This child is between four and five years of age. Her height when compared to the checkout counter indicates a height of approx 36″. The child needed a youth seat rather than a baby seat. Mom and dad, if there is a dad, should have made plans for this transition long ago.
The officer should be commended for his kindness and his willingness to go beyond his duty to serve the community. However, he has enabled this mother to avoid her parental responsibilities of providing legal safety equipment for her child.
Also read somewhere that she failed to pay her car payment(s) and the car was repossessed with the car seat in it. Irresponsible on more than one count.
But yes, agreed, the officer is to be commended.
