Muammar Gaddafi’s Son Saif al-Arab Killed in a NATO Strike Today

More from Obama’s War …

Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, the youngest son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was killed today in a NATO air strike. Also reported killed in the air strike was 3 grand children of Muammar Gaddafi. Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and his wife were in the house at the time; however, both were unharmed.

Nato air strike in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, has killed the son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, a government spokesman has said.

Colonel Gaddafi himself was in the large residential villa which was hit by the strike, the spokesman added, but was unharmed.

His son Saif al-Arab was said to be killed, as well as three grandchildren.

Nato said it had struck a “known command and control building in the Bab al-Azizya neighbourhood”.

A Nato spokesman said that the air strikes were aimed at military targets not individuals.

Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, commander of NATO’s military operations, said in a statement:

“We regret all loss of life, especially the innocent civilians being harmed as a result of this ongoing conflict,” Bouchard said. “NATO is fulfilling its U.N. mandate to stop and prevent attacks against civilians with precision and care — unlike Gadhafi’s forces, which are causing so much suffering.”

The NATO commander stated that all targets “are military in nature and have been clearly linked to the Gadhafi regime’s systemic attacks on the Libyan population … We do not target individuals.”

So far the report is unconfirmed. NATO said Sunday it had struck a “known command and control building in the Bab al-Azizya neighborhood” and it just happened to be the same place where Muammar Gaddafi and his wife were visiting their son. According to Reuters, a Libya disabled children school hit in NATO strike. Could you imagine the outrage in the MSM if this had happened if GWB was President?

UPDATE I: Scepticism surrounds ‘Gaddafi son’s death.

Was Gaddafi’s son really killed in a NATO air strike or was it just more masterful PR by Gaddafi? No matter what the truth is, we are witness to the fact that Obama is in over his head and has gotten involved in a war that not only does not have an exit strategy, it does not have a strategy at all. Whether this was a true story that his son was killed or a Gaddafi ploy, it worked … advantage Gaddafi.  The result of the NATO attack that targeted the home of Gaddafi’s son is that the British and Italian embassies in Libya have been vandalized.

The comments came as clashes continued in several parts of Libya, with reports of vandalism on the British and Italian embassies in the capital.

Following the reports, the UK expelled the Libyan envoy, giving him 24 hours to leave the country.

“The Vienna Convention requires the Gaddafi regime to protect diplomatic missions in Tripoli. By failing to do so that regime has once again breached its international responsibilities and obligations,” William Hague, the British foreign secretary, said in a statement, referring to Gaddafi.

“I condemn the attacks on the British Embassy premises in Tripoli as well as the diplomatic missions of other countries,” Hague said.

Meanwhile, the United Nations announced it had evacuated its international staff from the capital due to the unrest.

I wonder if the table could be set for libertarians like Ron Paul and Gary johnson to make some waves in the primaries and sway the democrat, independent or other peace loving people (and protesters) to vote for them. You would think most people in the USA, regardless of political preference, are getting tired of the wars and the “nation building” after all these years. Bring the soldiers home and put them to work securing our borders from illegals.
Libya was no threat and we had no business getting involved in their conflict. In the end I feel this may only stir up more hostility and hatred toward the USA. No one really wins here… whats there to win?

I agree completely.I supported Obama and am very disappointed.I would probably never vote Republican but if Ron Paul ran against Obama, I would vote for him in a second because he knows whats wrong and that things have to change. We have no right to be in Libya.Where does it end?Why don’t we bomb Bahrain and Syria? They are doing the same thing Libya is supposedly doing.Where does it end.I am tired of our tax dollars being wasted on these military adventures.

Can you only imagine what the news cycle would be like if W was President and killed 3 children while trying to assasinate a foreign leader?

However, the all mighty Obama and the in the pocket MSM its a different story.

What a fiasco of a war. Didn’t Obama say this war would take days and not weeks?

The sword of Islam is the translation of Saif’s name.
He was just as crazy as his father. NATO got it right. Too bad they missed pappa Nuts! Two more sons and Muammar Gaddafi need to go.

But was anyone really killed? With Quadafi who knows what is the truth and what is propaganda. Already there are doubts being raised.

Yes, innocent lives being lost is tragic, ask the relatives of Pan Am 103.
      _______________
SM: I would agree, my college suite mates girlfriend was aboard Pan AM 103. It was a horrendous time.

That being said, we best be careful that we do not act in the same manner as Gaddafi. More importantly, just be honest. If story is confirmed, its obvious they targeted him.

The National Guard should be guarding our nation’s borders. We should be spending money building our own infrastructure not Egypt. We should be building new schools in the US, not Afghanistan. We need to take care of our own country, not spending what is left of the nation’s wealth and the lives of our young people on foreign adventures. Libya did not attack us. Some of the people fighting against Gadafi were fighting the US in Iraq. This is another takeover of a country by militant Muslims who will soon be taking us over. And our government is helping them. What is the goal of Obama’s administration? Does anyone know?
