RSSIts Already Beginning … Democratic Post Election Comments … What Democratic Civility?
In the spirit of Democratic bipartisanship and post election good will, we are presented with the following comment from one of the most senior, Democratic members of the House and the ranking member of the Ways and Means Committee … Elections have consequences and they do matter.
“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” (Charlie Rangel D-NY)
Nice. Get used to it folks. Just how long does anyone think the Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid “DC love-fest” will continue of bipartisan BS? The elections are over and Democrat’s true feelings do not need to be held back anymore, especially from the more liberal ones. The liberal wing of the Democratic party kept their mouths shut during the lead up to the election, bar one, John Kerry. They did so that the people would vote for the more conservative candidates they ran out their against Republicans. Now comes reality of what will be the next two years. Read the following, insulting lie of a response from Rangel’s office.
Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., issued a news release criticizing Rangel’s words.
“I hope his remarks are not the kind of insults, slander, and defamation that Mississippians will come to expect from the Democrat leadership in Washington, D.C.,” Pickering said.
Elbert Garcia, Rangel’s press secretary in New York, said Rangel had received calls Thursday about the Mississippi quote.
Garcia e-mailed The Associated Press a response from Rangel: “I certainly don’t mean to offend anyone, I just love New York so much that I can’t understand why everyone wouldn’t want to live here.” (Sun Herald)

Either say what you mean or mean what you say. I take the
apology with a grain of salt. Atleast, Mississippi doesn’t
QUITE have the crime rate of New York… so stick to issues.

President Clinton was, up to September 11???

Now, more than ever, we need people in office who are STATESMEN, not mere politicians. It’s a forlorn hope indeed … but if bumptiousness, acerbic talk and the usual mud-slinging on either or both sides is allowed to prevail, the next two years will be dismal indeed.
Remember what Plato said about democracy and why he ranked it as next to the worst form of government: in his view, under democracy everything inevitably slides to the lowest possible common denominator. It’s something that bears thinking about.
Let’s hope that we can be determined that this will not be allowed to happen.
Perhaps Rangel’s comments were aimed at his fellow New Yorkers … I suppose he isn’t aware, or doesn’t care about, the conceptions that many of his countrymen share about the inhabitants of NYC.
(Disclosure: I lived in NYC for a few years, and found the usual mix of good, bad, and indifferent. Obviously the environment gives rise to behavior that out-of-towners find difficult to accept. The problem is, in a way, that when NYCers take their habits outside the city, the results are often unfavorable. Anyway, NYC is a great city … but at this point, I wouldn’t care to live there.)
i’m from Mississippi and yes, Miss. is economically a poor place to live. but if you are a country boy there’s no better place to live. and Rangel, we wouldn’t have your sorry a$$ tainting our beautiful state. just like all politicians, he could care less for his fellow human beings. they are only there for the money, the gifts, and the power. i’m neither democrat nor republican, but i hope the democrats can do a better job that what has been done in the past six years. i think we’ll see about the same thing that we have always seen from our politicians.
What do you expect? I’ve been up all night worrying and
looking at pictures of the beautiful terrain and the only
word that comes to mind is coveys. There are atleast two
very sick people in Aruba. This is even more than my sick
mind can comprehend. SOMEBODY had better stop allowing
people to go there. This had nothing to do with Natalee.
This has more to do with a deprivaty, true sickness.
Worse than anything that I could have imagined… maybe
even Devil worship. This is absolutely horrible. What
religion are these people??? Do you know? This is truly
the most evil thing that I have ever witnessed and believe
me once you’ve seen it, you witness it. How could ANYBODY
do that???????
Richard: I wish you would have told me to leave. I wish
I’d never seen it. I went and spent some time, probably
an hour with my son and when I came back it was near the
end. I don’t know what you have here, except to say that
there are alot of victims and there are atleast two people
that know. There has to be more!!! Why didn’t they want
to do the radio show? It seemed like a good idea. For
me, everytime I try to think about them, there is just so
much guilt… different kinds though. In fact, I don’t
hear any remorse coming out of the perpetrator, but the
whole island feels guilty… they know.
I agreed with Roy in the long run, though. He seemed
very level headed… alot more than me. I still think
that the white boy did it, you know. But how could that
man dressed in white do what he was doing? and who is he?
Is he the gardner that you all speak about, although I get
the impression that he has helped you in the past.
What about the parents of the white boy… are they normal?
Up-state New York is pretty!!! And the people are nice.

When Liberals/Democrats call for more civility, they mean from others such as conservatives/Republicans, never from themselves.
Bush naively tried to the the uniter not the divider and was slandered and smeared worse than any president in history starting from day one with the claim that he stole the election. Endless recounts proved otherwise but the damage was done and there were never apologies.
Conservatives would be foolish indeed to believe for one minute that the liberals now ruling in both houses of congress plan anything more than business as usual. This is an excellent case in point.
More money for New York and insults for Red State Mississippi. Let us not be fooled twice. At least not by these very same people who did it last time.
