Heck, a proper back ground check would have stopped this shooter.
I would agree that meds are overprescribed, but when you are hearing voices, it might be a good time for some heavy duty anti-psych meds. Just Saying.

Anti-psych drugs have a very poor record regarding people who are not in a mental facility.
The real problem is that our military facilities have been declared a gun free zone by executive order from President Bill Clinton in the 1990′s. This order has never been revoked by Bush or Obama.
Armed military are the best deterrence against crimes of this type. The crazy thugs only want to harm as many as they can before being taken out. They will not target a location where they think they would be challenged immediately.
First, the meds would be best utilized by the POTUS

Besides even if the shooter owned no guns of his own he most likely could have could have obtained one, either by borrowing or stealing an unspecting military friend’s or by outright theft of a strangers.
