Aruba, Too Many Hotels … endangering nature and a Disappointment for the tourists that come to Aruba to rest and expect good service.

Hey Aruba … Its not easy being green.Aruba clean up day

Well here is a completely different take on Aruba and how the developers are in the process of ruining the once, “One Happy Island”. Sometimes its not about how many hotels, restaurants or condos one can build in a vacation spot that makes it a viable location. Sometimes its about the ambiance and the purpose as to what brings people to a particular location over another. With Aruba struggling with “post-Natalee Holloway” syndrome otherwise known as “cover up a crime,” Aruba looks to the answer as being … if you build it they will forget and come. They could not bee more wrong, in so many ways.

Stimaruba says that the unspoiled nature of Aruba is going to be endangered by the construction plans for a hotel near Arashi.Aruba_hotel-map

Stimaruba, the organization that devotes herself to nature conservation and nature protection, reacted very concerned on the reports about the plans for the build of a hotel near Arashi.   The organization points out a publication in February 2006 of Coastal Zone Management, in which is clearly indicated that the area is reserved for recreation.   Stimaruba is of the opinion that there are too many hotels in Aruba already.

From the plans it appears that there is no end to the build of hotels and condominiums and that is according to Stimaruba, a disappointment for the tourists that come to Aruba to rest and expect good service.   That’s what they pay for.   “They are our guests and they have to feel welcome here.”

Aruba_Beach_Oilrefinery

Just because one builds more does not necessarily correlate into more tourism. Especially when Aruba does not address the number one PR nightmare they they have in not properly investigating or prosecuting the crimes against Natalee Holloway. Beyond the PR issue, Aruba faces another tourism problem. Many people cane to Aruba and purchased time sharing and return vacations because of its quaint culture and hospitable people. Much of that is all gone and continues to erode as more hotels are built, more workers are imported and Aruba grows farther and farther away from the island in the Caribbean that everyone once wanted to vacation on.

Amigoe, May 30, 2007: Stimaruba is up in arms against hotel construction

Stimaruba says that the unspoiled nature of Aruba is going to be endangered by the construction plans for a hotel near Arashi.

ORANJESTAD — Stimaruba, the organization that devotes herself to nature conservation and nature protection, reacted very concerned on the reports about the plans for the build of a hotel near Arashi.

“They are our guests and they have to feel welcome here.”   Olinda Rasmijn van Stimaruba says that guests of the low-rice hotels keep returning every year, while those of the high-rise hotels are just objects to be stripped bare as much as possible.   Many tourists come to Aruba especially for the environment, water sport, for the clean blue sea, for exotic food, and clean rooms.   They do not come for an island that continues to get busier, with heavy traffic, with a lot of CO2 emission, and where more and more roads need maintenance and repairs.

Rasmijn continues pointing out the unique characteristic of the scenery at Arashi, where there is still the ruin of an old pig farm, and where a few water birds can be found that actually disappeared from the rest of the island.   Inhabitants of the island and tourists love to go to Arashi for the surrounding area, the coarse sand, and the vegetation.   Also body surfers love to go to Arashi to show what they can do on the waves.   On this part of the island with the beautiful beach and blue sea, people like to snorkel, and scouts and other groups like to enjoy their activities.   Stimaruba that demonstrated against the build of a hotel at Fisherman’s Huts earlier is now pleading again for a controlled usage of the beaches, according to the recommendations of Coastal Zone Management.

What a beautiful refinery setting in the background! How relaxing.

I agree. What a wonderful scent to go along with the beautiful landscape. NOT!

Wreck, I thought the same, makes a beautiful back drop for the tourist photo’s. Who’d wanna swim in the water with a refinery that close?

Unspoiled Aruba? The place is a reeking cesspool in everything that really matters, as events have shown us over the last two years….

The casino owners want all the hotels they can get. More hotels mean more suckers losing their shirts at the tables.

Let’s hope, though, that the boycott shows them where they are wrong. A little justice could go a long way in attracting back people … but honestly, I think the stench that has engulfed Aruba’s image is too great at this point.

The stink from the refinery is nothing relative to the stink from the Sloot and Kalpoes.
But they will do nothing about either stink.

Wreck, that’s funny. Aruba, you’ve got problems with the PR department, and the polis department, and the van der scums, and the kalpoes, and the crime–aruba, got anything right. How about justice for Natalee, can you get that right?

There’s an article on this topic on Caribbean Net News. Here is an excerpt:

“Failure to encourage development that is balanced, sensible and smart – development which preserves the environment and boosts the human resource potential of the local people – will result in an inverted model of development that would continue to benefit the rich nations of the world, who have built their empires on the backs of the people and from the resources of the developing world.

No offense to avid golfers, but let’s analyze the proliferation of golf courses across the Caribbean and the concomitant strain on water resources to keep these greens well manicured. And what about the chemicals that are deposited into the soil to remove insects, but inevitably end up killing valuable marine life through the ridge-to-reef effect following heavy rains? As sustainable tourism advocate Andy Dumaine puts it, the amount of water to maintain a golf course meets the needs of 8,000 households. Golf tourism unquestionably generates tourism revenue, but at what cost?

These are some of the questions journalists are encouraged to ask our policy makers and private sector leaders so that the natural resources of a destination are not exploited in the quest to maintain attractive executive compensation packages and to keep shareholders happy.

We must continue the education process at conferences such as those I’ve mentioned. Otherwise, while tourism development might yield strong economic gains for the Caribbean, if unmanaged, it could result in debilitating effects on the environment, culture and people of a destination. ”

Additional Note to Aruba: Start treating your crime as if it exists and your laws as if they were meant to be enforced. Start treating tourists as if they matter as much as their money.

The refinery is no problem IF IT IS RUN WELL. There are refineries all along the coast of Southern California near beaches and they cause no problem. The real problem is the new (and justly received) image of Aruba in the mind of the traveling public. Over taxing limited resources and increasing the number of visitors required to break even in this economy will spell the real downfall. Their numbers are stagnet. Someone will need too close if new areas are open.

Just a little reminder as to who/what we are dealing with. None of his interviewers mentioned if any of these incidents were factual. They were never brought up.

Case against Carlos and Charles’ and JVDS
An AMERICAN 18 year old (BLONDE) woman in ARUBA who had contact with Prime Suspect J. SLOOT in April 2005. (the woman is from NJ, The young woman while at “Carlos ‘n Charlie’s” she had observed Prime Suspect J. SLOOT’s “predatory habits.” The woman was with 2 of her friends at “Carlos ‘n Charlie’s” when Prime Suspect J. SLOOT approached her and her friends repeatedly and relentlessly inside, and he kept trying to impress them. He pointed out Current Suspect D. KALPOE and Current Suspect S. KALPOE sitting in the same seats as shown in the infamous photo of the 3 and told the woman that they were his gambling friends. Another short friend of his came up and was telling the women how rich he was and what a great athlete. He appeared to have an open tab at the bar. When “Carlos ‘n Charlie’s” closed (at 12 AM that night because there was a large fight the previous night) IMO This could be our friend Judy who does not want to get involved. Pictures with Joran outside C and C’s one month before Natalee’s trip. I emphasized BLONDE.
Marie said she made four trips to Aruba with friends and believed the island was safe. That’s why she had no qualms about traveling there alone for Christmas 2001. She stayed at the same Holiday Inn where Holloway and her high school classmates booked their ROOMS. On Christmas Eve, Marie said she went to Carlos ‘N Charlie’s, the same bar where the missing Alabama teen was last seen. When she left, Marie said a man pulled her into his car, drove away and raped her.
On 8-12 Received a tip she is following up on from a young woman who lives in ARUBA. The woman was at “Carlos ‘n Charlie’s” earlier this year and Prime Suspect J. SLOOT asked her to dance. The woman declined, and soon started towards the ladies restroom. Before she got to the ladies room, Prime Suspect J. SLOOT cut her off, brandished a knife near her, and, supposedly told her, “You don’t know who you are messing with. My Dad is an attorney, and I can get away with anything.” She has not yet notified the ARUBA police about this woman’s claims.
On 8-24 “MSNBC” wrote, “Occasionally, they want to help with the case. A young woman and her mother approached Holloway Twitty one night, and told her that the main suspect in Natalee’s disappearance, Joran van der Sloot, also had tried to get her into his car after a night at Carlos and Charlie’s, a local bar. That young woman later told the FBI about the same incident.”

The refinery stinks. It is not up to good 2007 standards.
But then it is in St. Nikolas, where only the poorer people live, so no worries.

There is only one thing that will repair the image of Aruba in the eyes of the public watching since the disappearance of Natalee, that is the truth about what happened to one American tourist…..not the double-talk that has been the case thus far.

I have a question to ask which I have never understood. Aruba is a beautiful place, I am afraid not for long….the building and developing as stated will put an end to what is now appreciated about Aruba. Why in a country that has wind to the extent Aruba does, is there not a single windmill generate energy?

According to the map, Aruba looks way overcrowded now. The island is only 19.6 miles long and 6 miles wide. Self-destruction!!!! Just can’t get it right!!!! No values for nature, among other things!!!!

    26. 10061906 on May 31st, 2007 8:05 pm

Is this the area they call Weg Fontein?
If so isn’t this where they found the VCB Tee shirt, Geoff looking sun glasses an/or lysol and cleaning products.
Story died just like every else about this case.
This area seems to be at the other end of the island from where Natalee disappeared; but it is closer to the industrial incinerator.

    27. Mary Ann on May 31st, 2007 8:09 pm

This is not Arashi Beach for any one who knows Aruba. You diliberatly misrepresent the Island. If you are talking about Natalee then say so, but don’t present your distorted picture of Aruba. I pray that Natalee Halloways case is solved but I also think as a long term American visitor that it is basically over.

    28. david r on May 31st, 2007 8:45 pm

#27, I don’t see how you can visit Aruba after the way they have treated Natalee and her family. I don’t care if the whole island becomes a refinery playground like New Jersey or Houston. I have been to the Yucatan a dozen times, but if the Mexicans had done what the Arubans have done to Natalee and her family, I’d never go again. For many of us on this site, it will never be “basically over.”

    29. 10061906 on May 31st, 2007 9:32 pm

This could be another reason why the US is not getting involved with Natalee’s disappearance.

I’ll tell you what is “basically over,” as you put it:

Aruba’s days of falsely promoting itself as a safe island
      Aruba’s tourism
Aruba’s cover-up of the death of an American tourist

IMO you are very foolish to travel to an island where,
if something bad happened to you, nothing would be done about it.
In fact, the crime would be downplayed, dismissed, or covered up. Perhaps
you should check out the Crime/Murder on Aruba thread.

Aruba’s recent destruction, was of their own making.

How these murdering, raping, pigs MIShandled the Natalee

Holloway Case, dropped the atomic bomb on their waning

      tourism market…

They have only themselves to blame at the end of the day!

You’d have to be an effin full-on-DOLT to see what happened

to Natalee Holloway and her family, and still want

I hope tourism continues to tank, people get steaming
pissed, and somebody does something really nasty Joran,
his rabid dog of a father, his pig of a mother,

    33. 10061906 on May 31st, 2007 11:12 pm

      Was this a confession?????
From Joran’s book. Pages 39 and 40: Freddy narrating: The next day Tuesday May 31st, 2005 in the afternoon, I was with Joran at the racquet club. Joran looked worried. He asked me if I could remember what he had said the previous day about the girl. I told him yes. The girl had gone missing. The FBI had been to his house during the night but he had not been home. His father called him to find out where he was. Joran said he was in the Raddison Casino. He told me that after that phone call he was called on the phone by Deepak and that Deepak picked him up a few minutes later. They drove to Joran’s house. The FBI and the girl’s family were at the house. After that Joran told me that Deepak, Satish and himself did not drop off the girl at the Holiday Inn Hotel, but the four of them drove to the beach at the North side of the Marriot Hotel. The girl had fallen several times on the way to the beach. Joran told me that at some point she no longer came around/no longer regained consciousness and after that they left her on the beach. I asked him why he left her there? He answered me that at that moment he had not known what to do. Joran told me that after this he was dropped of at home by Deepak and Satish.

The girl had fallen several times on the way to the beach. Joran told me that at some point she no longer came around/no longer regained consciousness and after that they left her on the beach. What this is telling me is: I’m sorry to put it so bluntly….
One: If it was determined that Natalee’s body would be allowed to be found: then body evidence of cuts, bruises, contusions and head trauma could easily be explained. She was drunk and fell several times. The last time she fell she did not get up.
(She got out of the car and fell and hit her head Joran)
      Two: Natalee was beaten:
Three: Beaten enough that she died from it!!!!!!
Four: Natalee was probably brought to the PVDS residence so they could decide what the next course of action was. Or it happened there and she was moved within 24 hours.
“I know that Natalee is no longer alive; because I have seen the evidence and you have not.”
      QUOTE JAN VAN DER STRAATEN.
Van der Straaten was with Paulus when Beth arrived.

Keep talking Joran just keep on talking. Your book is going to hang you.
Where is the rest of the translation or where can I buy a copy?

    34. 10061906 on May 31st, 2007 11:41 pm

I do not believe we have ever been told exactly what the charges were against Joran to have him arrested. However both Guido and Geoff were arrested for suspicion of kidnapping, heavy battery and murder. How come? Someone ratted on them to Dompig.
      Either Michael or Andreas.
Lets go back to a motive of why Natalee in particular was chosen. Geoff assaulted Natalee at C and C’s. Joran also almost got into a fight with the MBHS students over advances toward Natalee. Guido had a white car and a white car followed the four when they left C and C’s per Joran’s statement to Freddy.
But what I don’t understand is why Freddy and Koen were left alone at Joran’s while he and the K2′s are out having sex with a white blonde female tourist that is coming in and out of consciousness: that they just left on the beach when she did not regain consciousness. Why did they not share? Better yet why aren’t Freddy and Koen even mentioned later on. They were at Joran’s but at no point in the timeline are they ever mentioned again. Why?
IMO The crime against Natalee happened at the Vand der Sloots. Probably in the younger sons bedroom; not in Joran’s apartment.
The motive was revenge and the game had escalated to the next level.

#27, Mary Ann, it ‘ain’t over.
      Not by a long shot.

In fact, I just heard of some monkeys singing a song they call an ‘oldie’, from someone named Karen Carpenter: something about … “We’ve only just begun …”

      Oh, and Mary Ann…

Those cowardly liars were arrested June 9th, 2005, with the parental figure ( if you can call him that), being arrested several days later.

At least that was their first “official” day of finally being dubbed: “suspects”, after they were granted ten days + …to erase evidence, desecrate Natalee several times, and hold all their LIE plotting meetings.

Perhaps you meant that “it’s all over” for THEM – THE LIARS, THE MURDERERS, THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE NO SOUL OR HUMAN HEART, WHO CONSPIRED TO MURDER NATALEE / OR WHO PARTICPATED IN COVERING UP THE CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST NATALEE, SO THAT THEY COULD COLLUDE IN DENYING HER FAMILY FROM EVER LEARNING ABOUT WHAT THEY DID TO NATALEE, ALONG WITH ALL THEIR CO-CONSPIRATORS WHO LIED, IGNORED EVIDENCE, DESTROYED STATEMENTS, AND BETRAYED THE TWITTY HOLLOWAY FAMILY’S TRUST THAT THE ALE WOULD CONDUCT AN HONORABLE INVESTIGATION.

But you can never know how cruel or how heartless a man or woman can be, until they display the kind of moral depravity that was inflicted upon Natalee’s mother, Natalee’s father, and Natalee – the victim.

If this was what you meant, – that “IT’S OVER” for these vicious, heartless killers and co-conspirators, then I agree with you.

It is all over for those liars who thought nothing of terrorizing the beautiful Twitty Holloway family, and lying about their involvement in what was done to Natalee.

And “We’ve only just begun” … to let the world know, of the savage human rights violations inflicted upon Natalee and her family.

Nine more days left, to see what the Dutch Investigators REALLY came to Aruba, to do…

THE WORLD IS WATCHING, MARY ANN.

      The clock is ticking.

      Beth is writing.
      And others are investigating.

And if ever there was a voice for this beloved child, it shall be found through her mother’s and father’s love for her, and their faithfulness to finding her and bringing her home.

Many new Americans will be learning of the horrific cruelty that was inflicted upon Natalee and her beautiful family as they arrived two years ago in Aruba, begging for justice and integrity – and something as simple as HONESTY IN HELPING TO FIND AND RETURN TO THEM, THEIR BELOVED DAUGHTER.

Imagine someone stealing your baby’s body, after savagely victimizing your child, so that they could then proceed to shield themselves from the public ever learning of their malicious, devious, perverted, CRIMINAL conduct, while officials lie to your face about their knowledge of what was done to your child and where she was taken? (Satish: “We got bored, and we all agreed to go to THE HOUSE.” May 31, 2005.)

Moral decency is not complicated, Mary Ann.
      Compassion is not difficult.
And honesty and integrity are fundamental for ANY society that wishes to be considered as “civilized”…particularly if they are interested in being a “tourist” destination.

All it takes is a little heart – something that has been missing for a very long time in the callous souls of Natalee’s killers and in all those who conspired to obstruct her family from ever learning HER TRUTHS, as well as denying her body be returned to her loved ones.

The oil refinery is but a symbol, Mary Ann… a symbol of the veil of dirty polis, and corrupt judicial tactics involved in obstructing a little girl’s voice, … something her mother and father, will NEVER allow.

      They cannot crush her voice.
      They cannot bury her truth.
Her story is going to be told, and they can either choose now, to step onto a path that is rooted in good CONSICENCE, or, end up entrenched in the smog of cruelty, corruption, deception, lies, and a festering criminal deviousness that will forever contaminate the atmosphere of that island.

Would you choose to go to an island for a vacation of KIDNAPPING, GANG RAPE, SAVAGE HEAVY BATTERY, FOLLOWED BY MURDER, MARY ANN? Is that what you would choose for your child knowing what the world will learn about Aruba’s ALE: that they consorted to OBSTRUCT this child’s truth from ever coming to light, while assaulting her honorable good name, so that they could feed off of more tourist dollars – figuring, that their savage indifference and assaultive remarks made about the victim, would be believed by millions of Americans who witnessed the daily unfolding of LIES and CORRUPT CONDUCT deomonstrated in this case?

The oil refinery is but a symbol, of the cloud of darkness that lurks over Aruba, for as long as Aruba chooses to have no conscience, there will only be left the soot coming from the decayed air rising from the stench of corruption, savagery, cruelty, lies, and criminal conduct that was allowed to fester and infect the entire island…even when inflicted upon guests to Aruba’s economy: the tourists!

Natalee Holloway is going to become a name long remembered and spoken of, over and over again, Mary Ann.
She is NOT going to go away, despite Paulus’ attempts to erase her with his “No corpse, no case” solution to the hideous events that were inflicted upon this precious child.

If I were a long time visitor to that island, I’d begin packing my bags, otherwise, I’d join with those who are insisting (perhaps quietly for now, Mary Ann) that justice be served to Natalee and to her family. You see, there isn’t a level headed business man or woman, corporation, investor, etc who is going to invest money on a island that is doomed to drown in a chosen path of destruction through corruption, while consumers begin to become more familiarized with the TRUTH of WHAT was done to Natalee Holloway, HOW her family was treated, and HOW the Aruban LE treated her family, along with the vicious kidnappers, rapists and killers who took her precious life away from all her loved ones.

In particular Mary Ann, they will read that letter, dredged up from the bowels of moral depravity which was assaultively used as a means to crush the spirit of Natalee’s family while savagely attacking the victim – IN DEATH.

Thousands of people will learn about the depraved indifference inflicted upon Natalee’s family, as they read the logic summed up by so many, that reasonably questioned HOW ANY HONORABLE POLIS OFFICER could claim that NOT searching the LAST THREE MEN SEEN TAKING THIS CHILD AWAY – was somehow… REASONABLE?

Millions of people will learn about that May 31 statement, made by Satish, and all the MISSING STATEMENTS, and it really won’t take much to see through the deceptions, the perverted interests being protected at the expense of a CHILD TOURIST’S TRUTH, and HER FAMILY’S RIGHT TO HAVING THEIR BABY RETURNED TO THEM, AND THEIR CHILD’S RIGHT TO JUSTICE BEING HONORED.

People will learn WHO the orchestrators of this savage cruelty were, their actions, what was done to crush the spirit of Natalee’s family as they grieved helplessly over the loss of their daughter, while being cast in front of a sea of cameras, forced to apologize for ASKING FOR JUSTICE, ASKING FOR INTEGRITY, ASKING FOR HONORABLE DECENCY AND COMPASSION TOWARDS THEIR VICTIMIZED CHILD.

Millions will know of Paulus’ famous words of heartlessness: “No corpse, no case” – spoken IN THE FIRST DAY…

They will learn how the car was never searched, how the three were allowed to walk off without even so much as an interrogation – despite POSITIVE PROOF THAT THEIR STATEMENTS WERE INCONSISTENT WITH FACTUAL EVIDENCE – those holiday inn tapes, that proved no drop off ever took place.

They will learn of the of horrific manner that the ALE responded with in learning of Paulus’ HOLIDAY INN LIE MEETING and the clarity of truth that this meeting could ONLY have taken place, BEFORE BETH EVEN ARRIVED ON THAT ISLAND, BEFORE IT WAS EVER ANNOUNCED THAT NATALEE WAS MISSING.

Aruba will NEVER BE “OVER” NATALEE’S TRUTH…because no matter what Paulus tries to do, along with all his co-conspirators, this child’s truth will be spoken.
Her story is going to be told.

      Truth, honor, integrity, …CONSCIENCE.
These are hallmarks of any society that wishes to be considered as “civilized”, Mary Ann.

      It’s not complicated, Mary Ann.
When you die, Mary Ann, would you like to be buried or have your ashes cremated and kept someplace special where you can be remembered by those who love you?

What do you suppose a murdered child, a TOURIST GUEST to Aruba deserves?

Do you think Natalees’ tormented family deserves to be allowed to – at the very least – BURY their precious daughter in her homeland?

It was never about the oil refinerys, the building of hotels, the loss to Aruba’s economy or even the now necessary BOYCOTT OF ARUBA, because for us: IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT JUSTICE FOR NATALEE AND FOR HER FAMILY.

It will NEVER be over, Mary Ann, until NATALEE COMES HOME, HER TRUTH IS TOLD, HER JUSTICE IS SERVED.

But for the murdering liars who took this beautiful child from her loving family, I’m betting it is all over for them…as for everyone else..especially BETH AND DAVE, their family, and all those who promise to hold Natalee’s right to justice and her truth being told as something special and sacred ( because it’s simply the RIGHT THING TO DO, Mary Ann), …for all those who continue to stand by Natalee’s side… WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN.

“We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason if we dig deep in our history and doctrine and remember that we are not descended from fearful men, not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes which were for the moment unpopular. We can deny our heritage and our history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result. There is no way for a citizen of the Republic to abdicate his responsibility…

No man can terrorize a whole nation, unless we all become his accomplices…” (E.R. Murrow)

We will not become accomplices to the savagery and cruelty, the depraved indifference and torture inflicted upon Natalee and upon her family.

      We’ve only just begun …

JUSTICE FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY AND HER FAMILY!

1006 (#20) — This is one of the weirdest, and possibly most sinister, aspects of the developments in the last two years. I am in contact with someone who has been doing Internet research since the early days of the case, and doing it on behalf of people most intimately concerned.

Early on, it was found that documents on the Internet were being altered; that key words were being put in (to make those documents come up on Google searches) and that viruses and other computer-destroying booby traps were being inserted.

This is no joke: several people lost their computers to this. Now, if no more than three punk kids and a failed wannabe judge are involved, who was doing this? Who was taking records out of public domain? Lots of info on Joran’s school and other Aruban things has apparently disappeared from the Internet.

WHO would be sanitizing things to this extent, and WHY?

Doesn’t seem so simple anymore, does it?

And in your comment #33, you cite Jan van der Straaten: “I’ve seen the evidence and you haven’t.” Natalee is dead. Very simple.

Only as far as I know, that evidence has never been produced or revealed.

And we DO know that months after that statement was made, Aruba quietly asked neighboring nations to be on the lookout for Natalee.

Uh … what? Didn’t you say she was dead? And then you want nearby nations to be on the watch for her?

Sure does sound to me like they WANTED everyone to think that she was dead, right off the bat. Of course, there is the little detail that we haven’t seen a body, or any trace of her at all, as far as is known ….

It would be interesting to question van der Straaten.

One more thing. This thread is, in part, about Aruban time shares.

Someone said it’s over. It isn’t.

We have someone who has volunteered to let her New Orleans timeshare be used for people participating in the demonstration against Aruba Tourism Authority at the end of June.

The ATA will be in New Orleans June 27 to July 1 at an “exclusive” travel show (for travel agents only) sponsored by http://www.vacations.com. Do you want these travel agents to hear only the Aruban point of view?

Please, people, if you are in the vicinity of New Orleans, contact VolunteersforNatalee@gmail.com and you will be put in contact with the lady making the very generous offer.
So far as I know, it’s not a scam.

We confronted the ATA in Boston.
We confronted the ATA in Miami.

Stand up for Natalee in New Orleans.

No justice for Natalee … no tourists for Aruba.

Every day there seem to be new articles on human trafficking. Here’s one from Oregon … what a relief that stuff like this can’t happen in places like Aruba.

Sex slave trial gets under way, victims testify

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man accused of kidnapping two teenage girls and holding them as sex slaves was in court on Thursday, where he heard testimony from the alleged victims that included detailed descriptions about the horror they said they went through.
The story actually begins back in 1990 when a 16-year-old girl escaped from a Hillsboro home where she said she was held against her will as a sex slave by two men.
“I don’t know, I just got a burst of courage and grabbed the gun that was next to the bed and ran across the hallway and tried to break out the window” the alleged victim, who is now an adult woman, testified in court. “They were right behind me, so I just dove through the glass.”
Shortly after her escape, police arrested Vance Jay Roberts and his half-brother, Paul E. Jackson.
The brothers went to trial in 1991, but before the proceedings could finish, they fled the state while out on bail, prompting a nationwide search for the pair.
The two avoided capture for 15 years, but in September of 2006, Roberts walked into the Washington County Jail and turned himself in. Jackson is still wanted and his whereabouts are unknown.
In court on Thursday, Roberts listened as the two women who said they were victimized told their stories. One said she was held hostage and raped for a week and the other said she dove through a window to escape. Both said they thought they would die.
“There was no way to escape,” one of the women testified. “I was in some form of bondage at all times, meaning a chain around my waist or handcuffed at my wrists or my ankles.”
Both victims were prostitutes. Each said they voluntarily got into Roberts’ truck and were then kidnapped. They said being in court revived a nightmare they put behind them long ago.
Prosecutors do not know whether Roberts and his half-brother have committed any other crimes since 1990, but criminal profilers say this type of behavior is so egregious that there is a chance there may be other victims who have not stepped forward.

Or this (huh? WOMEN are involved in this too? Weren’t we told that traffickers are always men?):

      http://news.yahoo.com/s/ksat/20070601/lo_ksat/13423455

Women Arrested In SA’s First Human Trafficking Case
Thu May 31, 9:52 PM ET
Police said three San Antonio women were arrested Thursday in the city’s first human trafficking case.
The women are accused of forcing young girls from Nuevo Laredo into prostitution.
The case represents the first local charges under the Trafficking In Victims Protection Act that was passed in 2000.
The women are scheduled to appear in federal court on Friday morning.
If convicted, the women could serve up to 10 years in prison.

      (end of article)

There’s also a story out today about a man in Dallas who was trying to buy a 9-year-old girl for $2000, but enough is enough. As it happened, he made his approach to a police informant.

But you get my point: all this stuff is a myth.

      #27Natalee’s case is not over
and the boycott has just begun.

“It” will be over when the perps are in jail.

    42. 10061906 on June 1st, 2007 8:49 am

IMHO: If Natalee is buried on Aruba….
Natalee is not buried at the Fisherman’s Huts.
She is not buried at the lighthouse.
She is not buried at the beach near the Marriot.
She is not buried at the beach near the Holiday Inn.
She is not buried at the sand dunes.
She is not buried on any location on the west side of the island.
      Why?
First: After you dig down more then 18 inches you would probably hit fairly solid soil. Almost anywhere on Aruba to do any kind of digging mechanical equipment is required. That is why there are above ground crypts in the cemeteries.
So forget Joran saying Deepak killed Natalee and buried her on the beach. It is not that easy on the west side. Maybe the east side.
Second: There is more of a population of tourist there and activity; then anywhere else on the island. All the hotels are located along that strip.
They want us all to think that is where she is buried.
      Third:
Shango; “She is far from where the searchers have been led”.
There are so many other desolate areas of Aruba where a body could be buried and not attract attention while you are digging.
If disposed of any where on the west coast it would be the pond or the bird sanctuary and the landfill is far south on the island.

So if you live on Aruba and are very familiar with the terrain and what is available; you would pick an area that is desolate but would not require a tremendous amount of digging. The Gold Mines near Montana at Seroe Cristal would be IMO; ideal.
You take the body; place it on a 4x and drive off road to the mines and air shafts. Some of these shafts are almost 800 feet deep and are full of water that does not leach out to the sea.
Shango: “What you seek is not hidden”. He didn’t say anything about being inaccessible.

      1906…Could it have been Anita?

    44. 10061906 on June 1st, 2007 10:52 am

      miss-underestimated:
      What could have been Anita?
      If you think Shango. NO.
I tried to identify Shango last year and thought it may be the motorcycle mechanic.

    45. sparrow on June 1st, 2007 11:51 am

1906, I was up until 2 a. m. this morning reading Shango, again. The statement, What you seek is not hidden, has to be that they did not bury Natalee as we think of as in a grave, but I am inclined to believe like you do. Shango did say off the road. I really believe you’ve got this right. I was occupied with the cremation theory, and that maybe, but the shafts just maybe where they disposed of Natalee. Bless this child, and I pray that all the crimes against this angel comes out soon. Breaks my heart as I know it does all of us who care.

It does make me laugh to see a comment about “being green” made by an American when the USA is probably the least “green” country in the Western world….

    47. sparrow on June 1st, 2007 2:05 pm

I am thank-ful to be an American. I love my country, and I love my South.

    48. Sorry on June 8th, 2007 3:07 pm

Well, the best part of the article is the first photo. Those aren’t hotel rooms, they are apartments are being renovated in Ponton (just north of downtown). Wow, talk about getting your facts straight. Spin, Spin, Spin.

    49. arne on September 4th, 2007 3:40 pm

Wow, it is amazing how many people are drawn to that piece of dreck aRUBa…

If you want to have a really existential vacation on an Caribbean Island that is still green and has to loveliest people in the world: GO TO TORTOLA!!!!

Unspoilt, peaceful, they keep the jail open for the one thief/drunk, they have who simply checks himself in.

Visit an island that is run by former slaves, rather than former slavekeepers. And by the way, if you’re dutch, you ain’t much!!
