So Cal Fires continue to Burn … Over 1 Million Evacuated
Southern California wild fires continue to burn out of control fueled by the high Santa Ana winds. Until the weather patterns change, fire fighters battle the blazes almost in vane. Sixteen separate fires have destroyed over 1300 homes. At times the winds have reached 100 mph. Up to nearly 1 million people could be affected by the evacuations as officials have ordered the evacuation of nearly 350,000 homes in San Diego County. The wildfires have led to the largest evacuation in state history, with more than 500,000 people forced to flee their homes. Thousands packed evacuation centers.
Late Tuesday night, officials issued a new round of mandatory evacuations in the San Diego County communities of Fallbrook and Julian, an area devastated by a 2003 wildfire. Water and power in the town were cut off. (AP News)
