Edwin R. Hall Charged with Capital Murder of Kansas Teen Kelsey Smith … Death Penalty?

26 year old Edwin R. Hall has been charged with capital murder, rape, aggravated Edwin_Hall2sodomy. He had previously been charged with kidnapping and killing 18 year old Kelsey Smith. In all, this makes Edwin R. Hall eligible for the death penalty. It couldn’t happen to a more fitting individual. Justice for Kelsey.

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) A man accused of abducting a Kansas teenager from a store parking lot and strangling her was charged Tuesday with capital murder, making him eligible for the death penalty.

Edwin R. Hall, 26, also was charged with rape and aggravated sodomy – counts that were necessary under Kansas law for 18-year-old Kelsey Smith’s slaying to be considered a capital crime.

Hall already had been charged with kidnapping and killing Smith, but Johnson County prosecutor Phill Kline changed the premeditated first-degree murder count to capital murder.

JUSTICE FOR KELSEY

In other sad news in missing persons/crime, the coroner confirmed that the body found Monday morning was identified as Kelly Nolan, a 22-year-old University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student.

I was soo pleased to hear this scallywag is facing the death penalty and i have no doubt he’ll get it too. His death will be a humane one though unlike Kelsey’s.

they have not asked for the DP yet, this just makes it a possibility.

This man has no right existing, he took an innocent life.

Mojo…do not worry. He killed a girl after raping and sodomizing her. They WILL ask for DP, trust me on this one.

Also have a bad feeling the other missing girl is a victim of the same guy. The MOs are all, too similar not too look at that.

One more thing, read this last part of the article SM linked to this report. Seems we have a repeat offender on our hands. WHAT a surprise!! (NOT)

Also Tuesday, Hall appeared in court via closed circuit television to hear additional charges of aggravated indecent liberties. He is accused of having a sexual relationship in 2004 with a 14-year-old girl.

A hearing on that case was set for July 19.

I live in the same city as Kelsey and just because it’s now a capital case DOESN’T mean he is up for the death penalty yet. That will be determined later – per Phil Kline our DA.

Please go to http://www.kelseysarmy.com and purchase some wristbands for Kelsey’s Army – the Kelsey Smith Foundation.

Dear jhawks…thx for letting us know about the bracelets. I live very near VA Tech and my son’s high school sold wrist bands to help with the fundraiser for the victim’s and their families. Such a good idea to openly display support for a good cause…although it was for something bad that happened.

This just in, Edwin Hall pleaded guilty Wednesday in the kidnapping, rape and slaying of Kelsey Smith. Now I wonder whay he gets in return?? Life without the possibility of parole perhaps? Now the tax dollars of the citizens of KS will provide for his 3 hots and a cot and medical care, etc for the rest of his miserable life if this is so! And he will be able to marry and with conjugal visits, beget more like him! *sigh*
