Didn’t we see Matthew Broderick do this in the 1983 movie ‘War Games’ for himself and Ally Sheedy?
18 year old Jose Bautista was charged Friday with eight felonies, four counts of intellectual property crimes for modifying a program and four counts of modifying computer user data. Bautista hacked into the school computers and change the grades for himself and four other students in return for money. Bautista was a senior and scheduled to graduate within a few weeks; however, all that may be in jeopardy as the Miami-Dade School District sent a statement that “expulsion” was still a possibility. The 18 year old was released after his family posted his $20,000 bail.
War Games 1983 – Changing Grades School Hack
A Miami high school student is facing felony charges after allegedly hacking into his school website and changing students’ grades, according to WFOR-TV in Miami.
Jose Bautista, 18, was charged Friday with multiple counts including intellectual property offence and offense against computer users. According to WFOR-TV, Bautista was able to hack into the school computers and change the grades for himself and four other students.
The principal at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School turned over Bautista to the police on Thursday, after the student reportedly gave him a written confession.
A video of Bautista’s court appearance showed the high school senior fidgeting in an orange jumpsuit as the charges against him were read.
However, it looks much different in the real world when one is caught and arrested for hacking into a school computer to change grades. Jose Bautista is not going to be getting a chance to take on Joshua to save the world from ‘global thermal nuclear war’ but instead expulsion.
