Carl’s Jr/Hardees Patty Melt on Flat Buns Commercial … How Appropriate is this in a Day and Age of Student/Teacher Sex Issues
What on earth is Carl Jr’s and Hardees thinking? How inappropriate could this commercial possibly be and how disrespectful to the teaching profession? The teachers union in Tennessee are up in arms. The ad is not only demeaning to teachers, it raises an even bigger issue of almost condoning teacher/student sex that has been almost an epidemic lately. Hot for Teacher as an 80’s music video is one thing, but an ad campaign for a business? Shame on you.
The ad features an actress undulating on and around her desk like a stripper while students rap about how they like “flat buns” — promoting Hardee’s Carl’s Jr. chain and its patty melt sandwich.
“How irresponsible can you get?” Earl Wiman, president of the Tennessee Education Association, said in a statement.
“At this very moment, there are female teachers in high school classrooms with 30+ students who are working hard to teach our children so that they can compete in today’s world,” he continued.

The easiest answer is DO NOT EAT AT HARDEES!
Every schoolteacher in the world should be offended by this ridiculous ad. As if teaching weren’t dangerous enough in many schools, now this.
Who is Hardee’s ad agency? What is their problem? But then again, somebody at Hardee’s okayed this debacle.
Such irresponsible advertising should not go unpunished. NO MORE HARDEES!
[...] bloggers have weighed in, with Tennessee Guerilla Women calling the ad “sexist” and Scared Monkeys writing: “The ad is not only demeaning to teachers, it raises an even bigger issue of almost [...]
People say that those that complain about such an ad should lighten up … My response to them id get a friggin clue.
The last thing in the world that is needed is promoting the sexual relationships between teachers and students.
Wonder how this ad would be if the teacher was a man and the students were girls???

I’m here to tell you that it will be a cold day in hello before I use my Hardee’s discount card, ever again…the one that they give TEACHERS??? I won’t be darkening their drive through for a long time.
It is nice that the teachers union has its priorities straight. They have time to condemn a commercial, but where is the condemnation of the real teachers who actually engage is sexual relationships with their students. The silence, from the teachers union, is deafening.
Not mentioning any names here, but I have spent a career in packaging(labeling). Some fast food chains use beef that is rated lower than say what you buy in the store.
Not everything served is USDA Prime, Choice, Select, Standard or Commerical grade. Although the FDA denies a formal alphabet grading system, meat manufacturers can have their beef/meat graded by the USDA. And yes the USDA used A, B, C, D and E. Snopes claims there this is not an alphabet grading system. Check it out at http://www.ams.usda.gov/lsg/stand/st-pubs.htm
You connect the dots and decide where you and yours get your next happy super value extra king sized meal.
Many Rap songs deal with “big booties”, so what’s so bad about the parady of ‘flat buns.’?
An ad is an ad. What the hell! When will these radical religiously influenced upstarts stop trying to impose their own religious moral beliefs on us americans who hate intolerance! Especilly pointless shit like this. The teachers union sounds like the taliban. I wouldnt’ pay the teachers union a dime. And we’re supposed to be in Iraq to spread freedom and democracy. Bullshit!
Mike,
When is voicing your opnion intolerence?
Aren’t you trying to impose your non-religious views on the religious?
Why do you label Christian views as intolerant when you yourself are being intolerant of Christian views?
Hypocritical don’t you think?
