UPDATE I: Search halted for 3 missing after Colorado slide.

The search for three ranchers who disappeared after a huge mudslide in a remote part of western Colorado was called off Tuesday as authorities turned their attention toward monitoring for another potential slide.

Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey said the slide remained too unstable to continue looking for the men.

“We don’t want to create any more tragedy than we already have,” he said.

The three men were checking on problems with an irrigation ditch caused by an initial slide Sunday when a large chunk of a ridge broke off, sending soggy earth spilling like wet cement for 3 miles. The slide is about three-quarters of a mile across and several hundred feet deep at the center.

The men were Clancy Nichols, 51, who also worked as a county road and bridge employee; his son Danny Nichols, 24; and Wes Hawkins, 46, who worked for the local water district.

Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom 2014 … Thousands of Bikers Roar through Streets of Washington, DC for Annual Rolling Thunder Rally For POW’s, MIA’s & Veteran Care

ROLLING THUNDER ASCEND UPON WASHINGTON, DC …

Although the annual Rolling Thunder rally’s  (VIDEO) purpose is to draw attention to the fate of American POWs and those missing in action, it is not lost this Memorial Day the current scandal taking place in the VA  over delays in care to US military personnel blamed for dozens of deaths. As one veteran biker stated, “We fought for years to get benefits that we were entitled to. It is outrageous, but what can you do about it? Not much. We may have the best army in the world, but we treat the veterans terribly, especially veterans from Vietnam and Korea.

Thousands of bikers roared through Washington for the annual Rolling Thunder rally Sunday, given added fervor this year amid anger over an ongoing scandal concerning medical care for veterans.

Organizers estimated around 750,000 bikers and spectators had descended on the US capital for the annual eve-of-Memorial Day rally in support of American prisoners of war and those missing in action, as they have each year since 1988.

The awe-inspiring show of motorcycle might includes many US military veterans on bikes, clearly identifiable in leather jackets emblazoned with military badges and medals.

Henry, 58, travelled from Maine in the northeastern United States with his wife and five other bikers.

He said he was not surprised by the recent scandal gripping the Veterans Affairs (VA) department over delays in care to US military personnel blamed for dozens of deaths.

Ronald Reagan: Remarks at Memorial Day Ceremonies Honoring an Unknown Serviceman of the Vietnam Conflict – 5/28/84

The words of President Ronald Reagan, Arlington National Cemetery, May 31, 1982: (read the entire inspirational and beautiful speech HERE).

The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we — in a less final, less heroic way — be willing to give of ourselves.” [...]

“As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation. And let us also pledge to do our utmost to carry out what must have been their wish: that no other generation of young men will every have to share their experiences and repeat their sacrifice.”

As always, not a day goes by that I do not think about my namesake, Uncle Red, and remember him fondly and thank him for his service. You will never be forgotten and are always missed. God Bless.

Three More Victims Identified After Elliot Rodger Deadly Killing Spree in Isla Vista, California … UCSB Students Cheng Yuan Hong, 20, George Chen, 19, and Weihan Wang, 20

Three more victims of the Elliot Rodger of the deadly killing spree have been identified. The three victims who were stabbed multiple times to death in unit No. 7 of a two-story, charcoal gray building on Seville Road have been identified as 20 year old Cheng Yuan Hong, 19 year old George Chen amd 20 year old Weihan Wang. The police state that Hong and Chen were listed as tenants at the apartment along with the 22 year old mass murderer Elliot Rodger. All three victims were students at the University of California Santa Barbara. Thirteen others were injured, some by gunfire and others by being hit by his vehicle. One was in serious condition at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The three victims who were stabbed in the apartment of the man who unleashed a rampage in the college town of Isla Vista, California, were identified by authorities Sunday, two days after the violent spree.

The victims were identified as Cheng Yuan Hong, 20, and George Chen, 19, both of San Jose, and Weihan Wang, 20, of Fremont.

Authorities said that Hong and Chen were listed as tenants at the apartment of 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, who was suspected of causing the rampage. It was unclear if Wang was a roommate, too. All three were students at the University of California Santa Barbara.

Early today the three other shooting victims that were killed were ID’d,  22 year old Katie Cooper, 19 year old Veronika Weiss and Christopher Ross Michaels-Martinez. All 6 victims in Isla Vista murdered were UCSB students. That fact that an individual with so many mental issues and for some time was not flagged some where along the line had legally purchased guns is troubling, and personally I am as pro-Second Amendment as it gets.

Hidden in Rodger’s bedroom were three guns purchased legally from licensed dealers in Goleta, Oxnard and Burbank, authorities said. They said Rodger used the guns and his black BMW to wreak havoc across a square mile of the quiet college town — running down cyclists and skateboarders, shooting through shop windows and exchanging fire with officers.

Elliot Rodger had wrote in his 141 page manifesto the details to his deranged plans that stated, “The first people I would have to kill are my two housemates, to secure the entire apartment for myself as my personal torture and killing chamber.” The psycho then went on to write that he would lure people into the apartment and kill them before an “ultimate showdown in the streets of Isla Vista.”
