Police Identify Man Who Left Bar with Missing UVA Student Hannah Graham … Described as a 32 Year Old Black Male, 6′ 2″ with Dreadlocks (Update: Searched of His Car and Condo)
According to Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo in a press conference Friday, missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was seen by eyewitnesses and on video with a man on Charlottesville’s downtown pedestrian mall early Saturday. Longo went on to say that they believe Graham went to a bar with him on the mall and they believe she was also in his car when he left. The police have searched a car and a condo Friday in connection with the disappearance of a University of Virginia student Hannah Graham. Police served a search warrant and seized a vehicle outside 164 Hessian Hills apartment complex in Albemarle County Friday morning. The apartments are “just minutes away” from the Downtown Mall where Graham was last seen on security camera video before she went missing on the morning of 9/13/14. The police have not named or arrested the person of interest, they have described him as a 32-year-old black man with long dreadlocks.
Press Conference: Passionate plea from Chief of Police Tim Longo in search of missing Hannah Graham … Everyone in the sound of my voice, you have the responsibility to find her
Police who searched a car and a condo Friday in connection with the disappearance of a University of Virginia student almost a week ago say they have identified the man who was with Hannah Graham when she was last seen.
Witnesses saw Graham, 18, of Alexandria, Va., inside a downtown restaurant and bar early Saturday with a 32-year-old man who had been observed earlier on surveillance video tailing the sophomore, Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo said.
Before the two entered the bar, witnesses saw the man, dressed in all white, put his hands around Graham’s waist. At the bar, the man bought alcohol, and he and Graham left after 15 minutes, Longo said.
“People saw Hannah, and people saw him, and people saw them together,” Longo said.
Shortly after that, the man’s 1998 burnt orange Chrysler coupe left the city’s Downtown Mall area, a seven-block pedestrian strip lined with shops and restaurants. Longo said he believes that Graham was in that car.
“There was no probable cause to arrest him, no legally sufficient reason to detain him,” the police chief said. “He’s not in custody, but we know who he is.”

Police executed a search warrant of the man’s car, a 1997 burnt orange Chrysler Coupe, and an apartment at 164 Hessian Hills Way Friday morning. The man police were looking for was inside the apartment along with two other people, but he is not in custody, police said.
The man is described as a black male, 32-year-old, 6′ 2″ tall with dreadlocks dressed in all white. Multiple witnesses told police that a black man with dreadlocks turned around when he saw Hannah Graham walking on the Downtown Mall, police said.
“We’re interested in him,” Chief Tim Longo said, but did not call the man a suspect. Police said they have spoken with this man and want to speak with him again.
Volunteers wanted in search: The Virginia Department of Emergency Management was organizing the search, and volunteers were required to register at a website, helpfindhannah.brmrg.org.
Anyone with information on her disappearance is asked to call Charlottesville police at 434-295-3851

What are the chances that this guy in the surveillance video … who appears to be stalking this young young lady just prior to her sending a text message stating that she was lost … does not have a connection?
I cannot move past it.

Police search for ‘person of interest’ in UVa. student Hannah Graham disappearance
September 18, 2014
New Security Videos
Two videos released Thursday morning showed missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham as she walked along the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville early Saturday morning. The video also showed a man who appeared to be following Graham.
That man later showed up at the police department and told officers he saw another man put his arm around Graham in what appeared like an effort to help the teenager. Police now hope that second man comes forward with information about the student’s disappearance.
The first security video was taken at 1:06 a.m. from a camera at Sal’s Pizza, located at 221 E. Main St. It showed a man walking into the camera’s view. He looks over his shoulder and then steps into a doorway as Graham walked past, police said.
Once she walked past the man, he started to follow her, police said. The second video was taken at 1:08 a.m., from a camera at Tuel’s Jewelers located at 319 E. Main St. It showed Graham walking and the same man following behind her, Charlottesvile Police Capt. Gary Pleasants said. Again, that man has come forward and spoken to police.

Missing student Hannah Graham spotted on video walking in opposite direction of apartment
September 17, 2014
Search teams originally combed through other parts of Charlottesville on Monday, after they read a text Graham sent at 1:20 a.m., which stated that she was lost near 14th and Wertland Streets.
Now investigators don’t believe she was in that area at all.
“We don’t know whether it was auto correct on her phone or she just typed it in wrong, we have no idea,” Capt. Pleasants said.

The time frame indicates that the “black man with long dreadlocks” was observed at 1:00 with Hannah which was prior to the surveillance camera at 1:06/1:08 that captures what appears to be a stalking by another male.
I could be wrong … story of my life … but somehow I do not believe the “black man with long dreadlocks” is involved in Hanna disappearance.
‘Major break’ in missing UVA student case as police question person of interest, search his car and apartment in hunt for Hannah Graham
September 19, 2014
Virginia police searched a car and an apartment and questioned a person of interest Friday who was seen buying alcohol with University of Virginia student Hannah Graham shortly before she disappeared Sept. 13 in downtown Charlottesville, authorities said.
Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said new witness accounts led investigators to an off-campus apartment where they interviewed a 32-year-old black man with long dreadlocks who was seen on surveillance video putting his arms around the 18-year-old as she walked along an outdoor mall around 1 a.m. that morning. The man was not identified and Longo said prosecutors determined there was no probable cause to arrest him.

LJ Matthews was identified as being the man with Hannah in Tempo AFTER 1:00AM. Not specifically 1:00AM. He was also there after 1:00AM for 15 mins which indicates it occured AFTER the video in which he is seen circling back up to her. The 32 year old man was witnessed with his hands on her waist and buying an 18 year old drinks (underage in VA). The white guy who is also seen in the video who was following her was later seen meeting up with friends and has an alibi that checked out.
Yeah, I’m putting my bets on he (the black man with dreadlocks who has been identified by his own family and admits he bought her drinks) knows where she is.
Suppose this POI transported Hannah to a location other than his apartment and turned her over to some other people. If she got in his car, then he should have some answers regarding where he took her.
