Democratic Bipartisanship … Pelosi and Democrats Will Begin Without Republican input
So much for those pre-midterm election Democratic promises about bipartisanship. According to The Washington Post, “Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.”
But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.
This really comes as no surprise as who really believed the Democrats boasts prior to the mid-term elections? Unfortunately, it appears many fell for the sound bites. There are consequences to elections and so they begin. One wonders whether President George W. Bush will finally pick up his pen and veto something.

its payback time from being under the thumb of Tom Delay. yup, the Repub. congressman can now be shut out of negotiations, shut off from questions during hearings, and shutdown from making amendments. its a what-goes-around, comes-around process. meanwhile, let’s tell the federal judges that if they don’t like their pay, there are thousands of lawyers who are willing to take their place at the lifetime public feeding trough for the same money.
So then by the post of above the dems are NO different from the Repubs? I thought they said they will be bipartisan? So much for all those they fooled.
Can we say “Business as usual, with the taxpayers paycheck being held hostage”
DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH…
Jackson80 just made the point.
The sound bite that Dems ran on that they were different than Republicans. They would end the lack of bipartisanship. Yeah right.
All Dems will do is show the voters that there needed to be a change in 2008 in Congress again.
Democrats winning in the midterm was actually a blessing to Republicans.

SM: As we said … this is yet another example of the change in tone that Democrats promised to get elected.
By 2008 many will have buyers remorse if not sooner.

R – depends where you live. In Texas a $200k will buy a home that has an equivalent value up in Virginia worth ~ $550k. My real-estate taxes prior to the republicans being in office in ~ 1999 were $1,800 p/yr. Today they are $6,400 per year.

WASHINGTON – Democrats are the new masters of Capitol Hill. And they have their gun sights trained on the oil industry.
Led by newly minted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, House Democrats plan to push through an energy package on Jan. 18 that will target producers who have been able to pump crude in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico without paying royalties to Uncle Sam.

While the repubs were in control someone in the Texas legislature forgot to impose the oil royalities for the state treasury and the State of Texas lost over $1.2 billion
in income, but the taxpayers paid the burden with increased property taxes and 8.25% sales taxes.
