25 Year Old Kevin “Kayvon” Edson Arrested for Bringing Backpack to Boston Marathon Finish Line

25 year old Kevin Edson was arrested Tuesday after leaving his backpack unattended at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The area was evacuated  on the one-year anniversary of last year’s Boston Marathon bombings after  police said two backpacks had been found in the area. The Boston police executed a controlled detonation of two suspicious bags.  Kevin Edson faces charges of threatening battery, disorderly conduct, possession of a hoax explosive device, threats to commit a crime, disturbing a public assembly and disturbing the peace.

Kevin Edson, a 25-year-old Boston man, was detained Tuesday night and the area near the Boston Marathon finish line evacuated after an unattended backpack was found.

Boston Police said a backpack was left unattended by the finish line at 6:50 p.m. There was a second bag, but that was not left by the suspect. The Boylston Street area was shut down for about 3 hours, with pedestrians and motorists asked to avoid the area.

NECN witnessed a man being put in the back of a police cruiser on Tuesday night. Boston Police said the suspect faces charges of threatening battery, disorderly conduct, possession of a hoax explosive device, threats to commit a crime, disturbing a public assembly and disturbing the peace. According to the Suffolk District Attorney, he is expected to be arraigned on those charges Wednesday in Boston Municipal Court.

“With the marathon coming, we are taking it seriously,” Boston Police Superintendent Randall Halstead said. “Our officers have been trained in looking for any kind of suspicious activity. I want to emphasize the fact that the safety of the public is utmost, and the training my officers have gone through will come to the forefront. That’s what we’re going to do to make this the best marathon in the wake of last year.”

AMBER ALERT Issued for 14 Year Old Elizabeth Rex Missing Since 4/14/14 in Magnolia, TX … Believed Kidnapped by 51 Year Old Randy Johnson (Update: Elizabeth Found Safe, Johnson Arrested)

An AMBER ALERT has been issued for 14 year old Elizabeth Rex, who has been missing since Monday, April 14, 2014 in Magnolia, Texas. Police believe that she was kidnapped by 51 year old Randy Johnson, who used to live with the family. Elizabeth’s parents, Patrick Rex and Jennifer Black, have told police that they took Randy Johnson into their home because he needed a place to stay; however,  they told him to leave because he was having and an inappropriate influence on their daughter.  They suspected he may have been having physical relationship with her. Elizabeth Rex is 14, because of a number of mental and physical disabilities, she has the maturity level of a 5 or 6 year old. Police believe that Johnson may be headed to the Mexican border.

Elizabeth Rex was last seen wearing black pants, a gray tank top, red jacket and gray tennis shoes.

Police believe a family friend has kidnapped the girl, and the pair may have already left the state, possibly headed for Mexico.

Elizabeth Rex went outside to get the mail Monday, and never returned home.

Her parents believe 51-year-old Randy Johnson, who used to live with the family took the girl.

UPDATE I: A man suspected of running away with a 14-year-old girl with Down syndrome has taunted her parents over the phone saying they’ll never see her again, they have said.

‘He calls us and says, “Y’all will never see Lizzy again” and things like that,’ said her dad Patrick Rex. ‘”Where we’re going you can’t get there”. Not even ten minutes later he calls back and goes, “La-la-la-la”.’

The parents added that Johnson claimed he was going to be passing through a checkpoint, but pointed out that the family had no IDs to be able to do the same.

UPDATE II: Missing Texas girl found safe in trailer park near US-Mexico border.

Elizabeth Rex, of Magnolia, was located in the Texas town of Harlingen, near the Mexico border, with Randy Johnson, a 51-year-old man who previously worked with the girl’s father and briefly lived with the family until he became too close to the young girl, who has been diagnosed with autism and pervasive developmental disorder.

“She appears unharmed,” Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brady Fitzgerald told FoxNews.com. “She’s been transferred to a local hospital for evaluation.”

Johnson remains in custody on kidnapping charges, according to Fitzgerald, who added that the suspect called the girl’s parents and taunted them after the brazen abduction.

Video Shows Large al Qaeda Meeting in Yemen and Some How No Obama Drones Could Be Found … Hmm, I Thought al Qaeda was On the Run?

Don’t worry America … Barack Obama told us that al Qaeda is on the run.

Exactly how is it that al Qaeda can have a meeting of so many individuals, including al Qaeda’s crown prince Nasir al-Wuhayshi, out in the open and there was no knowledge of this by the CIA or the Pentagon? Where was the drone strike that would have decimated al Qaeda? How is it that the NSA can spy on all law abiding American’s emails, phone calls, tweets, etc. but no one knew about this very public open meeting? UNREAL!!! Instead, Obama goes after a cowboy in an over-reach of force.

As reported at The Politico, Rep. Mike Rogers said Tuesday that Al Qaeda is stronger than ever, and that they are doing all the things necessary to prepare a strike.

“The less pressure you put on them, the more they take that as a victory,” Rogers said. “The more that they believe they can get away with plotting, planning, organizing, as you saw there, finance training, all of the things that they would need to do to strike a Western target, they’re going through that process, including, by the way, bringing very sophisticated people to devise new devices that would try to get around security protocols at airports and other places.”

In a speech to the group, al-Wuhayshi makes it clear that he’s going after the United States, saying “We must eliminate the cross. … The bearer of the cross is America!”

A new video shows what looks like the largest and most dangerous gathering of al Qaeda in years. And the CIA and the Pentagon either didn’t know about it or couldn’t get a drone there in time to strike.

U.S. officials won’t comment on that, but every frame of the video is now being analyzed by the United States.

In the middle of the clip, the man known as al Qaeda’s crown prince, Nasir al-Wuhayshi, appears brazenly out in the open, greeting followers in Yemen. Al-Wuhayshi, the No. 2 leader of al Qaeda globally and the head of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, has said he wants to attack the United States. But in the video, he looks unconcerned that he could be hit by an American drone.

Man Dressed in Superman Hoodie … Tori Phillips Rescues Baby from Apartment Fire in East Dallas, TX by Catching Baby

Hero of the Week … It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … Tori Phillips.

Tori Phillips, a man who happens to love Superman and was wearing a Superman hoodie, did his best to honor his action superhero the best way he could. A four-alarm apartment fire that destroyed dozens of residences at the Mayan Palms Apartments on the 7500-block of Hunnicut Road in East Dallas, TX. Superman to the rescue. As firefighters battled the fire, Tori Phillips, dressed in a Superman hoodie helped rescue a baby from the fire as the baby was dropped from the building into his arms. Phillips was among many who lost his apartment unit due to the fire, but Superman said he’ll move on from that and the baby he found momentarily in his arms this morning is a way bigger deal to him than the things he lost. KUDOS to Mr. Phillips!

Amid all the destruction and the dozens of displaced residents, NBC 5 managed to find some good news at the scene. While going around and helping bang on doors to get people up and out, Regina Whitaker witnessed some fellow residents doing more to try to save lives.

“They were taking their hands and breaking the glass and they pulled that fence to help get a disabled man out,” said Whitaker. “We were just trying to get as many people out as we can from here and in the back. There were people with a baby. They had to drop a baby down.”

Tori Phillips, who happens to love Superman and was wearing a Superman hoodie, caught the baby.

“I’d seen they needed help and they were scared to come down with their baby and I was like, ‘I’m right here, I’ll catch ‘em.’ So that’s what I did and then another dude helped get his wife down and then he jumped down and got them to safety,” said Phillips.

Phillips is among those who lost his apartment unit but the good Samaritan said he’ll move on from that. The baby he found momentarily in his arms this morning is a way bigger deal to him than the things he lost.
