Barack Obama … Newsweek Says The First Gay President … The Politics of Distraction
WELCOME TO THE POLITICS OF DISTRACTION … The economy is in shambles, a record number of Americans are on food stamps, one in three Americans are underemployed, the US debt is out of control and even the fabricated unemployment rate is over 8% … however, the news story of the day is Barack Obama, the first gay president.
From Newsweek magazine :
UPDATE: Newsweek forwards the following preview for Sullivan’s piece:
It’s easy to write off President Obama’s announcement of his support for gay marriage as a political ploy during an election year. But don’t believe the cynics. Andrew Sullivan argues that this announcement has been in the making for years. “When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work.” And President Obama has much in common with the gay community. “He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,” Sullivan writes.
So Democrats think this is now a winning issue? Well, they most likely never thought that it would come to Obama being dubbed the first gay president; however, when one has to distract and distance themselves from their terrible first term as president, anything is better than having to defend the pathetic and terrible present economy. So why did Obama bite the bullet and finally admit his position on gay marriage? To get the campaign dollars of course, 1 in 6 bundlers identify themselves as gay. However, this might have damning political consequences to Obama in swing states in the 2012 election. As the Gateway Pundit reminds us, 32 states, including North Carolina where the Democrat Convention will be held this year, have voted against gay marriage.
As Protein Wisdom stated, Clinton was the first black president and now Obama is the first gay president. Too bad we did not have a president who actually cared about getting people back to work and the growing the US economy.
What has occurred is that the complicit liberal, in the tank for Obama MSM has taken their taking points and orders from their favorite candidate as they are trying their best to make this a story with legs rather than discuss the economy.

Sway: I was wondering, what is your reaction to Proposition 8, and would you vote yes or no on it? And for our audience, Proposition 8 is the California state ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage.
Obama: I have stated my opposition to that. I think it is unnecessary. I believe that marriage is between a man and woman and I am not in favor of gay marriage.

Obama didn’t declare anything substantial.
Can you imagine if Abraham Lincoln had said this:
“PERSONALLY, I FIND SLAVERY TO BE REPUGNANT. NEVERTHELESS, I THINK EACH STATE SHOULD CONDUCT IT’S BUSINESS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE VIEWS OF ITS OWN CONSTITUANCY”.
Can you imagine Lincoln making a statement like this the night before he headed down to Mississippi and Alabama to do a campaign fundraiser??
I don’t know why Gay Americans are so “over the moon” about Obama’s position on Gay Marriage…
If I were gay I would be feeling manipulated and disappointed by Obama’s “big statement”.
#2 -
He was stating his position, and the fact is that (as it stands) each state has the ability to define its own marriage laws. Yes his position has “evolved” over time. Big Whoop…its not like he went from anti-gay to pro-gay; he went from “civil unions should be good enough” to “They are not good enough”.
I suppose he could go as far as trying to promote an amendment to the US Constitution, but that would be a futile gesture and everyone knows that.
Just saw a poll this a.m. on the morning news that said 26% of Americans would be LESS likely to vote for Obama based on his same sex marriage “revelation”.
Here were the rest of the percentages:
54%- Would have NO affect of voting overall
18%- Would have an affect
2% – Undecided
Put those numbers in your delusional crack pipe and smoke it, Mr. President.
Coming out to make his public declaration about his “change of heart” to the MSM was strictly a political move, and hopefully the educated voter in America will NOT be manipulated by this.
Lame.
I prefer the Puritan way of living. The way it is suppose to be.
#5—The Puritan way of living? Wow, ok. Different strokes for different folks I guess but I can’t even begin to imagine that lifestyle. Too restricted for me.
[...] were nearly tied just a month ago. However, that was then and this is now that Obama has become the “first gay” President. No sooner had 61% of North Carolinians voted for a referendum adopting a constitutional amendment [...]
