermon that is appropriate for your congregation….I have always felt good after leaving church because it was wholesome…but what Wright is doing is preaching the devil’s work…this should not be happening.

Obama knows exactly what this church is about, it’s been going on for 20 years and yet he still continued to attend. We are not stupid!!!!

Obama should not in the presidential race, been exposed for what he is, no one but no one should be running for the Presidency with a reputation like this…a disgrace to our country…

Once again, Wright continues to prove he has become a HUGE political liability for Obama. Even if elected the Dem nominee….these very public comments have offended many and will not soon be forgotten.

Image is everything—and who you associate yourself with also in your life provides a huge influence and sends a strong underlying message.

As an American first, born here but of Italian descent—I was angered before by Wright’s speaches and comments. Now I am personally insulted. Barack needs to tell this man to shut up and go away….America needs to find our voice by voting for John McCain this November.

being from the south and having some black friends, I sometimes feel like we are beginning to move past all the racism crap, but then ignorant people like Wright and #21 bring it right back and divide people. These are the people who need to “free their minds”!

It is interesting to me how little has been said about the connection between Mr. Wright’s hatespeech and Michelle Obama’s comments on her feelings about being an American. If she has listened to this guy for years, I have to believe her thinking (and Barak’s) have been affected regardless of how they try to explain it away.

Rev Wright’s church has purchased a 10K+ square foot home for him to retire. They also bought the land. There is a 10Million line of credit attached to the loan which paid for all this. The land was purchased by Wright for $345,000 and later by the CHURCH for about $305,000. He’s got his congregation in some sort of a trance. Much like many of today’s televangelist who claim if their congregation member only plant a “seed” GOD will give them a windfall.

Wright’s latest rants were published in a magazine put out by his daughters. Once again he spews serious racist hatred. The “tribute” is the name of magazine.

He’s cancelled his appearances. “Fears for his life” ……….what a joke. That’s not the reason he cancelled.
