The Juice Gets Squeezed: Goldman Family Wins Rights to OJ Simpson Book, “If I did It”

OJ Simpson scheme back fires as judge awards book rights of “If I did It” to the family of slain Ron Goldman.

The decision by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge A. Jay Cristol to satisfy a $38 million (euro27.82 million) wrongful death judgement against the former football star ignored complaints from the family of Simpson’s murder ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, who was slain along with her friend Goldman in a brutal 1994 knife attack.

After all this time, it is about time that OJ Simpson has been put in his place and hit where it hurts him the most … his pocket.

On Monday, Fred Goldman, Ronald Goldman’s father, said he intends to release the book as a measure of justice to portray Simpson as “a wife-beater, as a murderer, written in his own words.”

I am so pleased with this decision in favour of Mr. Goldman and Ron’s sister Kim & you’re right that its about time that the courts put an end to what imo is allowing lawyers, Simpson’s friends & relatives to aid this man in hiding from a civil judgement. I feel ANYONE who’s been helping Simpson hide money should be gone after in a civil court for damages themselves. I’m thankful Mr. Goldman has found lawyers that are willing to go after OJ & those helping him.

The Goldman’s have been put through hell for so long & seeing Fred…..his voice cracking up as he speaks of his son is gutwrenching to this day for me.

I was taken aback that Denise Brown was on tv last night being against this ruling saying that the money won’t bring back Ron & Nicole BUT OH….since the Goldman’s were successful in their court action that they want more of a cut of the judgement citing “its only fair coz it’ll go to the estate of Nicole for the kids”. She concedes that the Goldman’s did all the work seeking this judgement & is talking like the kids are still 9 & 6 years old. Going as far as to say they want a bigger cut of the money “in case the so called kids decide to sue their own grandparents for not doing so”

Sounds like hogwash to me & i hope it falls on deaf ears!

Good for the Goldman’s! Now I hope the damn book is published and it makes millions!!

Good for the Goldmans, it is about time something was in their favor. Poor OJ just doesn’t realize what a washed up has-been he is. The creep got away with murder and I hope the rest of his life is a living horror.

They need to rename the book to “I did it.”

I also say congrats to the Goldman’s. I watched Denise Brown last night also and it made sense what she said. She is against the book being published. She said who needs to go through the gory details of her sister and their son/brother’s murder again. She also said everyone knows OJ killed them. She said her parents would do anything to get to see Nicole’s kids. The settlement was any money from OJ towards settlements her parents lawyers would have to see the money, to get Nicole’s side of the money which goes to her 2 children. If they don’t Nicole’s kids can sue Nicole’s parents for the money. She is against the book being published and said Fred was also before. The whole reason they went to court against the Goldmans was to try to stop the book being published. I see their point also. I don’t begrudge Fred and his family rights to the money due to them either. This has taken a toll on him and Ron’s sister Kim. I heard he was going to rename it, Confessions to a double homicide or something like that and that Fred would or might add an epilogue to the book.

I’ve got a different take on this issue….

First, I don’t think OJ should have written it in the first place if his intention was to make money off it for himself. (which I’m not sure he didn’t write it just to have a way of settling the lawsuit payout while cramming it subtly in the faces of his accusers…could have known they’d go after the proceeds and planned it that way)

However, Second, I have never understood how a Wrongful Death suit was won against OJ when he was tried and found Not Guilty. I mean, whether he was guilty or not, a court of law decided he was not.

Third, Fred Goldman better watch out for a slander suit if he keeps calling OJ a murderer based on opinion….especially if he changes the name of the book like he suggested he was going to do to How I Did It. OJ could end up getting the money back.

Now I have to address (for the trolls) that we keep saying Joran did this and that, but that’s different because he has not been legally tried and found Not Guilty in any legal court.

    13. mayan_moons on August 3rd, 2007 3:39 pm

Fred Goldman doesn’t have to watch out for anything coz for one thing its true that he’s a double murderer, a civil jury confirmed it and second Simpson hasn’t sued Fred & won’t as a countersuit would be filed and he’d have more lawyers to pay for a suit going nowhere.

How can anybody agree with Fred Goldman?! Did you all forget that Nicole’s two children are being left out completely by this man. All he worries about is making himself rich off his dead son’s name. It seems to me that the Goldman and Nicole’s two children BOTH won a civil suit although Mr. Goldman has gotten good at forgetting that. He is worse than scum, making money off his dead son. Who wants to read that trash anyway, other than another vulture. We all know O J got away with it and he thrives on this stuff, whether he makes a profit or not. He loves the publicity and I think he doesn’t deserve any form of publicity. The public should forget about him and quit feeding his and Goldman’s egos. They are both sick!
      ____________
SM: They are being left out because no one on that side wanted to be a part of the law suit. Being awared money is only half the battle. One must then seek ways to get it.

Fred Goldman did not go after the book for the money IMO. He went after it so that OJ would not profit on his dead son. That is quite different. I think you are barking up the wrong tree to even compare the two …
