Edwin R. Hall, the 26 year old who individual who is charged in the murder and 
strangulation of Kelsey Smith, had a criminal record at the age of 15. Why does this not surprise any one of us? Edwin R. Hall “pleaded no contest as a 15-year-old to threatening his sister at knifepoint“, according to court records.
A man accused of kidnapping and killing a suburban Kansas City teenager pleaded no contest as a 15-year-old to threatening his sister at knifepoint, according to court records.
A judge ordered Hall removed from his home after he entered the plea to aggravated assault in May 1996, and he was placed in state custody, the court records state. A second charge of making a criminal threat was dismissed.
Hall’s parents, Carol and Don Hall, of Emporia, didn’t immediately return a call Friday. One of their daughters, Sheila Garza, answered the door at the parents’ home and said the family would not comment except to say: “We are devastated for Kelsey’s family and their loss.”
Court records indicate Garza was not the daughter Edwin Hall threatened.
Carol Hall told The Emporia Gazette for Friday’s editions that the couple adopted Edwin Hall when he was 7 and knew he had problems associated with his early childhood.

One has to wonder where the parents and sister were when the Target photos were broadcasted over almost every news station across the country and certainly all over KS.
Think of the time, money and additional grief they could have saved Kelsey’s family.
While someone who causally knew him might not recognize him until they put him together with the truck, I would believe that if that were my child, I would recognize him if only from his stance and general mannerisms. I also want to know what closet his wife must have been locked in that she wouldn’t also have known.
Now if someone will tell us where to find Kara from Belton – I think Edwin “Jack” knows.

Hall was confined in four facilities from 1996 until 1999, according to the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority.
In 2002, Hall and his adoptive parents were sued by a Lyon County man who claimed Hall beat him in the back of the head with a baseball bat, court records show. The man sought $50,000 from the family, but the case was dismissed.
Hall, 26, of Olathe, faces at least 25 years in prison if convicted of the murder charge and more than 12 years on the aggravated kidnapping count.
Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline said it was unclear whether the case would be tried in state or federal court but that the death penalty would be possible either way.

What’s scary about this is that it happened in board daylight in public.
Yes, KS has the death penalty – lethal injection, but it hasn’t happened for years and years. I think there are currently about 7 on death row in KS. Use to be by hanging, too bad that changed in this case. In 1994 it was ruled unconstitutional for a period of time, but has since been reinstated.
I learned that this punk dyed his hair the black color we see in the video recently, that his hair color was blonde.
Haven’t pinned down exactly when he dyed it but i’ve got a feeling it may have been AFTER Cara went missing!

Where was he in October 2002? There was a young women went missing in a bar near Grand Forks North Dakota her remains were found a year later.
I said it before, and I will say it again…. To “Jacks” defense, why are we all of a sudden believing everything that the news says in this case when we havent even heard what “Jack” has to say. I feel really bad for HIS family here, and if I could I would try to bail him out ASAP so that he could actually DEFEND himself here. I am pulling for you “JACK”.
Criminal records don’t lie. They don’t necessarily mean guilt in this crime either, but I don’t think that the news publishing his record is false. Why don’t you wait until Thursday when the evidence is introduced before you bail him out? For the safety of those in his community I think that would be smart.

The evidence was supposed to have been presented on Thursday when he was officially charged. However, he waived his rights to hear his charges as he had not secured a lawyer. The rights will now be read to him with his lawyer this coming Thursday. Then, you will hear evidence. That is why I said wait until Thursday. Killer or not, it is official record that he threatened his sister at knifepoint as well as other things when he was a minor. That makes him someone to watch out for, IMO.

I can understand if his adoptive parent did not recognise him. It seems they realy only had him for a few years before he started getting in trouble. He was already damaged when they got him. They had not seen him in years and had no idea where he lived.

Does Hall’s wife know you are pining for her husband? Well I don’t know what you are saying she is up to (and I admit curiousity as to what and how you know, if you truly do). If I were her I would be investing all of my time and attention into protecting my son. I’m sure she still loves Hall, regardless of what happened. You can’t just turn your feelings off like a lightswitch. That’s probably why she erased his Myspace so quickly and why she has stayed out of the media, so as not to bring even more attention to things. I think she is being smart and thinking about her child first, like any good mother would do.
Justice will prevail in the end, as it usually does, and most likely prove him INNOCENT…..

Oh my gosh, i know nobody in prison as of this time. i just got done writing to someone explaing myself a bit more clearly. I can, and always could have been able to tell a lot by someones eyes, and am always right on the money. Look, Jack needs a good friend right now, wether he did it(which he probably didnt)or, not, i will continue to be his friend. i dont know why i feel the need to defend him. I dont know why i know in my heart that he is, indeed, innocent, but i feel close to him. Maybe that the stars, or the universe alighnment could be the reason for that one. whatever it is, i will not question it. He has had a terrible life, with not a soul, it looks like whom has actaully stuck up for him no matter what. That is my job right now. Myabe he will notice, maybe not, but i just feel drawn to this case which does not make me evil. it does not make me a “wacko”, and it does not entitle any of you to tell me to , and i quote “shut the hell up”. Kelsey Smith Case: Edwin R. Hall Hunted Kelsey Like “Shark On Chum”

Kelsey Smith Case – Edwin R. Hall was hunting Kelsey Smith. New surveillance video shows that Edwin R. Hall was looking at several different women inside the Target store Kelsey Smith vanished from, but when he saw her, his focus became her.
Edwin R. Hall, who was arrested last Wednesday and charged with pre-meditated, first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in the death of Kelsey Smith on Thursday, was following several different women inside the Target store, including one woman with a baby, but his focus was turned to Kelsey Smith as soon as he saw her.
An official who viewed the video said that when Hall spotted Kelsey, it was like “a shark on chum,” and his eyes locked onto her at that very moment.
Hall is set to give his plea today (June 14, 2007), between 10 and 11 AM EST.
The Case: Hall’s arraignment was scheduled for Thursday afternoon and lasted all of 3 minutes.
A reporter for FOX News said that Hall appeared to be confused and had trouble answering simple yes or no questions during the arraignment, which he attended via video phone. Hall also said that he has no attorney, though earlier reports claimed he did, and waived his right to read the charges against him.
Kelsey’s family and close friends were present.
Edwin R. Hall, from Olathe, Kansas, allegedly dumped the body of Kelsey Smith in a creek 2 miles from his home, and 20 miles east of the Target store where she was abducted. Hall is believed to have crossed state lines from Missouri into Kansas, which has made him eligible for the death penalty.
Bond for Hall was set at $5 million.
Well, well, well just as I suspected..the attorney for Edwin Hall asked the judge today to not “FARM” Edwin out to another jail because of “THE VOLUMOUS” EVIDENCE against him…see the police do have a huge amount of hard evidence! He’ll never see daylight again.

There is NO question in my mind that he is the killer. I am drawn to this case also, but not because I feel bad for “Jack” Edwin Hall. I am purely curious what will become of him in court.

Politics has a lot to do with everything. Especially high profile cases that help to get the politicians elected. They are the most condiscending, selfish people ever (like yourself). I pay taxes too, yet still, i do not find the death penalty right what so ever. I also do not find sending someone to prison forever for a crime that they did not commit right either.
Oh yeah, only a sick person would lie about someone being abducted at gun point. Look into it…. you say that you are following this case better then me. if this was true then yuou could also find out about that other abduction. You could very well, too, find out that phonecalls can be made from jail cells. “What really happened” has all to do with politics. Sad, but true, because of politics this entire world is at war with one another. So, everyone…. How does she know that he “did not?” Was she with Jack that day? If she’s not his alibi, then sweetness cannot say that Jack is guilty. Evidence shows guilt and so will the forensics. And also, the eye witness who had an encounter with him near the Target store at a middle school. She’s lucky to be alive.

That murderer likely has an antosocial personality disorder (according to the DSM-IV) which means he is a sociopath. FYI, I actually do have a psychology degree, two of them. My prayers go out to the victim’s family.
