The cat picture does not fit wild cats from North America.
The cats most likely to be roaming the area of Detroit are the Canadian Lynx or the Bob cat. When a town or city begins to die, wild animals will extend their habitat into the area. Plenty of prey in the form of small dogs and domestic cats.

An expert spoke to Fox 2. She believes the cat is what’s known as a Savannah cat, a domestic hybrid breed. The local breeder says the cats are a cross between a domestic house cat and a serval (a medium-sized African cat). The unusual mix was created in the late 1980s.
Savannah cats tend to be more social than house cats and they’re the largest domestic breed.
The cat’s tall, slim build often makes it look larger than it actually is. Some male Savannahs can weigh up to 20 pounds or more,
