Political Correctness: AP Stylebook Revises Definition of ‘Islamist’ as AP Caves PC Pressures … Term “Islamist,” Will No Longer Be Used To Describe “Islamic Fighters, Militants, Extremists Or Radicals”

If it looks like an Islamist, walks like an Islamist and talks like an Islamist, geuess what AP … It’s an Islamist.

Remember when the journalist news used to be about reporting the news and not about worrying whether someone felt uncomfortable? Now the AP wants to redefine the enemy of the United States. How about a new definition for the AP … gutless, politically correct cowards?

This is yet another example why many have no trust or respect in the MSM. Just days after  dropping “illegal immigrant” from its influential stylebook, the Associated Press has revised its definition of another politically charged term, Islamist. The AP stated that it will no longer use the term ”Islamist” to describe  an Islamic fighters, militants, extremists or radicals. Instead, the AP now defines an ”Islamist” as an “advocate or supporter of a political movement that favors reordering government and society in accordance with laws prescribed by Islam. Of course this was a result of the cowards at AP succumbing to the pressures of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Yup, here is one of the Islamists that the AP refuses to define as an Islamic Fighters, Militants, Extremists Or Radicals

Following on the heels of the Tuesday decision by The Associated Press to discontinue use of the term “illegal immigrant,” the news agency on Thursday revised its stylebook entry for another politically charged term.   The term “Islamist,” the AP clarified in a Thursday afternoon alert to online stylebook subscribers, should not be used as “a synonym for Islamic fighters, militants, extremists or radicals.”

“Islamist” is frequently used as a label for conservative Islamic political movements, particularly Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, the group’s Palestinian offshoot. It generally carries a negative connotation.

The AP first added the term to its stylebook in 2012. The definition initially read:

Supporter of government in accord with the laws of Islam. Those who view the Quran as a political model encompass a wide range of Muslims, from mainstream politicians to militants known as jihadi.

Just how gutless and politically correct has the AP become? These folks are more worried about if they upset terrorists than they are in correctly and accurately reporting the news. If these jokers were around in the 1940′s I am guessing that they would have provided cute and flowery definitions for the term Nazi’s and fascists.

Sorry, but we will continue to use the term “Islamist” as it is meant to be and for effect we will add the term radical jihad Islamist fascist for effect.

Only A Matter of Time … Rutgers Athletic Director Tim Pernetti Resigns in Wake of Mike Rice Abusive Behavior Scandal Firing

The Buck does not stop at the desk of the Rutgers University President …

In the wake of the firing of Rutgers University Basketball coach Mike Rice firing and the scandal that surrounded his abusive behavior toward his players, it was only a matter of time before the next shoe dropped. Rutgers Athletic Director Tim Pernetti has now resigned  in an effort to calm down the public furor over their handling of abusive behavior by the Scarlet Knights’ men’s basketball coach. We had asked the very question, why once the video came out of the inappropriate and abusive behavior of coach Rice was he fired as opposed to when he was first punished with a suspension? Those that made the decision to only suspend Rice saw the very same videos. Obviously, those at Rutgers who made the decision to only suspended Rice had made a grave error in judgment and were going to pay a price once the video became viral. However, how many scapegoats will be required to take the fall to make up for the initial non-firing of Rice?

They also revealed that the circle of people who viewed video of abusive treatment of players by the coach, Mike Rice, as early as December was wider than previously understood, and that it included members of the university’s board of governors. That group was informed of the decision to suspend Mr. Rice for three games and send him to anger-management counseling, but not to fire him, according to Ralph Izzo, chairman of the Rutgers board.

On Friday morning, two days after Mr. Rice was fired, Athletic Director Tim Pernetti resigned, and implied that he was being made a scapegoat. He said his initial inclination when he saw the videos last fall was to fire Mr. Rice, but “Rutgers decided to follow a process involving university lawyers, human resources professionals, and outside counsel.”

Robert L. Barchi, the president of Rutgers, placed the blame on Mr. Pernetti and other senior officials who he said recommended that Mr. Rice be suspended rather than fired.

At a news conference Friday afternoon, Rutgers University President Robert L. Barchi announced the resignations of Mr. Pernetti and John B. Wolf, the university’s general counsel. It would appear at Rutgers, the buck does not stop at the president, it stops at those beneath him who he wishes to throw under the bus. Question, how with such a scandal like this does the president of a university not watch a tape unless they wish to claim plausible deniability?

Dr. Barchi placed the blame for the decision to suspend rather than fire Mr. Rice in December squarely on Mr. Pernetti and the university’s lawyers, saying he had not watched the video of Mr. Rice’s actions last fall and instead had relied on their descriptions of it.

“I know had I seen the tape that my assessment would have differed from theirs, and I would have acted on my assessment,” Dr. Barchi said.

When asked why he had not watched the video, he said: “I can’t answer exactly why I didn’t. You can only say in retrospect I sure wish I had.”

No She Didn’t … Michelle Obama Calls Herself a “Busy Single Mother”

The audacity of Michelle Obama …

Are you joking, the First Lady Michelle Obama, who has all the perks in the world, a protective secret service and a staff at her beck and call just referred to herself as a “BUSY SINGLE MOTHER”.  You would know noyjonh what it means to be a busy single mother and because your husband is president, means nothing. Just a note to the out f touch Marie Antoinette  Michelle Obama, busy single mothers do not get to take lavish multiple vacations every years and wear designer clothes. Good grief, you have zero, nada, nil in common with single working mothers and do not even pretend you do! You are part of the 1 Percent class that your husband demonizes.

During an interview with Burlington, Vt. CBS affiliate WCAX, first lady Michelle Obama described herself as a “busy single mother” before quickly correcting herself, explaining, “Sometimes when you’ve got the husband who’s president, it can feel a little single, but he’s there.”

US Unempoyment Rate Drops to 7.6% in March 2013 with a Pathetic 88,0000 Jobs Created … Labor Force Participation to 63.3%, a New 34 Year Low

BARACK OBAMA, EPIC FAILURE … PATHETIC, JUST PATHETIC … Obama’s abysmal Job growth failure.

The US Unemployment rate for March 2013 fell to 7.6%; however, this was done with an anemic 88,000 jobs created. The jobs report fell far short, not a little or just missed as economist expectations of 200,000 new jobs. As reported at Zero Hedge, the unemployment rate declined to 7.6%, but this was due entirely to the collapse in the labor force participation rate, which declined by 20 bps to 63.3%, a new 30 year low.  In March labor force de-participation soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work. At this rate Obama will have the unemployment rate down to 2% as everyone will have left the workforce and because of the BS fuzzy math they use to calculate the numbers.

Even Obama is going to have a tough time spinning these numbers, but with no GWB to blame, he will find someone

Job creation slowed to a crawl during March, with the U.S. economy creating just 88,0000 positions though the unemployment rate fell to 7.6 percent.

The number was a sharp slide from February’s upwardly revised 268,000.

The Labor Department reported Friday that nonfarm payroll growth eased amid hopes that the economy had begun to achieve the escape velocity needed for sustained growth.

Friday’s report fell short of economist expectations of 200,000 new jobs, though it did confirm some of the weakness in recent reports.

THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION — MARCH 2013

Nonfarm payroll employment edged up in March (+88,000), and the unemployment rate was little changed at 7.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment grew in professional and business services and in health care but declined in retail trade.

Household Survey Data

Both the number of unemployed persons, at 11.7 million, and the unemployment rate, at 7.6 percent, were little changed in March. (See table A-1.)

Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (6.9 percent), adult women (7.0 percent), teenagers (24.2 percent), whites (6.7 percent), blacks (13.3 percent), and Hispanics (9.2 percent) showed little or no change in March. The jobless rate for Asians was 5.0 percent (not seasonally adjusted), little changed from a year earlier. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)

In March, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 4.6 million. These individuals accounted for 39.6 percent of the unemployed. (See table A-12.)

The civilian labor force declined by 496,000 over the month, and the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.2 percentage point to 63.3 percent. The employment- population ratio, at 58.5 percent, changed little. (See table A-1.)

The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) fell by 350,000 over the month to 7.6 million. These individuals were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job. (See table A-8.)

From USA Today, Dow set to open 150 points lower on weak jobs report.

Futures for the Dow Jones industrial average were down 1% while futures for the Standard & Poor’s 500 index and the Nasdaq 100 composite index were about 0.8% lower after the Labor Department’s monthly employment report was released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The number of jobs created in March was less than half the consensus estimate on Wall Street.
